Huvel got on the carriage. Meodinand followed after him. His brother, Meonando, was left behind in the castle.
The two twin who were always together separated after their 'first experience' with Huvel. While Meodinand was too embarrassed to see his younger brother and avoided him, Meonando was afraid that his elder brother was still mad with him and was not brave enough to talk to him.
"It is fine if it is only me getting humiliated. At least, I can protect Nando this way."
Meodinand had such thoughts as he sat down in the carriage. Little did he know that his brother whom he thought protected had actually lost his backdoor virginity during the time he was avoiding him.
Huvel smiled at Meodinand who sat beside him reluctantly. He ordered Colin who accompanied him as his attendant to depart. The carriage started to move and the soldiers marched. Their destination was Marquis Boden's manor. Huvel had decided to confront the marquis directly.
However, the real reason for going to the marquis's place in person was because he was tired of dealing with the paperwork and the noises from the renovation of the castle. He dumped everything onto Chance's head and decided to travel for a change of pace.
Karl and his trainee soldiers joined the journey as guards. Huvel wanted them to continue their training but it could not be help. As a lord, he could not travel alone as he pleased. He had to do things in ways befitting a lord. On that note, he also sent a letter to Marquis Boden informing about his visit.
Chance, however, found faults with Huvel's letter. He told Huvel that he could not 'inform of visiting' but must 'request to visit' another lord's territory. If not, it could be counted as trespassing. Nevertheless, Huvel sent that letter and left for Marquis Boden's place without waiting for any reply. Chance could only sigh foreseeing the troubles.
As he had expected, a letter that denied the visit of his lord, Viscount Senebres, arrived three days after he had left. Chance could do nothing about it and ignored the letter as his lord would already have reached the border between the two territories by that time.
Huvel's group passed through the border peacefully after Huvel used some magic on the leader of the guards. He arrived at the city where Marquis Boden lived after travelling for a week.
The group was stopped again by the city guards before they could enter the city gates. Huvel had anticipated that. He did not plan to use magic to solve the problem.
Although he could say that the border guards allowed them to pass because they were intimidated by the fact that he was a viscount, it would be odd if the city guards did the same. After all, city guards had more experience in dealing with nobles and they would not let soldiers of another lord enter the city without prior notice or the permission of their lord.
Nevertheless, the city guard captain was troubled to see a viscount in front of the gates. The viscount did not bring any entry permit and he was not informed of his visit ahead of time either. He could just tell him to go back if he were a noble without title. But he was afraid to tell that to a viscount. And he dared not bother his lord by asking for the entry of the viscount.
While the guard captain was contemplating what to do, Karl ordered his men to bring the 'present'.
"Please inform your lord that Viscount Senebres is here to visit him. Make sure to tell him that Lord Senebres wants to return the gift Lord Boden gave him. This is the gift from my lord to the marquis."
Karl handed a cart that had a big box on it to the captain of the city guards. The guard captain was suspicious of the odd box. He was afraid that he would get into trouble if there were something dangerous inside the box.
"I'm sorry but we have to inspect what is inside the box before…"
"Don't cross the line!"
Karl interrupted the guard captain. He continued while glaring intensely at him, "It is not your place to open the gift of a lord to another lord. Just send it to your lord first. Whether he opens it or leaves it as it is for him to decide."
Although the guard captain was furious for being scolded by a stranger in front of his subordinates, he had to swallow it since what Karl said was right. He ordered his subordinates to send the box to their lord.
After some time had passed, a seemingly important man came out of the town and greeted Huvel. He introduced himself as the butler of the marquis's house and led Huvel's group into the city. Once they got into the city, the butler told Huvel that only his close attendants were allowed to enter the marquis's mansion and he had arranged an inn for the soldiers to stay.
Though Huvel could guess what the marquis had in mind, he could not care less. He brought Karl, Colin and Meonando with him, and made his way to the marquis's mansion. The butler led Huvel and his party into a big hall. There were only several people in the hall. Apart from them, Huvel detected many people in another room. The box he gifted to the marquis was also in the middle of the hall.
"Hahaha! I did not expect that the new viscount from Boswel would visit me. Welcome to my place, Lord Senebres!"
A man with clothes rather plain for a high-ranking noble and a big belly laughed and greeted Huvel. His eyes, however, were not as friendly as his words.
"I thank Lord Boden for his hospitality." Huvel replied with a smile and eyes similar to the marquis. "Lord Boden sent his butler to escort me and even welcome me himself. Though you don't need to, you seemed to be troubled by my visit."
