008- Everyone's Sides

(Sorry didn't notice that I published them out of order, here you go!)

She tapped the pen faster that was the only sound going on in the room a the moment while she looked him right in the eyes, "Well they would be the Royals. I know it is random to bring them up but it happens to deal with the woman you are seeing at the moment."

Eli froze, "Wait what do you mean it has to do with the woman I am seeing? And for that matter how do you know anything about the woman I am seeing?" when he unfroze he almost shouted that but didn't want to draw attention to them.

She panicked a little but kept going, "Okay well I should have told you this morning but I didn't know how. The woman you are seeing Elizabeth Lascelles, well she is kind of the mother of the man I am seeing Sean Renard, who is...."

She didn't need to go on as he stopped her, "Who is the son of Fredrick Renard King of Austria. Yeah you don't need to give me a history lesson on the Royals I know them all to well, but are you telling me she is the wife of Fredrick?"

Adalind looked at Eli whose eyes were glowing a bright orange at the moment, she wasn't mesmerized like last time though instead she was scared some. She gulped while trying to keep her calm while talking to him, "No she isn't his wife. Sean is a bastard child of them, she was actually driven out as they planned to kill both of them."

That still didn't calm his anger though as he didn't know where they stood, on this he was certain and that was that he would never be on the side of the Royals. "What side do they stand on exactly?" He asked, it wasn't something really talked about in the open like this, more then half the office might be on the other side that one wasn't on.

She stopped tapping her pen while letting out a breath, "Well I don't know about Elizabeth, I couldn't tell you how she feels about the Royal's or who she supports. As for Sean he is a bigger picture kind of guy, sort of, his real goal is just to be on the winning side no matter who he needs to leave behind to do so."

Eli sat there his foot tapping as he heard that, before she could say anything else to him though he was already heading out ignoring her calls. His head was clouded at the moment, he was angry beyond belief though at the moment since he didn't know where she stood.

He couldn't really be to angry since they haven't talked about their past but this is something big for him, the Royals killed his mother. That made them his enemy and he wouldn't stand with any of them that stood with the Royals, he actually had the state of mind to kill any that he knew of.

He didn't even remember how he got down to his car but he drove on autopilot, it was like someone else was controlling him at the moment as he drove. At the moment he was experiencing an out of body experience, his emotions that were once clear at the moment were all over the place.

Thinking back to this morning everything was great but now it seemed like it might be going down hill, he didn't even know how to confront her about this. Well he might not even have a choice depending on if Adalind decided to tell them ahead of time about her spilling the beans to him.

When he reached his place he threw his bag on the counter while going to make himself a drink, he needed something to calm himself so he went for something really strong. On the side was his mixed cocktail but he ignored that, though it did have a lot of mixed alcohol in it he wasn't going to get something that would put him on his butt.

Taking his drink he moved to the couch while holding the whiskey bottle, hanging his head he took giant gulps of his drink. It wasn't long before he was having to refill it again, three drinks in he was feeling a buzz while sitting on the couch his thoughts a mess.

An hour later Liz---Elizabeth was walking through the door, he didn't know where he stood with her so he was going to call her by her name until he knew. She didn't have a smile as she walked in, she let out a sigh seeing him sitting there drinking meaning one thing, she knew he knew.

"So Sean told me what Adalind told you." she said while fixing herself a glass of wine, she was going to finish off the bottle she opened last night.

He looked up at her, "Oh." was all he said while taking another drink.

"Look we can be mature and talk about this, or you can drink and let your anger flow. But one way or another we need to talk this out." She said sitting across from him, his body language just screamed that he didn't want her close at the moment.

"You slept with the king, you were on the side with the Royals. Now your son apparently is also living in this city, and what does he do exactly?" He asked setting his glass down, she was right he didn't want to end up having a screaming match with her while drunk.

"He is the Captain over at the South Precinct." She said twirling her cup and taking a sip of it.

"So your son, who can't decide if he wants to on the side of the Royals or not is the captain of the South Precinct, the district I live in." He said nodding his head.

"Don't make it sound so bad, he is just trying to look out for himself. It isn't easy to just pick a side, when the time comes anyone could easily switch to save themselves." She said trying to defend her son.

Eli froze though hearing her words looking her in the eye for the first time, "What do you mean? Are you telling me that you would be on the Royals side if need be, even after you were chased out and they tried to kill you?"

The room went quiet as the two stared at one another, Eli could see that she was trying to come up with something though to convince him to see her side of things. He chuckled lowly seeing that, she looked at him weirdly but he ignored that while standing up, he was done drinking for the night.

"There is a guest room over there. I think it would be best if you stayed there for tonight." He said while pointing to the room across from his study, after setting his glass inside the sink he undid his tie while going to his room.

"Wait!" She said standing to follow him when she saw that he wasn't even listening to her.

Eli didn't want to talk about it anymore though, he wanted to just be alone for a moment maybe even take a nap because of all this. He threw his tie over to the side not bothered with where it landed, he untucked his shirt while also unbuttoning it at the moment it was suffocating.

"I know you can hear me, stop pretending you can't we need to talk about this like adults." Elizabeth said following him into the room.

Eli sighed while losing his shirt, "What is there to talk about anymore? You are trying to convince me that I should play the field, straddle the line as they say. I don't care about either side, they are both just power hungry who don't get involved unless they are in some trouble."

"I won't sit here and listen to that. The Royals killed my mother and I will kill anyone who aligns themselves with them, they are my number one enemy no matter what anyone says to me."

He heard her gasp from hearing his words, he didn't do anything though but fell on his back onto the bed, he put an arm over his eyes laying there. It wasn't long before there was a dip in the bed with her joining him, she seemed to just be sitting there while thinking maybe?

"I didn't know," She started she moved again laying next to him, he felt her reach and run her hand through his hair, "Do you want to talk about it more?"

He didn't say anything, at the moment he could only see his mom in his head at the moment, this was a reason he even avoided thinking about this topic. This also wasn't something that he was expecting today, no he was wanting something easy and fun like yesterday but this couldn't be taken back.

"I can't say I am on their side. It is true that they made us flee, when that happened I was furious like never before since they decided to betray me. There was just a ball of white hot fire inside me when that happened, it took years for me to even be able to get over it, well as much as someone could.

Then it hit me that I couldn't keep being that way, I taught Sean that he needed to play the field. It was the only thing to keep us safe, if he was in contact with that side of his family keeping a foot in the door then we wouldn't be in any trouble. It was a strong plan.

Somewhere along the way though we just didn't stop, Sean gets updates on the Royals while also having some ties in the Resistance. I thought that this was just a good idea since it kept us safe, it isn't wrong to want to have some sort of security." She finished with half her body now lying on his as her hand was massaging his scalp at the moment.

"If you were on the Royals side at the moment, and they asked you to kill me would you do it to show that you really are loyal to them?" He asked moving his arm away to look her in the eyes.

Her eyes flashed a moment and that was the first time that he saw her eyes in Woge, they were a light purple it was hard to tell really their color since they looked like a really light blue too. "I would, but--" she didn't get to finish as he moved her off of him.

"Yeah, you really need to stay in the guest room tonight." He knew now this really was a fling there was no doubt in his mind about it. The moment he heard her words those small feelings he had he shut them down, he didn't want anything more with someone who thought this way.

She looked him in the eye and seeing the seriousness in it she nodded, "Do you want your key back?"

"This is a fling not a relationship, so unless you want to end that then keep it." He said his back to her, he didn't see the little flinch that she did but it wouldn't matter even if he did.

"No we can keep this going, hopefully tomorrow we can end this on a higher note before I leave." She said in an almost business like tone before she got up and left the room, she didn't look back he entire way.

Eli didn't agree or disagree it was just all to much to fast, rubbing his face as the door closed he hung his head looking down at the floor. He was surprised that he held his anger in as he sat there, inside though he really wanted to do nothing more then to walk out the room and just yell at her.

It was taking everything inside of him to not do it, he knew on the rational side of his brain that he needed to let her do as she pleased. He knew that he didn't need to change her beliefs or ideas, this was something that has kept her alive all of these years so why should he be the one that tries to change something like that.

Sighing he threw himself back on the bed, his head was a mess at the moment. Looking at the clock it was hardly even six yet, he was getting a headache though from all this thinking but there was nothing that would take this headache away though.

Closing his eyes again he let this part of his brain shut down, he was focusing on his past life memories since these were controlling his emotions. There was a dark spot that wouldn't let him access it but he ignored that, instead he was getting everything rationalized.

Since he came from just normal world he just looked at it all politically, he wanted to try and not use the emotions from the current him to fuel all of his emotions and decisions since it could ruin him.

Unknowingly an hour passed while he was thinking that, he got up since he wanted to make himself something to eat at the moment to get his mind off of everything. Leaving his room he walked out to see Liz sitting down while watching TV, yeah he went back to calling her Liz since he saw her side of things.

He wasn't going to let something like that really effect him, since he was using both lived memories it was easier for him to keep everything and not lash out at her. She looked over too seeing him come out, there was a small smile on her face when she looked into his eyes and saw that there was no anger in them when he looked at her.

"So what are you doing?" She asked hesitantly as he walked into the kitchen taking out ingredients.

He kept grabbing things, he wanted fresh steak so he grabbed the two that were sitting in there, "I am making dinner, tonight it will be heavy though since we both haven't eaten anything. Unless you already have?" he asked while looking over to her.

She shook her head while standing and walking over, "So are we talking now, is your little hissy fit over? Can I come back into the master bedroom tonight?"

Eli wanted to say yes but he couldn't just yet, "Yes we are talking. Though I still can't handle you in the master bedroom tonight, you have to see my side of things rather then calling it a 'hissy fit'."

She nodded her head, "I do see your side, they took your mother from you so it is reasonable that you hate them. As long as you can see my side too then I don't see why we can't just go back to being normal."

"I do see your side. I also know that I can't change your point of view on things so we can keep everything civil, though it would be best if we didn't bring this topic up again. I don't know if I can keep my temper in check."

"Yeah you are right, it was a challenge for me to keep mine in check earlier when we were talking." She said while taking a seat on a bar stool at the island.

He nodded that was a hazard of being what they were, "So anything you want as a side or don't want?"

She smiled before going into it, he kept the talk light as he was cooking the food they were still trying to get back to their normal pace of conversation. Tonight was the most they learned about each other, they both didn't know what other secrets would spill out if they kept talking.

Eli didn't want to know since he was trying to keep this a fling, he knew he was at risk for falling for her if he was to keep going down the path that they were going. While Liz was trying her hardest not to learn more, she was a little hurt by the fling comment earlier even if she did want that to be all they had between the two of them.

She couldn't risk the feelings, something like that might ruin her streak of staying alive.
