Friday morning has me joining him, Sherry and JunJie at the Chinese Embassy, the young couple excited and chatting away non-stop. JunJie keeps telling them about the places he's going to take them to, the things he wants to show them, and Jai's as enthusiastic as they are, sneaking glances at me through it all, smiling delighted. I've never seen him this eager for anything.
We go out for dinner in the evening, but when xiao Jie and Sherry want to go out drinking and dancing, Jai's the first to refuse. I insist we join them, knowing how much Jai likes to go clubbing, but he puts his foot down and his lips to my ear, whispering he wants to be alone with me. So we head back to the hotel room, and end up chatting about the trip to China, Jai asking question after question, so curious and interested, so eager to learn. He warms my heart; he does.
"Let me read what you're working on," I tell him, after a pause in our conversation, one we use to kiss.
