Little Doggy, the Troublemaker

Huvel ordered the servants to free Luc from the cuffs and put him in a bed. He was quite sure that the trauma from the few days in the dungeon was enough to make Luc tremble every time he recalled it.

Huvel went back to his bed chamber to rest. The renovation of his bed chamber was already finished as he made all the workers prioritize it. The well insulated room was no longer cold at night so he did not need his 'bed warmer' anymore. He lied down on his spacious bed alone.

When he was about to fall asleep, he heard a knock on the door.

"Who is it?"

The door opened a bit without any reply. Little doggy's small head appeared from the small opening. His pointed ears were down. His big round eyes met Huvel's and looked down the next instant.

When Huvel was about tell him to sleep in Bellamy's room, he heard a small voice.

"Can… Can I… sleep here?"

It was the first time Huvel heard little doggy spoke. In the past few days, he was like a mute. In case that he did not understand human language, Huvel tried speaking to him using the few hucanis words he knew. However, the hucanis boy did not respond to him at all. Huvel thought that the boy either lost memories or wasn't able to learn any language from the start. So, it surprised Huvel when he heard the boy said meaningful words.

"So, you can speak after all."

Huvel mumbled in a low voice but the boy heard it responded with a nod.

"Ha! You were playing dumb all this time?"

The boy did not respond this time, noticing the change in Huvel's tone. He glanced at Huvel and then stared at the floor again.

"I don't want bad boys in my room. Go back and sleep with Bellamy."

Little doggy looked at Huvel again. His big eyes looked teary as if he was about to cry any moment.

Huvel could not look at those eyes long. He gave in.

"Never mind. Suit yourself."

Little doggy was re-energized instantly. He entered the room and leapt onto the bed. He, however, did not lie beside Huvel and slept at his usual place, near the end of the bed. The bed was quite big so Huvel could move his feet freely even when little doggy slept there. Even so, Huvel felt that their sleeping position looked weird with Bellamy's absence!

-----

The next day, little doggy woke up before Huvel. When Huvel was about to go to the dining room to have dinner, the boy followed him. Unable to persuade him to not to follow him, Huvel ordered the servants to bring the breakfast to his room as a change once in a while. Little doggy's eyes were sparkling while having meal with Huvel.

Huvel told Bellamy to hide little doggy in his room after having breakfast. But then, little doggy did not listen to them and cried! Huvel could not stand the cry and casted [Sleep] on him. The brat slept for two hours and woke up to find himself in Bellamy's room. While Bellamy was not paying attention, he sneaked out of the room to look for Huvel.

The servants working in the castle were surprised to see a child going around. They had not heard that there was a guest so they went after the child to catch him. Little doggy ran away when he saw the servants. As he ran, more and more servants were after his tail and it caused a loud ruckus in the castle. When the servants finally caught them, Chance came out of the office of the lord and summoned everyone into the office.

"…is what happened," a servant reported the situation.

Huvel facepalmed. He had not thought that the little hucanis would cause him that much trouble. Other than the servants, there were people renovating the castle in the day time. He did not want anyone to spread rumours relating to the hucarnis boy. He brainwashed everyone that saw little doggy.

It took Huvel quite some time and mana to cast [False Memory] on many people. He rested the rest of the day to meditate and replenish his mana. He slept early. When he woke up the next morning, he found little doggy at his foot.

"Sigh!"

The same thing happened again. Little doggy threw a tantrum wanting to follow Huvel. Huvel, this time, casted [Dark Shroud] around little doggy to cut off the noises. He ordered Bellamy to watch him closely… and yet the same thing as the day before happened, not just that day but three days straight.

Huvel got tired of the déjà vu so on the fifth day, he announced that he would adopt little doggy!

"Master, you do not have a heir yet. If you adopt a boy now, things would get complicated when you have a son of your own blood."

The first to raise an objection was Chance, the butler of the house.

"How can I have a son when I only sleep with men?" Huvel pointed out a fact. He ignored Chance's fake cough and continued, "Saying things about heir and such is too early at this point. In the first place, I'm only thinking of looking after him for a few months. I do not even plan to give him my surname."

"… I understand. But give him a new name at least, master. It would be inappropriate to call the adoptive son of the lord 'little doggy'."

"A name? Hmm… since he is a puppy boy… I'll name him 'Pechie'."

"Pechie? It sounds quite weird. Are you sure, master?"

"Absolutely."

"As you wish, master."

The lord had given the order so it was the butler's task to complete the process. Chance knelt down in front of little doggy so that they could talk face to face.

"Little doggy, Master Huvel says he wants to adopt you. Do you agree to be adopted by him?"

"Adopt?" Little doggy questioned him back while tilting his head to the side and scratching it with his tiny hand.
