Chapter 3

Latifa was one of the towns in Warthford City, and it was also where Caleb resided.

Right now, he is currently walking along the side of the road, where mansions are lined up. The town of Latifa is divided into four sectors. The mayor state is where the town administration is located, the marketplace is where all trading occurs, the residential area is where ordinary people live, and finally, the noble state is where he is currently walking. He came to a halt in front of a large mansion five minutes later.

He looked around, but he couldn't see a single player. Everyone is naturally busy leveling up or completing a quest near the Mayor Administration building.

But, he was also doing the same thing. He will also take a quest inside the mansion in front of him.

"I'd like to speak with the head of this house. Please inform her that I'd like to assist her with her current problem."

He addressed the two guards stationed at the gate. They simply looked at him as if he were being examined and nodded slightly before admitting him.

"Are you saying you'd like to help me?"

Caleb was being watched by a woman in her thirties. She was wearing a hat that appeared to be a witch's hat at first glance. The woman is, in fact, a witch.

Witch is one of the Legacy's classes. It is included in the mage category, along with the other three classes.

Witches have distinct fighting styles because they use magical items to enhance their damaged spells and hinder their opponents. They can also use arcane magic, which the Warlock class is more adept at.

"Yes, madame Trayne," he answered calmly to the woman.

"Fine. You see, three months ago I was working on a new item, but it was stalled because I couldn't find a suitable herb. Could you assist me in finding it?"

Ting!

[System: Unique Quest "The Witch's item completion" had been triggered.

Quest Content:

Trayne, a noble witch, was upset because her item was still lacking. She requires a suitable herb for her item but is unable to obtain it. Gather the necessary material and deliver them to Trayne.

Difficulty: C

Note: Rewards all vary to the player's level]

A quest panel popped in front of him.

Quests are essential components of the game Legacy. Aside from leveling by killing monsters or completing dungeons, quests can provide players with a significant amount of EXP and rewards.

There are five different types of quests. It was categorized as Normal, Hidden, Unique, Epic, and Legendary. Aside from NPCs, certain conditions and events can also provide players with different kinds of quests.

The quest from Unique to Legendary, on the other hand, was only triggered once. As a result, the value of these quests increased.

Right now, he has just triggered a unique quest. It was one of the three unique quests situated in Latifa town that he knows.

He couldn't exactly recall how many quests were available in town, but he could remember all of the most notable quests from his past.

He nodded at the noble witch.

"I will gladly accept your request, madame." He said.

[System: You accepted the request.]

"Alright, now go. I am expecting your success."

Caleb didn't waste any time and left the mansion right away. This quest was significant to him because it could provide him with an advantage in the early levels. Because of the difficulty, the rewards are generous.

The requirement was to bring only one herb. Though at first thought it was simple, he knows why this quest has C difficulty.

In his previous life, the guild leader of a certain guild triggered this quest, and his entire guild moved into action by inquiring in the market or searching in the forest, making it a topic of discussion.

They tried every herb they could find, but it wasn't the right material. Later, they eventually completed the quest after discovering a specific location with a unique herb growing.

He was familiar with the location and was confident that he could easily obtain it. He kept walking and arrived at the market a few minutes later. He spent ten coppers and bought a single [Dexterity Potion].

He looks at his purse and there's no money left in there.

Players would start with five simple pieces of bread and 10 coppers, so for him, this potion is pretty costly. Potions in the game have different effects on players. This [Dexterity Potion] adds 10 points of dexterity when consumed for 5 minutes.

This kind of potion was useful at early levels, but players would not still spend money on this potion because of its cost. It will be better to buy an HP and MP potion that is cheaper.

But he didn't mind this because he needed it to complete his quest. He then made his way to the town gate in the north section. After stepping outside the town, he went straight to the forest.

There were a lot of monsters in the forest around Latifa. Monsters ranging in level from 1 to 10 have roamed this area.

He noticed many players partying to hunt level 1 normal [Dark Rabbit] monsters on his way through to the level 1 monster area. He ignored these people and continued walking deeper into the forest until he reached the area where level 5 monsters dwelled.

He took small steps to avoid aggroing the monsters around him, as he was only a level 1, he would definitely be killed instantly.

After a long detour, he had finally arrived in front of a cave. He entered inside with caution and a keen sense of his surroundings. On his way through, he occasionally sees small stones that emit small lights protruding from the cave walls and ground.

Not long after he arrived in one of the wider places of the cave. Ahead of him was a single [Lily Wolf], who was currently eating a herb.

——

[Lily Wolf] (Normal)

Level: 4

HP: 380/380

——

This monster frequently feeds on herbs, particularly [Lily Grass], which Caleb needs for the quest.

He can see the [Lily Grass] growing near the wolf, so he must confront this monster to obtain it.

"I was expecting this, but level 4 huh."

He sighed as he prepared his sword. If others would see him now, they would probably view his actions as reckless because he was still only level 1 and the wolf in front of him was level 4.

But for him, it was just a little difficult. After drinking the [Dexterity Potion] he brought, he gained 10 points of dexterity, causing his speed to rise.

He then leaps into action, alarming the wolf. It stopped eating and charged at him, attempting to pin him down.

He, on the other hand, skillfully stepped back on the right side and delivered a basic [Slash] to its neck. The number 12 floats around in its head.

He didn't draw his sword while it was still on the wolf's neck. Instead, he shoved the monster to the other side, causing it to wobble a little. Not losing this chance, he followed up with a single thrust, inflicting critical damage to 16.

Although his damage was minor, he was confident that he could kill this monster with his reflexes and speed.

The wolf sprang up again at him at the end of his attacks, but he timely stepped backward, dodging the attack on time.

Another group of damages floated again in the head of the wolf as he made a counterattack.

In anger, the [Lily Wolf] let out a growl as its two fangs raised a slight glow. He sensed this was a deadly attack and raised his sword immediately.

Ping!

A metallic sound resounded inside the cave.

The fangs of the wolf were met by its opponent's sword. Caleb timely parried the deadly fangs, but he received 55 damage in exchange. Almost all of his health bar vanished in an instant.

He clicked his tongue as he quickly retracted his sword and hastily retreated. He forgot the one skill his opponent owned.

The slight glow was a sign that it was raising its speed for a single attack. Luckily, he quickly made a decision, and if he had not, he would be dead right now.

The wolf made a charge again, but this time it was back to normal speed. He didn't have a problem with this and decided to land a few attacks before the [Dexterity Potion] expired.

Three minutes had passed and the health of the [Lily Wolf] was depleted and only 20% remained. Occasionally it will let out a growl, but now he was already prepared and know what was coming. He didn't dare to receive it head-on and decided to dodge it carefully.

After a minute, a final series of values floated at the top of the wolf's head as it was finally defeated and then burst into light.
