Chapter 6: Friends

Verhyn was drained after only a few hours standing inside the gigantic palace, socializing with other kids. He needs to purposely leave his personal maid Laina to go to his dorm alone just to have some privacy since all those loud noises from earlier really make him feel nauseous and dizzy. His inner battery was completely extracted, his eyes lid barely even open, it was as if there's a heavyweight trying so hard to pull the lashes shut, his arms and hands lying straight on the soft cold bed.

Verhyn couldn't even eat a proper dinner because so many girls kept swarming towards him like he was honey, and they were ants. At the same time, the boys didn't give this poor prince a chance to escape the crowd either! They kept asking was the rumor about his weird strength was the truth, was his eyes really blessed by gods, was this was that.

Regardless of what had happened there, he luckily made some friends, they are all special and quirky individuals. He somehow escaped the horde thanks to them. He made 3 friends, to him that was a great effort and worth the time because it's so hard to keep a conversation with the others as normal as possible before they started asking those personal background stories...

First, Verhyn's now is 17 years old, compared to Kaidal, that boy was 2 years younger but thanks to his family genes or whatever, the younger prince was taller than him. Verhyn felt a sense of familiarity towards the younger boy, but he still denied it. Kaidal has a weird vibe around him, he didn't talk much during the ceremony, but he was really enthusiastic about any topic related to magicians and magic. He sometimes performs magic in front of the crowd and does some other tricks as well, the performance was really eye-catching and wonderfully made too.

Secondly, Verhyn met a warm, energetic and passionate character, her name was Marilyn. She has short curly brown hair, a pair of big black eyes, fair skin with red hearted lips. She's the most lively of Verhyn's group, she usually started a topic first, helping the conversations keep going, sharing ideas, getting engaged in different kinds of stories that are being discussed.

Last but not least, Luriel, this boy was the first person that Verhyn was able to start a conversation with normally. Sadly, after both of them get to understand each other a little more, Luriel really acts more freely, speaks a lot and fast as well, Verhyn's impression of him wasn't that bad either since he thought that Luriel was likely to be a class clown. Luriel told him lots of jokes, and he even gossiped like those other girls too. This character to Verhyn was very dynamic.

Just like what Verhyn was thinking before, he was glad that he was able to make some new relationships, entertaining each other and most importantly, he was pleased with the result. As Verhyn's mind was still being thoughtful about this newly achieved friendship, the moon outside the window had already risen high and shone brightly through the kingdom, the air was starting to get quite cool too. Putting aside that matter, Verhyn decided to sleep considering the fact that he still lacks hours of sleep on the way here. Finally, he found peace to himself under the quilt, and soon the boy was fast asleep.

" Dear, do you think he's going to be fine?" The king nervously asked his wife as he clenched his fist on the armchair where he was sitting. The Queen obviously was getting annoyed over how this man keeps bickering and worrying about their lovely son nonstop. Seeing that the man himself isn't planning to stop any time soon, Aeryn needs to act, so she put down her book on the table softly and said:

" Vihaan dear, if you're so concerned about our child, you shouldn't have urged him to go then."

Then the Queen just picks up the unfinished book and keeps reading it as though her sentence wasn't going to hurt anyone. It is unfortunate that to the King, he mistakenly felt that the Queen had said the sentence with the most sarcastic tone he had ever heard of, he was drastically shocked, his slight blue eyes already glimmering with fake tears and there goes the drama King.

The couple kept blabbering continuously until the King had to give up his effort and start putting his trust in his child. To a certain degree, parents must put trust into their children once they finally reach a stage where they can grow enough feathers on their wings to fly freely away from the caretaker's comfort zone. It never feels so great for a bird to keep getting caged inside without having any chance to explore the extraordinary of this world before its life ends.
