The abduction

It's been a week since I last saw Stefan, and I feel bad since I said hurtful things to him, only to find out later that he found my video camera, which is hidden in the middle of the forest.

"Hey, evil sis."

I turned to my brother, who put his arm around my shoulder while walking in the hallway.

"Tell mom that I have a band practice later, so no need to wait for me."

I removed his arms around my shoulder, and then I halted.

"You're in a band?"

I raised an eyebrow at him. I knew he liked music, but I had no idea he was in a band.

"Yep," He said, popping the letter P

"In fact, we will join the battle of the bands."

My lips formed an "o" in awe of what my brother had just said. I didn't expect that because he seems to be a shy person. I was abruptly reminded of the school's forthcoming 40th anniversary, which includes a battle of the bands. I should take advantage of this chance to keep myself occupied and stop thinking about Stefan and vampires.

At 6 pm, I left the campus and found mom's car parked just at the entrance. I smiled and waved at her as I entered inside.

"Where's your brother?" I buckled my seatbelt and looked at my mother.

"He said he has a band practice for the upcoming battle of the bands. "

Mom looked amazed too. My brother can be sloppy sometimes, but he has a lot of talents; he can play guitar and piano. He's good at playing online games too, and he's pretty smart. Meanwhile, I'm his opposite, I have no talent, and I'm not good at academics; in fact, I hate studying.

"Oh, okay, let's go."

I nodded, and she started driving. Today is our schedule to go to the farm and pick up some mangoes and tomatoes. Mango is our favorite fruit, so we go to Lolo Juan's farm every month since he grows mangoes, tomatoes, and other fruits and vegetables. They are my mother's friends, so they allowed us to take baskets of mangoes for a reasonable price. Then eventually, we became close; they even considered us as their grandchildren.

"Just wait for me here and don't come out."

I frowned as my mother opened the door.

That's strange since we typically see them together because Lolo Juan and his wife always give us hot chocolate, which is our favorite.

"But I want to see them."

I noticed that she seemed agitated like something was bothering her.

"Let's just visit them next time. I'll be quick; lock the car when I leave."

"I love you."

She kissed my forehead before I could even respond; she had already left. Even though I had so many questions running in my head, I still obeyed my mom's order. Perhaps she is in a rush because she has an important meeting. I locked the car and plugged in my earphones to listen to music while I was waiting. Time has passed, and I started to get bored; I took off my earphones and checked the time; I was surprised that it'd been an hour since my mom left. I tried to contact her since I assumed she was chatting with them, but she did not answer the phone, which made me worried. While I was inside the car, I looked at Lolo Juan's house, and the lights were on, indicating that there were people inside.

I took a deep breath and stepped out of the car. I try to calm myself as I walk towards the house. I was conditioning my mind, convincing myself that nothing terrible was happening. I feel my heart racing as I get closer to their Lolo Juan's house. When I got there, I tried to smile as I opened the door, but the smile on my face vanished. I feel that my heart has stopped beating for a second, and when reality hits me, I cover my mouth in shock, and I can hear my heart beating fast.

My legs trembled, and I felt like I was going to faint.

Lolo and Lola were lying on the floor, drenched in their blood with their heart out. I closed my eyes firmly and gulped hard because I felt terrible. I was about to check them when I heard a scream from outside.

That was the voice of my mother!

I immediately ran to the window to check, and it was right; it was my mom, and she was fighting with two men. I was stunned seeing how she fought with those two men who are not just ordinary people; the other guy has super speed, so he can easily dodge my mom's attack. I was about to go out and help my mom, but I was frozen in my place when I saw the other guy's face.

It was the hunter!

Stefan was right; the hunter is after my mom. I immediately hide when the hunter turns his head in my direction. My hands shake as I search for my phone in my pocket, but I realize I must have left it inside the car. I peeked again and was startled because my mom was facing me while the vampire held her this time.

I gasped but immediately covered my mouth with my hand. I felt like my whole world stopped when I saw blood continuously dripping from my mother's mouth. What breaks me more is that she is currently looking at me with those helpless eyes; she shook her head and mouthed, 'run.' I'm tired and a complete mess; I couldn't even think properly. Even though my mom was weak, she was still trying to fight.

Suddenly I heard footsteps approaching in here, and I panicked. It must be the hunter! MY heart keeps beating fast as the footsteps draw closer. I looked around to find a place to hide; then I saw another door; I quickly ran over there and escaped.

I was about to get back in the car to ask for help, but I was shocked when I saw the vampire carrying my unconscious mother in his arms. Then they opened the car and put her inside. I thought she was dead for a second, but if she were, they would have just left her body here, just like what they did to Lolo Juan and his wife. My eyes started to water again as I saw the image of them lying on the floor. I was torn on going back to the farm, but I could do nothing anymore because they were already dead. I need to ask for help, and the first name that came to my mind is…

Stefan...

I started running in the middle of nowhere.

I have no idea how far I've run or where I am because all I can see is the road and the trees. I wiped my tears as my vision became blurred. I'm also starting to get tired, and my knees feel weak. Right now, I hope to see Stefan because he is the only person I know who can help me.

"HELP!"

I shouted as I ran, then I stumbled. As I fell to the ground, I couldn't stop myself from crying. I'm tired and lost; I can't even get up anymore. Suddenly I saw the light; I covered my eyes as the car's headlight was blinding me.

The car stopped right in front of me, and a man came out of the car. My eyes are blurry, and I already feel dizzy.

"Stefan"

******

I woke up in an unfamiliar place. I examined myself because I thought the hunter caught me, but I looked fine. I tried to remember the last thing that happened where I even saw Stefan coming out of the car, which I think is just a hallucination. I slowly stood up and noticed that I was still wearing my uniform, but my wounds were already treated, though it was still painful. I opened the door and realized that I was on the second floor. It's like a big cabin; there is even a chandelier in the middle. I went downstairs, and I halted when I saw a man facing the with and has turned his back on me. Before approaching him, I tried to find a weapon first because I still didn't know if he was an enemy. But before I could even move, he already turned to me, and my heart skipped upon seeing his face.

"Stefan"

I ran towards him, not minding the wounds on my knee, but before I could reach him, I almost fell, but since he is a vampire, he has fast reflexes, he caught me quickly.

"Be careful"

I was relieved to hear his voice.

"Stefan, he has my mom!! We need to save my mom!!"

I cried out, but his face remained still.

"I am not even sure if my mom was still alive because I saw them stab her !!!"

I fell silent as he hugged me. I calmed down as I felt the warmth of his embrace.

"I'm sure your mom is not yet dead.

I hope you're right, Stefan, because I won't ever forgive myself for doing nothing. I moved away and held his hand.

"Please help me, and I promise to help you too in return; just please save my mother."

I begged. I was waiting for Stefan's response, but he just stared at me and made me sit down. He excused himself to fetch water. After he left, I realized all the embarrassment I had done earlier. I even hugged him; in my defense, he hugged me first, but I still hugged him back. But I can't think of that now; I need to put my pride down because I need his help. Those who took my mother were not ordinary people and, in this situation, Stefan was the best person to ask for help. He gave me a glass of water and put a jacket around my shoulder.

"Thanks"

I drink from the glass since I feel dehydrated. I was about to say something, but I suddenly remembered my brother; what if the hunter came after him too? I immediately stood up.

"Can you take me home now; I'm worried about my brother because the hunter might go after him too."

I was suddenly nervous.

"Please, I can't lose my brother too!"

Stefan stood up as well. I know I looked desperate right now, but my image is the least of my concern.

"Wait for me here; I'll just go get something."

When we left Stefan's house, I was surprised because we were in the woods. I used the jacket that Stefan lent me because it's cold outside. As he drove, I looked at myself; my uniform had traces of dirt and blood, so I closed the jacket's zipper to hide it. I was quiet the whole trip, hoping and praying that Jensen and my mom were both okay. I'm also thinking about how I can explain to Jensen what happened to our mother.

"I'm sorry."

I blurted out, breaking the silence between us. Stefan kept his gaze on the road. It's dark outside; I think it's already past midnight.

"I'm sorry for everything I said to you, and thank you for helping me earlier."

He remained silent, so I just rested.

He probably hates me because I pushed him away a few times and now I'm here begging for his help.

"Will you help me find my mother?"

"Let's check first if your brother is safe, then you change your clothes, and let's talk about that."

He said coldly; I just nodded and stared out the window.
