Entering the Jungle

"You lose the bet, little kitty."

Huvel said with a smirk as he patted Meodinand's fluffy ear. The ear twitched and moved to the other way but Huvel's hand followed it.

"I have to follow your orders all the time anyway, hmph! What is the use of making a bet?"

Meodinand turned to the other side as he was annoyed and did not want to see Huvel's face.

"Are you sulking now? How cute!"

Huvel kissed Meodinand's neck and hugged him from behind. He continued to coax him in a soft voice.

"I'll let you win next time, okay? Don't sulk anymore."

"You don't need to sweet talk to me. I've already given up resisting you anyway."

Meodinand coldly removed the arms that hugged him.

"I'm not sweet-talking you! I mean it when I say you are cute."

"As if I would believe you. Just say what is the absurd thing you want me to do!"

"You are too cold to me! It is not an absurd thing. I will go somewhere in a few days. But I don't want people to know that. So, bring food to this room every day and finish it all by yourself to cover up my absence. Easy, right?"

"Why don't you ask Meonando to do it? He is more obedient to you."

"Hmm… Because I trust you more?"

"Humph! As soon as you leave, I'll let everyone knows it!"

"Ah, my cute kitty is still sulking! Let's have another hot sex when I return, okay? Oops! Did I raise my own death flag? It's not good. Let's do it one more time right away!"

"Huh? What?! No way! My ass is still stinging! Hey, I said no! Why is your thing already hard! NGHHH!"

-----

The next day, Huvel told Karl and Chance that he would go into the jungle to hunt monsters. He had to spend half an hour to reassure Chance that he would come back safely. After that he had to spend the whole morning to convince Karl to not follow him.

People would not know if he disappeared from the castle for a few days since he did not interact with much people daily. However, if Karl were to disappear, his trainees would definitely gossip. Huvel did not want that. He wanted to do things quickly and silently without anyone's notice.

He did not have much to prepare so he decided to leave that night. Though he wanted to go as light as possible, the bag that hold his food and water was not very small since he had to pack up for at least four days. He left the castle under the cover of night. He arrived near the wall around midnight.

The Flying Leaf Nymph covered Huvel in [Camouflage] magic just in case and they reached the inner parts of the wall without any trouble. Afterwards, Huvel casted [Hypnosis] on a guard to learn the structure of the wall and the ways to the exits.

The Wall of Boswel was built to stop monsters from going beyond it so it did not have a gate. Instead, there were a few doors above ground level that were big enough for a man to pass through. They were exits for survey teams that have to enter the jungle for information gather and they were quite high above the ground to prevent smaller monsters from entering.

Huvel chose a door nearest to the ground to exit. There were not many patrols inside the wall so he reached the door in a short time. He put a rope ladder placed near the door in place and hypnotised a nearby patrol to put back the ladder and close the door after he reached the ground.

Under the cover of the nymph's [Camouflage] spell, Huvel safely entered the jungle without being seen by the guards on the watchtowers. Even so, he was still worried that the guards would notice if he fights a monster near to the wall and a disturbance occurs. Therefore, he continued moving into the jungle until the morning.

When the sun rose, he stopped going deeper. He looked for a place to rest. After resting on a tree for a while, he walked around while spreading [Dark Shroud] as far as he could to find the monsters. He found animals that had some mana in them but they were not monsters yet so he neglected them.

Huvel could not find any monster until noon. He felt that night time was dangerous so he decided to sleep early and stay awake all night. He went back to his resting place and slept until the sun set. When he woke up, he ate the dry food he brought and trained using [Dark Vision].

Although most homo species could see well in darkness, Huvel, as a human, could not even after awakening Dark Prowess. When he saw the 1st tier spell [Dark Vision] in Dark Grimoire, he thought he could see things in dark clearly as long as the spell is active. But he was wrong.

[Dark Vision] grants the eyes the ability to see in the dark. But seeing in the dark was very different from seeing in the light so Huvel felt nauseous when he tried to see things using [Dark Vision]. He trained his eyes using [Dark Vision] urgently so that he could adapt. Nevertheless, he could not continue his training after midnight as his eyes were strained.

After midnight, the jungle became awfully quiet. Although it was not a moonless night, the jungle had abundant big trees so it was almost completely dark. There were noises of insects and birds occasionally but they made the atmosphere eerier.
