The Tavern Effect
"Smile Mr. Husband" Kai teased to the stern-faced vampire, who slightly pinched his arm making him squeak.
"I am little shy honey" Augustus's cold voiced sarcasm made the other chuckle.
Both made an entry as a couple, ignoring everyone around them. Kai didn't leave a chance to make the former cringe by holding onto his arm, blinking at him cutely. Augustus's rolled his eyes. Once went inside, they parted away quickly from each other and soon caught up with the other two, Moon and Ivan. The four of them sat together in a lounge.
Ivan couldn't stop gushing over the place. The shiny sparkling lights, groovy music, ecstatic air, eye-pleasing scenarios of beautiful faces, and handsome personalities. He had hardly gone out for socializing thus he felt a bit new to the environment around him. He could feel how people walked past their lounges to have a look at them and he doubted if it was for him. He knew the popularity of his friends and assumed that must be for them. In those visitors, some pretty dolled-up faces came across while stunningly hot guys wavering glances at them.
Ivan avoided looking at them, knowing their intentions are just to meet his popular friends and not an ordinary man like him. He assumed that the guys which were strikingly attractive for one's luck must be coming for Moon as she doesn't look less than any enchantress while the girls were coming for the duplets.
Little did he know the scenario was something else. There was no doubt about Kai and Augustus's popularity but everyone had one question in their minds.
Who is that exquisite piece of art, wrapped in an angelic white silk shirt, sitting with them!
Unlike clueless Ivan, the duplets could read every person walking past or settled eyes on them. They could easily grasp their minds and got to know most of them were interested in Ivan.
The beautiful fluff of cotton has attracted many eyes at him. Augustus knew this was bound to happen, no wonder why he wanted Ivan to wear something else. Kai felt proud of the choice of clothing style he chose for his Man-Friend.
They didn't feel bothered much yet.
While being with each other, Augustus knew Moon is still thinking about him and wanted to talk to him. She sat opposite to him, beside her brother but her eyes were at the raven-haired. The way he avoided her, not even spared a glance that hurt her feelings. She expected him to be uptight but not cold.
The cold one's eyes were on Ivan who sat near him, crossing his legs over another and folding his arms watching to the crowd. Then his eyes sparkled after finding someone known and he tapped on the former's thighs.
"Isn't that supermodel of the year Sasha?" Ivan asked curiously and looked at Augustus for a reply.
He simply shrugged his shoulders. "Must be"
Ivan gestured for him to come closer to talk about something important. Augustus leaned, being all ears for him.
"I heard she had tried to hit on you once?" he whispered near his ear earning a dead serious look from the former.
"No? Was that only rumor? Tell me I won't reveal it. It's a best friend's pact. Come on spill the tea"
He poked his arm, teased him, tried to get words out of his mouth and all could get a blank look.
"Fine! Don't cry at me next time saying why media prints nonsense about you!" Ivan murmured angrily.
He absolutely had no idea that his friend wasn't on the right mind to hear him. His focus was on those doe-shaped innocent eyes, the way his fuller lips moved when talking, and how adorningly his skin radiates in the dim light of the lounge.
He was doomed after seeing such beauty!
Ivan grabbed the menu card checking the food items. "So, what do you want to eat?"
"Definitely you" a slip of tongue caused hazardous accidents. Augustus held back his words as everyone's attention went to him. Words have slipped out of the mouth easily. He found Kai and Moon looking at him. To his side, he could feel a confused human being staring at him.
"I mean whatever you will order Tiny, I will definitely eat" he talked carefully and decided to seal the doors of his mind with cement next time.
The three looked normal while Augustus burnt with awkwardness sitting with them.
He got up excusing himself and left to the washroom.
Meanwhile, Kai's eyes fell on Alpha June standing nearby the bar section. His fists clenched after seeing him there and he got up, leaving Ivan and Moon behind. They indulged themselves in gossiping about the entertainment industry.
Alpha June looked at him and smiled as if saw him for the first time." Kai, how would I find you here? Have a seat, Bartie, one beer" the bartender nodded at him and started pouring the fluid in the big mug.
"I can ask you the same" Kai asked as calmly as possible. He knew June is keeping eye on him which wasn't going well with him.
June chuckled. "Why? Am I refrained to go anywhere?"
The bartender kept the mug of beer in front of Kai. June gestured his eyes to have it. The former calmly grabbed the handle of the mug and sipped the drink thinking about the Alpha in from of him.
"When was the last time we drank together?"
Kai gave him a knowing look. Alpha was smart enough to divert the topic. The Beta in front of him tried to get what is going on inside his mind but June didn't let him have his way.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that? Cant I come here to enjoy?" he talked casually.
"Yeah right, hundred of clubs in the town but you only knew this club" Kai mocked taking no bullshit from the other.
June huffed a sigh. "Heard you get a kind of drink that makes you forget about everything else." he paused and stared with blazing eyes at the former Beta. " So came here to get that" he winked.
"I am not up for any new drama for tonight. I am here to enjoy with my friends"
"I can see that" June looked over him and saw Ivan sitting there with Moon. His eyes returned to the blazing Beta in front of him.

Ivan felt astonished seeing the crowd. The way people danced, grooved, grinding bodies on each other, forgetting about the surroundings, and living full of life felt forbidden to him.
Meanwhile, a waitress came there, serving them the offered drinks. Ivan checked the in his wristwatch and waited for his friends to come back.
Moon quickly grabbed the glass of shots and gulped it down. It tasted a little bitter but she have it anyway. She sulked hard over the thought of Augustus not talking to her well nor looking at her. Even though she tried to appear classy and attractive, changed her way of dressing for him but still, it was hard to catch his attention. What else she could do more to grab his focus on her. And now seeing him gone somewhere, she cursed on her fate.
Ivan watched her gulping down four glasses of shots in one go. He felt something isn't right with her.
"Moon, are you alright?" he asked in concern.
Moon looked at him and smiled lazily then tears flowed from her eyes. Ivan gasped looking at her crying. He got up and went near her feeling apprehensive.
"What happened Moon? Why are you crying?"
She covered her face in her palms, refusing to show her crying face.
"Tell me, Moon, did anyone say something to you?" he asked receiving a nod from her.
"Was that Kai? Did he scold you?"
Moon shook her head.
"Then who was it? Has Augustus said something to you?"
That was the problem! He wasn't even talking to her and it hurt her badly. She shook her head answering Ivan.
"Then what happened Moon? Something has happened. You can share with me! Otherwise, you will also make me cry!"
She snapped her face at him after hearing those words and wiped her tears. "Nothing. I wasn't crying but something was bothering in my eyes"
But it didn't seem like that! Ivan thought seeing how effortlessly she masked her emotions.
"Let's have drinks together" she picked one shot and offered it to the human who was kind enough to her to talk and pay attention.
"No, I don't drink" Ivan tried to refuse but she whined.
"C'mon grab it, Ivan, don't let this time slip off. Just enjoy" sounding slightly tipsy she becomes ready to make the former human do as she says.
"But Moon" Ivan refused but Moon got up from her seat and sat beside him.
"I am not going to hear any excuses tonight. Come on" she moved the glass near his mouth.
Ivan tried to stop her, "I can't-" but she quickly poured the drink down to his throat, making him drink it in one go.
His eyes squinted as the vodka burnt his throat a bit when he gulped it.
He exhaled after enduring the taste and sensation after opening his eyes and saw her ready with another shot holding in front of him.
"Drink it like a man, yasss" she cooed while making him drink another round and one more and it kept going on until Ivan's head spun in the intoxication of alcohol.
In a matter of seconds, the alcohol captivated his senses. He felt himself floating in the air. He looked at the spacious empty couch and sprawled over it. In the haze, his body rolled down from the couch to the floor and his eyes fell on the pair of long smooth bare legs. The waitress has reached there holding a tray of more refreshments for them. Ivan held her feet and went further touching her legs in an attempt to get up.
After standing on his wobbly feet, he bowed his head to her. "Thank you sister"
Moon couldn't stop laughing at him when he got up and took the tray from the waitress's hand. The tavern boy smiled lazily then his mood suddenly changed into anger realizing his friend's behavior for leaving him alone again.
"WHERE ARE MY TWO INSEPARABLE PAIR OF BALLS?" he yelled while finding his two male specimens.
"Augustus isn't interested in me so I don't know where he is!" Moon bluntly talked while Ivan looked too drunk to hear her words. His eyes scanned around finding a tattooed nape sitting over the bar section with none other than June.
What is he doing with his brother when they all come there to enjoy themselves together?
"I got one, I got one" Ivan slammed his hands on the couch while getting up and turned his feet towards the bar section.
The next he walked through the crowd, bumping on almost everyone, shrieking from the girl's squeaks, and getting flustered after coming across a few handsome guys.
Meanwhile, Moon gulped her drinks one by one and scanned around finding the one she loves soulfully.
There he is!
She saw him standing at the far corner of the club. She got up determined to talk to him today even if he pushes her away!
