Star City.
The next day.
Takahashi Mito was patiently waiting for the woman to come to his store.
"Should I call her?"
Mito asked to no one.
He was sitting quietly in wait for her.
That was the day he was going to tell her everything and be freed from his nightmare. He couldn't bear to see her like this anymore.
"I will need to stop her from doing something stupid as well. I think watching over her for a few weeks will have to do."
Time passed as he waited for her with baited breaths. He was getting excited at the prospect of finally becoming free from his guilt. He could face her properly this time.
So he could properly face himself for the rest of his life.
Except she didn't come. Mito looked at the time and it was far past her usual time.
"Did something happen?"
He whispered as he dialed her number that she gave to him long ago. No one picked up. He was becoming worried as time passed.
"She must be busy. Yeah, she must be busy."
He assured himself as the mirror monsters began to gather around his store.
"Did she somehow realised something? That can't be..."
The mirror monsters were screaming and laughing as their numbers increased.
Mito dialed her number a few times and finally left a voicemail to contact him as soon as she can.
He silently waited in his store although this time he wasn't patient or calm.
Hours passed as Mito didn't get any response from her. He looked at the outside and it was already night. He couldn't wait anymore. He immediately left the store and went to search for her.
"I was away from home so I couldn't call."
"I broke my cell, sorry."
"My cellphone was stolen."
"I was a little tired and slept for a little."
"I didn't hear it the ring."
"I was.... "
"Sorry, I couldn't.... "
In his mind, he was thinking of thousands of scenarios that could happen, trying his best to not think about the thing that he feared the most.
"Come on, you have been doing your best for the past two months, don't give up now.
Please don't."
Mito went into a mad dash as he began to ask the neighborhood about her.
"Aunty, do you know of the lady that often came to ask about her daughter? Yeah her, did she came today? Do you know what happened to her."
"You... that young lad, she didn't visit us today... I don't know anything about her."
He went from one place to another while looking for her while his thoughts were in a disarray.
'You came to my store everyday for the past two months. You went and asked everyone about her everyday, please just one more day."
"Do you know the woman that always came to ask for her daughter? Can you tell me what happened to her? Where is she? I mean where does she live?"
"She didn't come... she lives on the other side."
He finally got her address from an old shopkeeper and began to ran towards the address.
'Your presence has been a nightmare for me, now that I have the courage to face you, don't disappear. Please, I beg you, just don't do anything rash.'
'I take back my words that I said to you on that day. I know I might have hurt you by saying those. I am sorry, I truly am.'
As he was running, he remembered the first time he met her and said those hurtful words to her. Now those words kept repeating in his minds, along with her nearly bereaved expression in his memory, made his heart sunk in guilt.
Soon, he stopped in front of apartment complex and asked the guard for her room number.
"I am sorry, I can't tell you that."
"It's urgent, look she gave me her number, it's not responding. It's just not responding. No one's picking up."
Mito said in a nearly teary voice. His voice unclear becoming unclear from the emotions.
"Wait a second, let me call her and ask for permission."
The guard called the apartment number but no one picked. He dialed the number a few times and now even he was feeling worried.
He knew about her and about the incident with her daughter.
"Did she pick up?!"
Mito asked in a hurry. His emotions clouding his judgement as his psyche was unable to properly think straight. The worst of the thoughts just kept popping up into his mind.
"No, let me go and check her apartment."
The guard said to Mito and nodded at his co-worker to look at Mito and the gate.
Mito looked at the back of the guard. He didn't have enough patience to wait quietly.
He immediately disappeared from the actual world, completely disregarding the fact that he could be exposing himself to the others.
His self immediately went behind the guard in the mirror world and he began to check the room of everyone in the apartment.
He finally found a room that had her name on the door. He hurriedly entered the room and was left stunned.
He exited the mirror world as his body seemed to give away. In front of him layed the her lifeless body.
Her skin was pale, her eyes sunken. Her body malnourished. She had a calm look on her face as if she was finally at rest.
Mito touched her face. It was cold, deathly pale as if drained of blood.
He could feel the empty husk that was her body. Myriads of emotions welled up in his eyes, his mouth felt dry. He wanted to apologise and yet no words came out fo his mouth for a long time.
He just weakly fell down in front of her corpse, broken and lost once again.
His hands still caressing her face, as of praying that maybe the reality in front of him was just an illusion.
And yet nothing was changing. Once again his inability caused a death.
Tears began to flow down the eyes of Mito as he mourned over her death.
....
The guard had finally reached the door of the woman and began knocking on it while shouting for her a few times.
When he didn't get any response, he informed the guard station and tried to break the door forcefully. He had realised that something wrong hd happened.
He knew the woman and he saw her coming home the previous day but he was sure that she didn't left the area that day.
After a few tries, he was able to open the door and what he saw left him horrified.
"What... what are you doing here? How did you get in here? Who are you?"
The guard's legs gave up as he saw the lifeless body of the woman laying on the sofa and the young boy that asked for he rwas currently sitting in front of her corpse while caressing her face with tears in his eyes.
The guard was sure that the young man was the same he just saw a few moments ago. He was the one who came from the door them how did the kid enter the apartment and what did he do to her?
Thoughts like this came to the mind of the guard before the fear struck him. He couldn't fathom the situation properly and ran away from their while asking his co-workers to call the cops.
Staying there with the young man felt like a stupid choice.
.....
Takahashi Mito ignored the guard as all his focus was on the woman.
"I... am... sorry."
He finally said what he wanted to say for the past two months after a long while.
"I am sorry."
"I am sorry."
"I am sorry."
"I am sorry."
"I am sorry."
"I am sorry."
"I am sorry."
"I am sorry."
"I am sorry."
"I am sorry."
"I am sorry."
"I am sorry."
He kept mumbling it before a group of armed men came and began shooting at him.
A small shark suddenly appeared in front of Mito and blocked the hail of bullets for him.
Mito was still repeating his words as he seemed to ignore everything that was happening around him.
It was just that the men who came to attack him shot mindlessly as they began shooting everything in the room along with Mito.
That everything contained the body of the woman. He helplessly saw the body of the woman that he had thousands of emotions for, got desecrated with bullets.
His mind became totally blank for a second.
That exact moment became the breaking point of his rationality as he looked at the people who were attacking him with pure hatred.
