Chapter 63: Harry Potter - part 1

Harry Potter was happy. He finally had a place that he could truly call home, and when he reflected about it, it was thanks to Lord Ravenclaw. Or at least all started because of his actions.

Harry's first year at Hogwarts has been a totally mindf**. He saw himself in the middle of protecting a valuable artifact from one of his Professors that turned out to be possessed by the vagrant soul of the Dark Lord that killed his parents when he was one year old. It didn't help that he was close to death at least three times during the year. All the people gawking and pointing at him made Harry feel like he was a rare animal that was finally in exhibition, and he for sure didn't like that. The good side of things was that he had finally made some friends.

His second year started promisingly well if he didn't count the crazy house-elf that appeared in his bedroom or the brilliant idea of chasing the Hogwarts Express on a flying car. And then Gilderoy Lockheart happened. The man was a joke as Professor. His classes were not about Defense Against the Dark Arts at all. In his opinion, the class should have changed its name to Gilderoy Lockheart. And the worst of it was that his friend, Hermione, was crushing on the guy like every eight in ten witches in the castle. It got better after the first month. Most of the elder witches had stopped swooning over the blonde peacock, and it was probably because they noticed that the guy was a fraud. But his friend continued with it and he suspected that it was not because he was handsome or because of the charming smile that he always bragged about having gained prizes. He thought it was because he was a writer and the girl worshiped books.

And then, the Halloween incident happened. People started to avoid him like the plague. The whispers behind his back were the worst in his opinion, and even some teachers seemed to be keeping him at an arm's distance. But he could thank Merlin that the Quidditch season was starting and the students' attention was diverted from him to it. Then it came to the blonde peacock again. The poor excuse of a wizard had tried to fix his broken wrist even with him saying 'no' and had managed to vanish all of his arm and hand's bones. Because of that, he had to stay the night inside the Infirmary growing his bones back. Harry was then visited by the crazy house-elf again and discovered that the little creature was responsible for his predicament.

And then, an attack happened. A student, Colin Creevey, was found petrified, just like Filch's cat. At least he was not being pointed as the attacker, but he suspected that it was only because he was stuck inside the infirmary regrowing his hand's bones. The next day, while he was trying to write his homework in the Common Room with his friends, a loud bell sound shook their very being. Everyone was confused about it initially because nobody knew what was the meaning of it. Some talk and expeculation happened about it, but in the end, everyone went back to doing their own stuff, with his friend Hermione running to the library to do some research about it. Yes, everything was back to normal in Harry's opinion.

And then, someone saw that there was a mysterious notice for an out of place feast that night. And everyone was obligated to be there. That night, before the feast could start, the Slytherin's Heir incidents and the loud bell was all the students were gossiping about. Until a strange circle made of white light appeared by the entrance of the Great Hall and four people materialized out of nowhere, that is. A man and three beautiful women. One of them was even fully armored.

It was then that thing started to get better at Hogwarts and in his life. The man, Lord Erik Ravenclaw, was the school's owner and was, apparently, more than a thousand years old and married to one of the founders' daughters. He immediately started to work to put things back into place. Colin Creevey was back from the 'stoned' world, just like Filch's cat. Harry's housemates had tried to pry some information from the hyperactive Colin Creevey, but aside from what they already knew about, they could get much more, but Harry was a little touched when the boy said that he was going to visit Harry in Infirmary when he was petrified. Harry then felt the huge wave of magic passing through him and later Lord Ravenclaw had said that it was the castle's original wards going back up. Then came the questions from the students. He learned that there is a big difference between being immortal and being ageless. Harry was not lost in the irony that Lord Ravenclaw was, in fact, a Hufflepuff. The location of a weird sounding creature was a weird question to be made, but Lord Ravenclaw had said that he would answer ANY question.

Then came the bomb. Lord Ravenclaw explained how he came to own the school. He explained about his identity and revealed that his wife, the same woman who was Rowena Ravenclaw's daughter and was Lady Ravenclaw, was too Lady Slytherin, the true heir to Salazar Slytherin. He was then called a liar by an old student from house Slytherin, but the couple shut him up by summoning from nowhere a beautiful silver sword that had SLYTHERIN engraved on the blade and warned the old Slytherin student about calling a Lord a liar inside his home.

From there on, the climate in the castle got better. The next days were days of change and revelations. Harry again was told that his parents had loved him very much. He already knew that that was true, but having someone show that to him was something totally different. Apparently, his mother was still protecting him even after her death by continuing holding back something that could have transformed him into a puppet. After the stuff was removed from his head, Harry had an invisible weight taken out of his back and the dam was opened. He had shown interest in the branch of magic used by his mother to protect him, and Lord Ravenclaw had given the name of it to him: Magecraft.

Later, in the infirmary with Professor McGonagall and Madam Pomfrey, Harry had confessed of how his treatment was at his relatives house after the Healer had made a more complete scan on his body and had got furious with herself for missing something like that. Professor McGonagall was furious too and started swearing in her native language. She then confessed to Harry that she was present on the night that Dumbledore had delivered him to his aunt's house and had expressed that she was against it vehemently. Madam Pomfrey had said that she would have to contact more experienced Healers to discuss and plan a perfect treatment for him, but she had already ordered him to stay in the infirmary resting and drink some potions.

Harry had told his friends about what was the magic that Lord Ravenclaw was using with the circles made of light and answered a question that his friend Hermione couldn't find the answer to. After the library was renewed, Harry and his friends had used the new system to search for it and had found a lot of new entries about Magecraft, but most of them were restricted for OWL years or up. They had found some books that explained what Magecraft was and they immediately started to read about it. It seems that it is a system of magic that was put together by Merlin using a being's magic called Devils as base. The system uses mathematics, physics and chemistry to draw a formula for the magic. The drawn formula is represented through a circle made of magic light that was named a magic circle. To hide the formula from enemies and from people who want to steal the spell, the formula was hidden under a standard magic circle. This standard magic circle was unique to each person or family and worked like a symbol or a signature and could not be used by others. The kids then remembered the blue magic circle that Lord and Lady Ravenclaw had used and pointed out that it had a raven in the center of it. Ron then pointed out that the white one used in their arrival was different, it was white and had Hogwarts' shield in the middle. With that in mind, Harry and Hermione decided to up their studies on the sciences, they would need it if they wanted to learn this new branch of magic. But Ron just said that he would let it pass, as it was too much of a bother for him. Hermione had searched for information on these magical beings called Devils, but, unfortunately for her, all the information about them was restricted to NEWT students or up. This new system that restricted information was, in Hermione's opinio, not right.

"Books should be available for everyone."

Harry's female best friend had said. Ron started to laugh in her face at that, and some nearby students that heard her started to laugh too. After being reprimanded by Madam Pince, Ron quietly asked her if she could read any book in the non-magical world. Hermione had answered with a yes, but Harry had answered a no at the same time. That had put Hermione out, but after Harry had pointed to her about the books that had age restrictions, she calmed down. Ron then said that it was the same thing here, and the difference was that the books were restricted by the student's year. Madam Pince, who was nearby after having reprimanded Ron, agreed with the boy and said to her that it was the teachers that had organized the new library, and that too much information in the hands of a person who was not trained sufficiently to handle it was dangerous for them and for the one around him.

Harry had entered the classroom for the Defense Against the Dark Arts ready to ignore everything that he was going to hear on it, but was shocked with what he and his friends found. Sitting on the Professor's desk was Lord Ravenclaw and the classroom was totally different from what he was used to. When class started, Professor Ravenclaw had explained why he was there teaching them and that their new teacher would be arriving the next week. Harry was animated for having an Auror as the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor, but then, anything would be better than a stuttering fool or a blond peacock. What happened in the following was his best Defense Against the Dark Arts class until now. The use of illusion magic to show the class the magical creatures without any danger was brilliant, in his opinion, and at the same time he prayed that the illusion spell was not discovered by the twins. He exited the class eager to practice the new spells and research what Professor Ravenclaw asked. Even Hermione had forgotten about the blonde peacock. One could say that Harry was eagerly waiting for the next class.

Later that week, Harry received a very long letter from a man called Sirius Black. Apparently, the man was his godfather and should have taken care of him after his parents' deaths. He then explained in detail how he was thrown in prison without a trial for something that he was innocent for and because of that he could not take care of him. That had lit a little flame of hope inside Harry. Hope of not having to return to the Dursleys' house in the summer. The letter continued with Sirius Black asking to meet him during the weekend, so they could talk and know each other. This letter's information was reinforced by the Daily Prophet news of the capture of the man responsible for his parents' death. Harry then talked with his head of house, Professor McGonagall, about the letter and she suggested to be present during the meeting. Harry agreed. Professor McGonagall had shown him that she cared about him, and he trusted the woman.

The meeting happened that weekend. Sirius Black was accompanied by another man that seemed to have seen better days. The man introduced himself as Remus Lupin, and like Sirius Black, he was very good friends with his father and mother during and after school. Harry was put off with that information and asked the man why he had not searched for him if he was such good friends with his parents. Remus Lupin then explained that he tried to. He even entered with a process in the Wizengamot to get Harry's guard, but he was vehemently barred for even continuing the process because of his 'special' condition. When Harry asked what the condition was and after fidgeting a lot and with some incentive from Sirius Black, Remus Lupin confessed to Harry that he was a werewolf. He told Harry that he had been bitten when he was a kid by a man who wanted revenge against his father, and because werewolves had no rights whatsoever, he was barred in every instance that he tried to see Harry. He even admitted that he had tried some less legal ways of searching for Harry, but all of them came as blanks. It seems that the protections put on the place that Harry was could block all kinds of different methods of search. The adults traded histories about their time in Hogwarts and Harry's parents, with Professor McGonagall even offering some comments on them.
