"I am very disappointed with the two of you. You've not only looked down on the king, but you all thought of us as fools. You are part of this kingdom and yet, your thoughts about it, are not pure. As the king and queen of this kingdom, we have to do what is right for our people. Your ambitions to get the crown, are very clear to everyone here. To think you've forgotten we could feel your real feels, being the rulers and everything. It goes to tell, just how little you think of us," said queen Malia.
It was then, did the mother-daughter duo remember the power of the royals. Aldrin was very angry but his father was at his worst point.
"I suggest, the punishment is given by Aldrin and Lea on the day of their coronation. This will also be, a way to show everyone we trust our son and daughter to be good rulers," she suggested.
"For now, please get the guards to get them in prison and this will also give us more time to investigate more,"
"But mother, what if they escape?" asked Aldrin. He knew this was very much possible.
"They will be bound by chains and if they manage to escape, this will show us we have more traitors in this kingdom," replied Malia.
"This is a good plan, by giving this verdict. It also gives us time to see who is working together with them," said Aldrin.
"Amazing your highness, this is like killing two birds with one stone," said Brandon with enthusiasm.
"I just hope they don't see through the trap," proclaimed Mike.
King Jack was now listening attentively to these suggestions, sometimes Alpha's cannot control their anger, especially if they are degraded.
The way he felt earlier was dangerous and he nearly killed the two. He had tried to play it cool but he couldn't stand their hypocrisy. The ridicule they felt and the things they felt was just beyond his imagination.
"I also think this is a wise decision. Derrick, I am sorry but your wife and daughter have big ambitions and I cannot allow people who want to harm my children to roam around the pack grounds," said Alpha Jack.
Derrick was a simple person and he was never going to say his daughter and chosen wife were in the right. He knew of his wife's greed and he had hoped their daughter would never be the same as her. Derrick was unfortunately born without a mate and this is a curse his family had to go through. Julia knew of this, perhaps this was the reason she acted like a mad person. Anthea was a different story though.
She loved power and when she found out her mate was a human and a poor one at that, she rejected the man at first glance and never looked back.
Though Derrick didn't have an upper position in the pack he was still part of the royal pack and he was not poor. So, when she met him as a colleague and befriended him, she learnt of his mateless history and she saw a jackpot.
Derrick always knew his wife married him for money and power, but he didn't care because he at least had someone to warm his bed. He never loved her, his heart would always be empty.
People like him were longed fated to be alone and mateless, their hearts were void of any emotions. He was like an object that existed for being loyal to his king, thus was his purpose. So, at some point in life, he accepted his fate.
Many may think he's crazy and stuff, but he didn't care. He knew that he had a purpose to exist and to others, it may seem unfair but to him, it didn't matter. The point of their existence in the first place was to protect the human species and their very purpose was to ensure they are not harmed. It was never to get a mate. If fate saw him unfit, so he accepted that.
"I understand your highness," he answered with a monotone voice, void of any feelings.
"Derrick you heartless man. How can you not care about your wife and daughter?" shrieked Anthea.
"So, you advise, I ignore the King's decree?" he asked his wife coldly. "This is not what mother means father, surely you understand this?" Julia bestowed her mother in defence.
"Our being is to protect the humans and ensure their safety, it is my duty to follow the Alpha's command. How is this not understandable? How come you question it?" he asked his family with what seemed like a confused face.
In all honesty, everyone in the room was amazed by his composure and actions.
They asked themselves if they would do the same if they were in his shoes? Surely, they would plead in their families stead, but this man. He didn't even bet an eye. He seemed not to care that, they may be killed.
"Father, are you saying you would not care if I am killed?" Julia asked.
"The question is Julia, would you kill me if I were to voice my dissatisfaction with your actions, as you planned to do to your friends?" replied her father.
Julia froze. This was not what she expected from him. He was right, she would kill anyone who was standing in her way. She didn't care who they were. She would demolish all those who opposed her.
"Of... Of course not father. You are my father," exclaimed Julia with hesitation.
"Your hesitation gave you away. This is the difference between you and me. I know my purpose and I accepted it. I taught you, to be a better person but you chose to ignore that, and now you've become this animal," he stated.
Yes, being animals was their nature but if they were to be only cruel and have no humanity, the Luna would have not bestowed them the gift of changing into humans. This was part of the reason they could not give in to their animal instinct.
However, some people didn't appreciate this gifted and saw it as a milestone, this is why they had so many rouges.
People like his wife and daughter, always wanted what was never theirs. They had this mindset of being robbed of their rights, they were psychopaths.
People always said vampires are vicious and damnation but the reality is, they were just acting on their instinct. Blood was their food, and what was wrong with them wanting to eat. It was only because it meant killing the humans. However, they had no choice.
How can they go on, if they were hungry?
Derrick never blamed the vampires for finding food but he only wished they did it without killing. However, like any other being when you're not used to the feelings of hunger, you would never understand the reason they acted so. It can be any other species, they all would kill for food. This included the human race.
"I don't blame you, perhaps this is your fate. We are all born for different purposes," he said with a little smile.
"So, it is clear to me now. Your purpose was to teach us a lesson. You really can never know what the other person's desires. It taught us, to never overlook things. So, this surely taught your friends how to never trust so easily. It taught the prince to follow up on his orders and not just think everyone will respect him. It taught the king and queen to be more careful because there might be more people converting for the crown," he stated.
"So, you see. Your acts were meaningful though they were cruel, they taught us lessons," he looked at his family in their eyes when he said this.
Speechless!
This was what all of them were left with. They were out of words to say.
How can he act so?
