Training with guns

Their nap lasted a good minute.

Johnathan woke up roughly two hours before his next training session. He sat up and yawned. Stretching his arm behind his back, he checked the time. "3:59."

He had almost exactly two hours. The soldier looked to his right. Staring at the sleeping boy, he decided to just stay in the room. Sitting cross-legged, he started absorbing and purifying mana.

'This always feels relaxing,' He thought as he purified the mana in his core.

Since he was in a meditative state, he didn't notice how much time passed.

In the middle of meditating, he felt someone tug on his shirt. Opening his eyes, he saw Ash showing him the time. Gasping, he quickly got up and thanked Ash. He had been meditating for an hour and fifty-five minutes. 'Shit,' he thought.

"Bye Ash. See you tonight."

Leaving the room, he quickly spammed the elevator button. The elevator doors didn't open, so he sprinted towards the stairwell. He pushed the doors open and ran down them. After three minutes of sprinting and skipping multiple steps, he finally made it to the lobby.

With two minutes to spare, he tried catching his breath. He took a couple of deep breaths and looked around, trying to find someone he knows. Luckily, not long after searching, he found Danny.

The two talked for a couple of minutes before the sergeant and a couple of other soldiers behind him approached. The group straightened their backs, waiting for the sergeant to say something.

The man looked at the group with their backs straight and smiled. "Follow me."

The sergeant impatiently walked through the lobby. When reaching a door that said 'range', he stopped. Turning the handle, he pushed the door open. After he walked through, everyone followed.

Johnathan looked around the massive room. It had enough to fit all of them.

From the original 105, only 75 remained. The rest quit because of the training session in the morning. Although the people who ate crystals and didn't have different exercises, they weren't any less challenging.

Still, every single person who ate a crystal was there. Showing the difference between the two groups.

"Everyone. For the remaining two hours, we'll have you guys play with guns. However, remember, guns aren't toys. It's as lethal as shit gets. You hold the gun too lightly, you can end up dead."

Everyone's eyes widened. They can die if they don't hold the gun strong enough? Like that would happen. Right? But even though they thought that was ridiculous, they still paid attention and made sure they had a good grip on the guns.

After a few minutes of explaining what to do and assigning people where they would be, the sergeant sent them into the gunroom.

Pointing to a door, the sergeant spoke. "Behind that door is a room full of guns. You can each pick one to use for today. Go on."

Johnathan followed the massive group that walked towards the door. Once it was his turn to grab a gun, he walked into the room and looked around. What should he use? A rifle? A Deagle?

Deciding, he walked to the pistols section and grabbed a Deagle. He already has his own in his room. Never having used a gun before, Johnathan didn't expect to master any gun he tried. So he picked one he already owned.

'I'll change weapons when I get decent at this one.'

Johnathan didn't plan on only using the Deagle. If he had a machine gun, killing zombies would be a breeze. So that's why he decided that his next gun would be a rifle.

Walking out of the room with a loaded gun, he moved to his assigned spot. He pressed the button that was placed on the wall, making the target appear.

He experimented with the other buttons, making them move closer and further away. 'Let's start with close.'

Johnathan moved the target as close as possible and held the gun to its head. Pulling the trigger, the bullet flew through the head of the target. However, Johnathan underestimated the recoil. His hand flew back a little, scaring him a bit. 'Hold tighter next time.' He reminded himself to have a better grip before trying again.

He aimed the gun at the target and pulled the trigger. The bullet zoomed out of the barrel and hit the target's head. This time, he didn't lose control of the gun and easily took the recoil. Johnathan then moved the target further and shot until the bullet hit the target's head.

The further the target went, the less accurate he was. This didn't discourage him, though. He guessed it would happen.

The two hours passed quickly. After the training, Johnathan felt that after a couple more training sessions he'd be proficient enough with a gun to use it in combat.

However, this could only be said for the Deagle. He only focused on this one gun while in the range. 'I'll use other guns after a couple more training sessions.'

After the time was up, the sergeant let everyone go home. Johnathan met up with his two friends and headed towards the cafeteria.

They ate dinner, and once they were done, Johnathan packed some food for Ash. The three left the cafeteria and headed back to their rooms. It was already 8:30, and they were tired.

Once Johnathan got back to his room, he handed Ash the container and went to take a shower. After the quick shower, he put his military clothes on once again.

He sat on the ground and closed his eyes. Johnathan decided to meditate a little before sleeping. It was 8:55, and he decided to only meditate for an hour.

Closing his eyes, he started circulating the mana in his core, purifying it.

By the time he opened his eyes, Ash was already sleeping. Checking the time, he sighed with relief. It was only 9:59.

"Thank god I only meditated for an hour."

*Yawn*

Yawning, Johnathan laid down and closed his eyes, looking forward to what tomorrow had for him.
