Sweetest goodbye (2)

It was the sweetest goodbye for Martina Green. Staring at the man who almost waved his hands shattered her heart into pieces. She began to waver because she let her emotions control her system.

As she stared into his hands, she couldn't utter a single word. His cold, blank face was a stranger to her.

Martina tilted her head and released the odd feeling within her chest.

"Thank you for bringing these back to me. I don't want to waste my time getting another one." She said and quickly took the IDs from his burning hand.

The city lights looked stunning. It caught her attention as she clutched her fists and watched how busy the entire city was. She sighed in relief, yet there was strong energy, pushing her to look back.

But Martina persisted. She was the owner of her life; she won't let anyone control her even if he was the strongest man in the whole universe.

"Is it your first time?" He asked.

"First time of what?"

Blue Dobinson suddenly chuckled the moment he heard her high-pitch voice. No one had ever done it towards the alpha or they would be dead before someone avoided it.

However, Martina was the only exception. Even she told him to forget her, his heart disregarded it and continued with his aggressive plans.

"Seeing the gorgeous sight before your eyes. The city lights, the whole city, and," he paused as he took steps closer to her. "You. You are beautiful just like the city lights, Martina."

It caught her off down. He was a prank, straightforward man who wasn't afraid of anyone. His cold presence was one of his coolest characteristics that caught her attention.

Her eyes widened as the cold wind blew up her hair and no one dared to speak again.

Martina's heart stopped beating when she imagined things according to her will. She imagined a normal life and pretended that she had never crossed the line, the stunning werewolves' territory because of boredom.

If a stranger would ask her, she would have told the promising thing she'd ever experienced. That night she had lost in the middle of the woods, Martina didn't envision the possible consequences.

Boredom. Boredom was the main reason why she didn't come back home after work. But Martina never regrets even if her life was on the brink of death. For her, it was an angel disguised, most especially the newly opened bookstore she saw that day.

"You shouldn't come for me, Mister Dobinson," Martina spoke after a while of being silent.

Her knees were shaking as she knew, it would be the last time she could hear his cold voice.

"I tried not to, but everywhere I go, everywhere I look into, there was only one woman I would love to see and touch!" Blue told her everything. It was the truth he'd kept for how many days since he put the alpha's mark on a human being. "It sounds like a fool, but I'm into you."

Martina had witnessed his weaknesses. It was the best time to deceive and convince him to leave her alone. In that case, both of them would be safe.

"I am begging you, please don't bother me again! Not because I am afraid of you, but because I have already a boyfriend and we're getting married soon!"

"Don't lie to me!"

"Why would I lie to you? I don't even know a man like you existed in this world!" Martina was catching her breath when she suddenly burst into anger. If he already surrendered, there was nothing she could do to change it.

For how many years, her life was almost perfect. There was no chaos, an argument that had spread throughout the entire neighborhood.

And Martina never wanted to choose a man over her peaceful life.

"Don't make things complicated anymore," she said calmly. "Sooner or later, I'll have my own family and there's no way you can stop me from everything."

"Do you have a boyfriend, yet you don't even know how to kiss a man? Your hands were shaking when I'd touched you earlier and you're saying that you're getting married soon? Damn it!" Blue released the anger he'd kept earlier.

Unlike the stunning view, both of them were empty and longing for each other's touch. But because of pride and fear, they surrendered without giving it a try.

Blue's glinting eyes were covered with darkness. His chest tensed up and shrugged off his shoulders. He couldn't bear to look into her eyes anymore. It would hurt only him, to the point where nothing was left for himself.

If it was truly a genuine love, no matter what happened, their paths would cross again, in the right place and time.

But instead of uttering a word, Martina clutched her fists as she looked straight to him. She was wearing the hospital robe; she'd only realized when she saw her reflection from his eyes.

Martina held back her breath as she walked closer to him. If they were meant to let go of each other's hand, she wanted it to be the sweetest goodbye ever.

When she felt alone; when out of nowhere his face flashed back into her mind, the memory she would remember was beautiful and unforgettable.

Like what the elder said, when someone said goodbye to the person she loved with a smile on her lips, she would never come back to her lover's arms.

It was the true meaning of the sweetest goodbye.

"Blue," After a while, she'd earned the courage to call him by his name. Her eyes were glowing as if she saw the man she was looking for. "When you get back home, please, don't blame yourself. It's not your fault, can you promise me?"

Tears slowly fell into her scarlet cheeks. The sight of him shattered her heart into tiny pieces, but she must do the right decision, she must let go of the alpha's hands before it was too late.

"Please, promise me that you will live like you used before we met." It was too late. Her face was covered with tears that melted his heart.

He didn't want to see her this way. He'd never wished to hurt Martina, but what he noticed was the other way around. It felt like millions of needles were pierced into his heart.

"I… I do promise." He replied shortly as his voice cracked and his expression softened.

As they stood closer to each other, Blue Dobinson cupped her wet face. He then wiped off her tears as he convinced her to stop crying.

It would only cause another health problem if she would continue under the cold night.

"Shh, everything will be fine, Martina. When the sun rises, I hope I couldn't remember your name, your ensnaring face, your sweet voice… and your alluring touch. I promise I promise that this would be the last time coming here for you. May you live a happy, peaceful life too." He whispered to her ears as he listened to her heartbeat.

Deep inside, he wanted to scream and fight for her. If only he was a human being, he could have a greater chance of winning her heart. If she was getting married, he could make a deal with her boyfriend, and may the best man win.

However, things weren't the same as he wanted. Blue knew that he used to play female werewolves' hearts before. He didn't know and believe that karma would be this painful and merciless.

Before he lost his control, Blue took a deep breath and took steps away from her. Even he wanted to embrace and kiss her one last time, he had chosen not to. It would be easy to forget Martina this way.

"Let's go back to your room. It's getting colder here." He said plainly.

There was no turning back anymore. What being told couldn't change by someone. And maybe, they weren't truly meant to be under one roof.
