Jeannie - Grief

The day before the funeral, my husband arrived with our two youngest in two. They arrived several hours after it grew dark. I had changed into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt and had readied the beds for them all. Where else would we have stayed but at Mom’s? I had also stopped at the store by way of Erick and gathered some food for them to eat as well as more coffee. I knew over the next few days others would be at the house to sort things out. Might as well have something on hand to keep everyone fed and happy.

I had wanted to sit out on the porch and wait on them, but the mosquitos let me know they were in charge of the night. I could deal with even the heat of summer if it wasn’t for those blasted insects. So I chose to sit and watch TV in Dad’s old recliner. It almost felt like his arms were around me. I needed it at that moment.
