The storm gained in intensity, and the wipers on high barely kept the rain off the windshield. Trent drove cautiously, which meant it was taking forever to get where we were going. My shivers subsided.
"Getting warm?" he asked.
"A little." I pulled the blanket tighter around my shoulders and curled my legs up on the seat.
"We're almost there." He was silent for the remainder of the drive, until he came to a stop in front of a massive metal gate. "Stay here."
He hopped out of the truck, shoved open the gate, and then got back into the cab. He was soaked, his hair dripping onto his shoulders.
I sat up straight. He'd brought me to the place Sean had buried Annmarie, the same place he'd brought me right after I'd found out he was a vampire. We'd skipped half a day of school to come here. Trent had told me about Sean and Annmarie and the baby.
My breath hitched at all the memories. "Why are we here?" I asked.
