Ch. 105 Yue

Pov.

-Kara-

Warm and cozy. Just as I thought

After slaying the beast I wore it's carcass as a trophy and used his skin to keep warm

Naturally his lioness surrendered and with them I managed to find a city completely made of ice

Assuming they were water tribe I proclaimed myself as so and they let me through along with my cats

After salting the hide to keep it from decomposition I wandered down the icy streets

It was as fascinating as I imagined

Everything was built with their water bending

I head down the alleyway and onto the Main Street where they seemed to be holding a parade

The people lined the streets as three boats passed down the middle

It was the chief and…

His daughter.

Perfect…

Now how should I go about this?

I know

I hop onto the water

With the chakra in my feet's I manage to balance myself out on the surface

I stick my hand into the water

I devour all the heat inside it and from those in the boats guarding the chief and his daughter

They freeze instantaneously, leaving the chief completely vulnerable

"You must be the Lion King I've so much heard about" he slowly stands up

Lion what?

"Amaterasu." I correct him before the silly name sticks. "but you can go ahead and call me Kara."

"What business do you have about freezing Master Pakku, Amaterasu?"

"Well, I wish that you grant me a place in your military." I slowly remove the Lions head and skin, revealing my countless scars across my body

"I have unsettled business with the Fire nation you see…" I blame the fire nation for the scars across my body— knowing it would surely sway his decision.

"Then I trust you can turn my men back"

"But of course" I raise my hand and their freezing temperature revert back to their normal self

"Hey, how is he standing on the water?!" Pakku exclaimed

In their mind it is as if nothing had ever happened. That I appeared out of nowhere

I bring my hands forth and they take me into custody

After determining that many scars and the large one on my back came from some kind of heat source they released me and granted my wishes with a place in their military

It took a month to gain the chief's full trust and another five to become a third Rank General, which is equivalent to a five star general back in my nation, Paradise.

Being an Emperor for seven hundred years I knew exactly what he wanted

After proving myself on the battlefield I began strategizing with my commanding officer. After a few battles I received that title for myself.

With many strategic attacks I regained control of four cities located in the mainland, winning myself the title of Admiral. Then after just about clearing out the arctic ocean from the fire nation I became a Third Rank which is second only to the Chief

Even though we were outnumbered in practically every battle. I found a way to come out on top

With my ranking he of course delivered his only daughter, Yue. I impregnated the girl and secured my place in their royal family for good.

Of course I could easily retreat to Paradise and squash Ozai like a bug, but where is the fun in that?

"Avatar? What the hell is an Avatar?" I ask Yue who sat up on my lap,

"H-he's master of the four elements." She huffs "My father greatly wishes that you are at his side during the ceremony."

She rolls aside

"Four elements?" I carry her over to the hot tub

I carefully lay her inside so that the soreness of the railing I just gave her will go away by tonight, hopefully

"Th-thank you" she blushes after I join her side

"It's nothing" I throw my arm around her

"S-so how does your fire work?"

"My fire?"

"Yeah," she turns to face me "the way you can manipulate heat with it, is amazing." She sets a hand on my chest

"Is it?"

She nods

"How do you do it?"

"Well." I hold my hand out

I create a normal blue little flame in the palm of my hand

She watches in astonishment as it flickers and waves around

There are two variants to this new power of mine

This one, though it emits heat, if you are to touch the actual flame it'll be as cold as ice

If you leave your hand there for too long it'll give you frostbite

The flame itself is freezing.

Now the other one

I switch the flame to my other variant

The air around us instantly drops below freezing

This flame devours every drop of heat around it

But the actual flame itself is hot, more so than any ordinary flame

"Wow…"

"You want to hold it?"

"Wh-what? Me? Hold it?"

"Yeah." I shrug

"B-but I'm not a fire bender"

"So what?"

"Oh.. o-okay" she cups her hands

I carefully set the little flame into her hand

I set my hands beneath hers, making the sure the little flame doesn't die

"Wow, it's so warm!" Her face lights up

"Yeah…"

"It's like a tiny little fire spirit." she giggles

"Spirit?"

"Yeah." She smiles "I probably shouldn't tell you this, but do you remember the pond?"

"Pond? Where our marriage took place?"

"Yeah, that one. When I was younger— back when the spiritual energy was its strongest —there used to be all kinds of spirits."

"Yeah?"

"Mhmm," she nods. "Their presence made the air freezing cold, but the moment they brushed past you it felt like the warmest day of spring."

"Hmm." I smile "spirits, huh?" I wonder if that's truly the source of this power

After she scrubbed my body and I rinsed off we got ready for the ceremony

Later that night we joined her father and the avatar who was a foolish little boy

"Yes, extremely disappointed." I sigh

"Awe, don't be. I'm sure he's plenty strong." Yue brushes her fingers through my hair

The following day I got up early to watch the boy practice with Pakku

I pat my cigar with my middle finger to get rid of the ash

"Whaaa! General, Amaterasu! The Lion King, it's really you!" That Sokka kid shouts from the ground

"Don't you ever call me that again, boy."

"I'm sorry, Sir. Yes, Sir." He bows his head

"What do you want?"

"Please, you have to take me in as your student!"

"Student? No, I'm not taking any students."

"Please. I need to learn how to fight!"

"No."

"Pleeeease! I'm traveling with the Avatar for Raavas sake!"

"I said-" before I could finish, Pakku demolishes the pillar I stood on with the Avatar kid

"Still sour, Pakku?" I pat myself down

"What? Don't be foolish, just teach the boy to fight."

"I'm not teaching anybody anything." I fix my Lion mane

"Please, you have to teach me!" Sokka gets on his knees and bows his head to the ground

"Ngk*" I grit my teeth after he grabs my foot

"Please, you have to, you have to, you have to, you have to!" He begs

"Have some pride, you fool." I kick his hand aside

"What?! Does that mean you'll teach me?!"

"Wh-what?"

"Yes! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" He bows his head over and over again

I see Yue giggle from steps

"Whatever" I sigh

I pull the lion head back, revealing my face

Sokkas jaw drops

"How old are you?!" He points at me

"Umm… twenty."

"Lier! You're my age aren't you?!"

"Why does it matter?"

"You're a third Rank General for the Northern water tribe!"

"Why are you screaming?"

Seriously he doesn't shut up.

"You need to teach me everything you know!" He charges at me.

I kick his knee the moment he was in range

He does the splits before I punch him across the face, knocking him out.

"Kngk*" I grit my teeth

Was that too hard?

"Hey!" I hear Yue behind me. "That wasn't nice, Kara." She pulls his head into her lap

"Sokka!" A girl about Ty Lee's age comes running to his aid

"I tried to warn you last night, now look what happened." She uses her water bending to heal him

"He begged me to do it" I cross my arms

"That doesn't mean you should put him to sleep." Yue brushes his hair out of his face

"It's fine, honestly. He deserved it."

"Yes, that boy has a big mouth."

"That boy?"

They look at each other before they began giggling

Right, I forget my appearance is just about their age

"You must be, Genera Amaterasu. I'm Katara." Katara holds her hand out

"Yes, Third Rank General." I shake her hand

"Sorry, Third Rank General." She giggles

"How long will you be staying, Katara?"

"As long as Aang needs to fully grasp water bending. He still needs to learn Earth and Fire bending as well."

"Fire.. is that right?"

"Yes… actually, once we heard you were a fire bender we were kinda hoping you'd be able to teach him as well"

"Teach the Avatar Fire bending?"

"Yes, if that's okay with you of course."

"I'm afraid I can not do that."

"Why not?"

"He's right, Katara. The fire he wields isn't like the one you'd see in the fire nation. The fire he generates comes from someplace else, rather than within himself." Yue says

"Why is that?"

"I'm not too sure, but it's riddled with spirits. You may quite literally say it is alive."

"His fire.. is alive?"

"Yes, it's a beautiful technique, but can become catastrophic if it is not done correctly." Yue adds

"Thus I can not teach the boy. For my technique is not of this world." I smile, knowing I sound so cool

They giggle

-Rhea-

"Mm-mm-armf" Coeus chows down on the plate I prepared for him

"How are you feeling?" I sit down across from him

"Never-m-better" he reply's just before my staff began ringing

It was Hestia again

She called me three days ago, since were inside the time chamber that means it hasn't even been an hour on the outside

"Hi mommy!"

She looked silly with the camera so close to her face

"What is it darling?"

"Ouch, Poseidon. Move your big fat butt!" She scoots him over

"What is it babe?" I ask again

"Oh, hi mom! Hisoka said his papa wants to talk to you."

"Iapetus? R-really?" I look over at Coeus who still had food in his mouth

We've been training in here for a little over a year now

I've only been gone for three days on the outside

"Okay honey, I'll be right out."

"Yay! Okay, I'll see you mommy!"

After Coeus finishes up we head back outside

"Mama!" Hestia jumps into my arms

"Ama!" Poseidon hugs my leg

"Hi uncle!"

"Hey kid." Coeus smiles

"Do you mind?" I set Hestia down

"No, no of course not." He pats Poseidon's head

"I'll be back, alright you two?"

"Okay," Hesia frowns

I use the Kaiinstant transmission technique to take myself to the gates of Iapetus' palace

The gates open and I find Iapetus sitting under a tree spaced out with a black crystal ball sitting on the table beside him

"You called for me?"

"Rhea… yes, how do you do?"

"I'm doing just fine, how about yourself?"

He nods

"Not entirely sure myself."

"Did something happen?"

"Well.."

"Is it regarding… Kara?"

"Yes, actually I've been keeping tabs on him for the past five-hundred years"

"Really? How is he?"

"Well.. at the moment he is breeding with a beautiful young lady."

"Wh-what?" I blush

That jerk..

He smiles

"I'm glad you find it amusing, pervert."

"Hehe," he giggles "the boy is gifted and truly skilled at that. I see why you miss him so much."

"Settle down, Rhea" he chuckles

"S-settle down? Why'd you call me down here?!"

"Right, it's actually about your little visit to Skypiea."

"Skypiea?"

That was so long ago

"What of it?"

"I spoke with a tainted spirit, that Noland fellow. He said Kara brought him back into the living along with a powerful cursed spirit that stained the poor Noland."

"Oh… yeah, Kara wanted to give him a second chance to speak to his friend… umm."

I forgot the native's name.

"I see. Do you happen to remember the cursed spirit's name?"

"The cursed spirit?"

What was it?

Kara said it in his sleep…

"It starts with a B and rhymes with bark, I think"

"Bark?"

"Wait not Bark. It was Valak!"

"Va.. lak?"

It almost looked like his soul left his body

"Y-yeah. Kara said he told him something, but I'm not sure if he ever told me."

"Is something the matter?"

"Valak.. is a devil."

"Devil?"

"In its purest form it takes that of a little girl. A child with lustful eyes that can conjure the most noble mortal man to do its bidding." He says with a hint of disgust in his voice "a truly wretched creature."

"Oh Lord…"

"You say you do not remember what he told Kara, is that so?"

"Y-yes, I don't believe he ever told me."

"Hmm." He thinks

"I suppose Kara used the blue flame to call forth these spirits."

"Y-yes, yes he did."

"And the flame, was it cold to the touch?"

"Yes, it froze everything around it. Is that bad?"

"Yes, it signifies that the wielder has no control over the flame, thus the spirit passes without being purified."

"Purified?"

He nods

"If it's a good spirit the flame will emit warmth but it will freeze when you touch it. If it is evil it's presence is cold but it burns whatever touches it."

I see. This technique uses spirits in place of one's flames in order to manipulate the flame itself to be either hot or cold.

"That's amazing. No wonder Kara wasn't able to master such a technique."

"Oh but he has…"

"Wh-what?"

"As of now, he figured out how to manipulate these entities to do his bidding."

"That's amazing, really?"

"Actually, it's… worrisome."
