CHAPTER EIGHT

"How come there were two werewolves" Dora asked after they are a bit far from the werewolves

"Well the other came to save me when the rogue got angry and tried to kill me because I took one of its eyes". Violet explained

"You took one of its eyes? Like plucking it with your hand?". Dora asked her eyes twinkling in amazement

"Not like that idiot". Violet shook her head chuckling a bit "I used a broken branch to pop it". She explained

"Oh my God, that's even better. I always knew you had that bone in you". Dora grinned but Violet just rolled her eyes

"How'd you get the wound?". Dora asked pointing to the hand on her shoulder

"The rogue. It hurts but nothing too serious". Violet shrugged

"I'm sorry". Dora suddenly apologized looking down. This made Violet stop them as she stared at her.

"Why are you apologizing?". She raised a brow

"Because it's my fault, if I hadn't forced you to confess your feelings, none of these would have happened". Dora said sniffing "ouch! What was that for?". Dora yelped raising her head up as a heavy knock landed on her head

"That's for been stupid. You're not at fault for any of these, better understand that else I keep giving you heavy knocks till you do". Violet narrowed her eyes, her good hand on her waist. Dora stares at Violet and couldn't help but grin, not just at her words but her stance, the way she had a wounded hand around her shoulder, the other good one on her waist and her strength on her good leg while the wounded one is slightly bent, not to forget her narrowed eyes

"You look terrible but I love you still". Dora smiled which made Violet groan and narrowed her eyes more "not like you look any better". She retorted which made Dora laugh. But she knew it wasn't true. Dora looked a lot better, she had no physical bodily injury and if not for her slight limping and now dirty clothes from the rogue's throw, one wouldn't believe she was ever in the forest. Whereas she looked like a soldier coming back from a war, with injuries and tattered clothes, she almost didn't recognize herself.

"Yeah you're right". Dora agreed grinning as they continued their half walk half run around the forest, looking for ways to get out

"It's a lake Violet! Look over there". Dora suddenly exclaimed excited as she stared ahead after they seemed to have been walking for hours

"Huh?". Violet who was staggering by her side and falling asleep every few minutes sluggishly raised her head confused as she squinted her eyes to see the lake but her sight were beginning to lose focus

"What lake?". She asked still confused

"Over there, see, there's a small clearing with only a lake allowing one to see the sky above the lake". Dora grinned

"How do you know that and why are you so happy about that?". Violet raised a lazy brow at her

"Well I've been to that lake a few times when I need to breathe". Dora replied

"Huh? You've been there?". Violet asked more confused, her brain is currently messed up and Dora is making it worse with her parabbles

"Yes". Dora smiled happy which annoyed Violet

"For God's sake Dora can you just say the whole story and stop keeping me waiting and confused". She exclaimed, annoyed, which made Dora jolt in surprise. Good, now she had to use most of the small energy she is trying to save

"Sorry. I'm just so happy". Dora smiled sheepishly but Violet chose to ignore her and tried to walk away. If she thought she'd keep her brain muddled she is wrong.

"Hey where are you going". Dora held her hand back over her shoulder "you're hurt" she added with a frown

"Well since you've refused to tell me how you know the lake I might as well find out". Violet gave an expressionless face

"Oh that. The lake isn't far from mum's garden in the backyard". Dora explained

"Huh? So the lake isn't far from your house?". Violet eyes lit up at the announcement

"Yes, well it's about a 20-30 mins walk". She nodded

"Really? Then what are we waiting for? Hurry up, drag me towards the lake". Violet commanded as she tried walking fast only to wince in pain and slowed down

"Be careful Violet, you're wounded". Dora shook her head with a smile as she assisted her

"Thanks for stating the obvious". Violet rolled her eyes while Dora just smiled. She knew she shouldn't take whatever Violet said to heart, though she's been cranky and has a right to be.

"I'm so thirsty I could literally go down like an animal and suck in water from this lake". Violet commented the moment they got to the lake then she looked up at the sky, it was night already, she thought.

"My house isn't that far anymore, just down that cleared path". Dora gestured to the path "you could at least wait right? Not that seeing you down on all fours wanting to get a drink from the river isn't a sight I'd want to see. I would even capture it if only I had my phone". She chuckled

"You lost your phone". Violet inquired "guess I'm not the only one who lost something in that damn forest". She added

"You know if we were at home, you'd have put a quarter into the swear jar". Dora smirked while Violet stuck out her tongue "and no I didn't lose it in the forest, I left it at home. A really stupid act on my part". She added which made Violet shake her head, typical Dora

"Oh yh, speaking of home, Dora can I stay at your place tonight?". She asked

"Hmm sure, why though?". Dora asked, confused. It wasn't that they don't have sleepovers, it's just she thought Violet might want to go home instead especially after a day like this

"Well when I ran into the forest before I lost all my cell phone network, my dad called. I told him I'd be having a sleepover at your place, because I didn't want him to worry about me and well, I needed space". She explained sheepishly

"Oh. Well you're welcome at mine anytime". Dora shrugged with a smile

"Thank you". She smiled back just as they heard the sound of a twig breaking from being stepped down. Immediately they swiped their heads to the noise and behold was the most beautiful young man they've ever set their eyes on. He looked to be about Daniel's age and his eyes were unnaturally silver, they even glowed and twinkled under the moonlight. And he also stared back at them with an expressionless face. Violet couldn't help but feel a pang of pain while Dora noticed he seemed to have been coming from the path leading to her house. But all these action and thoughts had happened in about 3 seconds or so and their eye contact were cut short by a sudden bellow of their names in relieve

"Dora! Violet! Thank God you are both safe". A familiar voice called out. They both turned their heads to the voice to see a worn-out and tired looking Daniel a few feets away, and the unknown man used the moment to disappear. Dora could feel Violet go rigid suddenly by her side

"I'm so glad you both are safe, I've been searching everywhere for you both". He said in concern as he came closer

"Are you okay, you look really injured". He asked Violet as he examined her

"I'm fine. Dora let's go". She said expressionless as she forcefully turned her and Dora around which added pressure to her feet and made her stumble almost falling but she was held back by Daniel's hand on her waist. She couldn't deny the electricity that zipped through her from his touch

"You should be careful, you're injured". He whispered behind her. She could feel his breath on her neck

"I'm fine. Let me go". She hissed, removing his hands and standing as straight as she could in her state "Dora let's go please". She pleaded to Dora

Noting her tone Dora nodded, gave Daniel a glare and went closer to her to put their hands on eachothers shoulders. But it seems Violet's injury has gotten worse as she couldn't seem to move her injured leg and her wounded arm hurts so much and every step they took they almost staggered almost falling

"I can't move, my leg hurts". Violet whimpered as she tried keeping her tears at bay. They had just managed to walk three steps

"We could sit for while if you want". Dora suggested

"We can't be out here this late". Daniel said from behind them "Dora can you walk well?". He asked Dora who looked behind them and gave him a suspicious look before nodding

"Good, just walk ahead of us then". He replied walking closer to them

"Us?". Dora asked with a raised brow

"Hmm". He replied just as he removed Violet's hand around Dora's shoulder and settled her on his back

"What do you think you're doing". Violet asked weakly, she didn't even have the strength to argue or confront him

"Helping you". He replied in a stern tone leaving no room for argument not that she has the strength to argue. Though he himself wasn't that strong right now, he could carry her to their house which wasn't that far from this lake. It was the least he could do for her to amend his action earlier

"You sound like it's not your fault all this happened". Dora scoffed giving him a glare

"Can we discuss this at home?". He sighed defeated

"Why? Feeling attacked?". She mocked

"Dora". He warned. Sensing his tone she rolled her eyes but said nothing and walked in front

"Just be careful with her. She's weak as it is. If she falls down, get ready to be skinned alive". She threatened over her shoulder before turning around and walking.

Her threat made Daniel chuckle as he whispered "like I'd ever let her get hurt again". Violet who was at the edge of passing out when she heard his whisper couldn't help but feel confused at his words, doesn't he hates her

"You'd better keep your promise this time". Dora muttered under her breath too but he heard it and smiled
