KING OSAGIE

Glancing at the magazine while his private jet descended, He smiled as he gazed at the exquisite front page of the magazine which carried an enchanting and commandeering photograph of him. The pictured was one of his recent shot. He sat on his throne, adoring his recent crown collection alongside a red traditional attire in his place. It was organized in relation to his recent 37th birthday.

Glamour Vogue, the world leading magazine for the rich and famous had named him as the richest king under 40 years of age in the African continent. As a jeweler, he was in high demands by the British, Portuguese and even french monarchs for his prestigious designs and products.

"Your highest, please fasten your seat belt as we begin the descend sir" his female hostess informed him in her unique voice causing him to retract his gaze from the magazine spread out before him. Immediately in obedience to her instructions, he pulled the belt and had himself strapped securely. Giving her a smile as well as a nod, she blushed endlessly until her cheeks looked a bit darker.

Being 37 years of age, he was used to the attention he commanded as a man. Many ladies flock themselves towards him in marriage proposal or for him to just bed them but he was not interested. Several high ranking members of the society had proposed to him to take their daughters hand in marriage but he refuted all. He had learnt self sufficiency early in life making every of their proposal null and void.

He was 6'4ft in height, weighed 83.9kg and he had his abs primed as though he was an advertising model for male underwears. He cared about a healthy lifestyle, hence he regularly exercised to remain fit. Haven dated the winner of Miss Africa beauty pageant as his last relationship, he considered himself off the entanglement market until something attractive appeals to him. He was tired of having meaningless sex with someone who just cared only about looks. Although He liked a beautiful woman but he had come to notice that he valued a woman who had something extraordinary to say.

His private company called Gina's Diamond named after his late mother Regina had their products always sold out from the day it was released into the market. Products included tiaras, rings of all kinds from signature rings to wedding rings, bracelets, crowns, necklace and earrings. The rich and powerful cared about exotic life, hence diamonds must accompany their wardrobe collection.

He barely had any product that stayed in his show room for more than a month. The queen of England had him on speed dial as well as several billionaires in the world. Having his father pass away made him a king at the age of 27 and the last ten years of his reign had been a rule of peace, progress and prosperity for his people.

King Derek Osagie is a thinker, a philanthropist and a man with passion. He built a nursery and a primary school with his personal funds for the public free of charge in his first year of rulership. He also empowered a hundred farmers to ensure his kingdom never lacked food. His last project was the building of a grand maternity and emergency hospital. The six storey building was opened by the president of the nation as well as several dignitaries within and outside the country. The president commended King Osagie for his love in making things better for his people.

Many attributed his success to his schooling abroad as he had always thought in different direction from the norms of society, in the execution of his numerous public projects. His mother Regina though a Nigerian, she was born and brought up outside the shores of Nigeria with elaborate exposure in all matters of business. His grandfather was an archaeologist which ensured many travels for his mother. When she married the great king Onoru, his late father, she was required to stay in the palace and raise their children.

Having just two of them, His mother taught him and his sister about so many places and culture. As soon as they were teenagers, they left the shores of Nigeria and began their academic journey in America. He left the United States when he was 19 to get a master's degree in France as a chemist and and another one year master's degree as an analyst in precious stones. His PhD program helped him in specializing in sourcing, production, packaging and distribution of precious jewel's.

Derek Osagie as he fondly introduces himself without a title, descended from his private jet unto the red rug which was laid out for him as he walked upon it towards the first class arrival longue. His attendant Uyi walked briskly before him leading his security team to share themselves, as some were required to walk before and behind him. He was back in the country as he had finished the purchase of fine jewel's which he would spend time in moulding, creating fine pieces, packaging and distribution.

Many of his people did not know this but he prefers being in Nigeria his home country and place of birth. When he finished checking out all their luggages, Uyi signaled his security team and they began to move. Entering the back seat of his range Rover sport that Uyi opened for him, he slide in graciously looking like a young business tech man not a billionaire king. He wore a simple blue canvas, a dark blue t-shirt and a blue jean complimented with a face cap which made it impossible for him to be identified by the paparazzi. Pressing his phone, he occasionally stared at the window wishing to add more to humanity and his great kingdom.

"Your highness, are we going to the palace hall directly or your quarters?" Uyi asked him from the front seat where he sat. Uyi had been his attendant since he was coronated as the king ten years ago. Uyi's father served as his father's attendant. He was loyal and only him was allowed to seat with the king alongside the driver in a car.

"Let's go to my quarters first. I would like to take nap for a while before going to the hall to commence matters of the kingdom."

"Yes your highness. "We are to proceed to the Home of his highness" Uyi spoke into his walkie talkie, obviously instructing the security team in the other vehicles before and behind him. Uyi was in charge of everything he desired and he sometimes finds himself incomplete without him around. His usual travel style as dictated by Uyi is three vehicles. One Hilux at the front with a police attaches, a range Rover in the middle which the king usually sits in and a tundra behind with several military personnel.

As they drove into the city, just around the Playhieght nursery school, Derek saw a little boy ran into the road freeing himself of a woman holding him and he saw another lady chase after him, diving him to the ground, covering him with her body as a mother would but not before a car coming in the direction hit her shoulders by the side as she cradled the boy. The driver of the car didn't stop as he probably would have been arrested.

"Halt the car at once and let's help" Derek ordered his driver and Uyi spoke into his walkie talkie again to inform the others. They disembark with such speed as the other parents were busy holding their wards from commiting such errors.

It was a sight of commotion as the lady was bruised on her shoulder and her knees had deep cuts from the gravels on the road. Forgetting who he was, Derek got to her side and helped in raising her up. The first thing he noticed was her eyes, they were the most beautiful sight he had seen all his life. He also noticed that she was a big boned woman who weighed maybe 70kg. She was hurt but pretended to be fine as she forced a smile on her face. Derek was used to such pretence as king for he had seen many others try to please him to their own detriment. Uyi raised the little boy up and thankfully no wounds in sight.

"Please check him sir, I hope he is fine?" The lady said as she was more concerned about the child than herself.

"Miss Special I am so sorry. My son is just something else. Oh look at your body, please let's get her to the hospital" The child's mother came towards them pleading as she looked at the teacher.

"That is certainly correct. We should take you to the hospital. You are brave in going after the child like that. I actually thought you were the mother " Derek said looking at the teacher.

"Thank you so much for the rescue sir. But the hospital may not be necessary. Besides, Michael is just three years old and one of our young preschoolers. it certainly wasn't his fault but the car driver that got away" Special said.

Derek wondered for a brief moment why a teacher would risk her life for her pupil and she cared about the boy deeply as she stretches her arms which were bleeding to touch the child who was already sobbing from the scolding his mother was dishing out to him. The teacher wore no wedding band and her hands which he held were so soft.

"Michael I am fine. it's just a few cut. Nothing more honey. Thank you kind sirs. I appreciate the rescue sirs. So sorry for making you break your journey sir. I would like to go inside to clean these cuts. I would be fine. I am grateful" Special greeted king Derek oblivious to who he was as she tried to free her arms of him but he wouldn't budge.

"I would like to take you to the hospital to ensure that you are alright before I would be satisfied enough to leave". Derek said gazing at the beautiful eyes of the lady called Special and he felt in some way, she could be special indeed.

"We shouldn't waist any more time sir in taking her to the hospital. I am so sorry for this mess my son has caused. If Miss Special had not seen him when he was running to the road, I don't know what would have happened" cried the boys mother who began arranging Miss Special's torn cloth on her shoulder.

"I will be fine ma. Michael was not hurt and that is all that matters right now. Let's focus on that ma. I am very much better. I would take myself to the school clinic." Special said already fidgeting.

"I insist I must take you to the hospital myself." Derek said and immediately Uyi guided her to the car as he walked behind. He had no other option than to wave the crowd that had gathered in front of the school gate consisting of parents and pupils. Many may know him as their king but it seems Special doesn't.

Sitting next to her in the car, he saw her face very well. She was obviously a shy lady as she kept her face bowed as soon as they entered the car on their way to the hospital. Derek wondered again how she could be a teacher if she was this shy. Her shoulders was getting swollen and she looked as though she was in pain.

To ease the tension in the back seat, King Osagie cleared his throat and extended his arms for a handshake.

"My name is Derek"

"My name is Special sir"

"You may loose the formalities. You are obviously not a child ma'am. So call me Derek....Just Derek." He added. Rubbing her palms, he was delighted to feel how soft and warm they were. It was a pity he had to let her hands go and immediately she wrapped them around her body.

"Noted sir...sorry Derek."

"Are you from this town?"

"Yes I am"

"And do you work there?, so sorry. Silly me. Of course you do, you called Michael your preschooler. Are you his class teacher?"

"No... " Special smiled.

"But you seem to care for him? what class do you teach then?"

"I am the head mistress for the nursery arm of Playhieght school" Special replied looking out the tinted glass window.

"Wow, you must be a big woman then." He teased.

"No.. I am just.."

He noticed she struggled with the words and refused his compliment. She seemed to have withdrawn into a shell and would require no further discussion. Not wanting to stress her further, he allowed her and she kept her head bowed again until they got to the hospital.

Arriving at the hospital, the emergency response unit was already waiting for them outside as Uyi had earlier informed them of their arrival by phone. They wheeled Special into the emergency room and Uyi walked to the counter to speak with the receptionist.

King Derek had no choice but to wait out in the executive emergency hall as he was the only one there.

He pondered on Special's body condition and hoped it was just a minute case that would not require too much medical expertise. He hated waiting, hence he fiddled his phone endlessly.

Not too long afterwards, a doctor came out of the emergency room, already pre-informed of the king's presence in the hospital.

"Your highness, Good afternoon sir. I am Doctor Uche at your service"

"Doctor Uche good afternoon, how is the young lady?"

"She is very fine your highness and would just require a couple of Stiches which has been done.A few days of bed rest, plenty of vitamins and she will be fine. She will be discharged as soon as the antibiotics is administered your highness"

"Oh thank you Doctor Uche. I feel much better."

"You are welcome your highness. it's our utmost joy to render a service to one of yours"

King Derek didn't know how to respond to that comment which sounded sexual and intruding at the same time, hence he just smiled and watched as Special strolled out of the emergency on her feet.

"Thank you Mr Derek. I was told you paid the bills. I am most grateful" She extended her hands for a handshake as soon as she was close and for some unknown reasons, he gladly took it Doctor Uche looked stunned as Special addressed him by his first name. Not wanting to alarm her to the doctor's gaze, He simply waved the doctor away who bowed to him in obeisance as he left. Derek guided her to one of the long couches to sit whilst she waited for the drugs the doctor prescribed.

"How do you feel?" He asked showing great concern.

"I was given something for the pain. So I feel okay. I would have to get home and take more as prescribed of course so as not to have any." Special replied smiling.

"I am so sorry to bother you but I kind of like your name "Special". It's rare, infact I believe this is the first time I am hearing it as a name of a person. However I must call you brave for what you did for that little boy "

"There was nothing brave there Derek. I was just doing something anyone would do for a child"

That Statement seemed heavy as she looked away from his face into her skirt and fondled the material. She was a mystery to him and he seemed to like what he sees. Before he could complete his penetrating examination of her physique, the nurse brought the drugs which Special took and appreciated him once again.

Without any warning, she began to exit the hospital not wanting a lift from them back to her house which she told him was the school. Uyi caught up to her at the entrance and she dismissed him, insisting that she could get back to Playhieght by herself. However with his piercing gaze, Uyi convinced her to hitch a ride with them back to the school.

On entering the car, she became a lot more quiet and he wondered if he had offended her.

"How were you planning to get back home? Derek asked suddenly after examining her to see no phone, or purse or money in sight.

"I was going to walk" She responded with all seriousness and he knew there was no joke in sight.

The king was puzzled. Who is this Lady?

When they arrived at Playhieght nursery, it was already late in the evening and dark as well. The security man opened the gate for them to drive in and Derek wondered why.

"Do you live in the school premises?

"Yes I do."

"But I thought only a boarding school houses it's staffs "

"I live in the quarters close to the boarding school. Its not to far, I could walk."

"It would seem you like to walk alot. But Special, I hate to break it to you, you need rest, walking is out of the option tonight"

Finally they arrived in front of the small cottage and she highlighted from the car, taking her drugs with her. In all normalcy, Derek was supposed to let her go inside her house but he came down also walking her towards the door.

"So this is where you live Miss Special"

"Yes Mr Derek"

"Would you mind me visiting? I would love to hang out with you?"

"I.... really do not want to disrupt your activities sir. "

"You are not disrupting anything. Please let me have your cell number?. I want to get to know you.You captivate me." Derek added looking excited.

She went inside her house and came out with her phone. After exchanging numbers, he watched her walk to the door and waved at him.

"Goodnight Special"

"Goodnight Derek"

Oh it was certainly a good night for King Derek Osagie indeed!
