Jeannie - Survivors

Surprisingly, things went well for the first few hours. Leslie calmed down, and we dealt fairly with Mom’s belongings. We decided to give her clothes to a charity box at Leslie’s work. Seems she had a lot more clothes than we had realized. We even found some of Dad’s she had kept.

The kitchen turned a little tense. At first, Leslie didn’t want a single item. Erick continued not wanting anything even for his own children. Mary chose a few pieces that meant something to her. When I asked for some of Mom’s baking pans, Leslie threw a fit.

“Do you have to take them all?” Her tone was quite snippy.

I looked her over. “I believe you were the first one to say that you didn’t need any as you had enough of your own.”

“And you don’t?”

I then laughed. “That’s your response? Whatever. Take them.” They were just baking pans.

Her face was hard as she glared at me. “Fine. I don’t care. Take what you want.” With that she stepped away. “I need the bathroom.”
