C20: Giving in to Insanity

Bane's SP had fallen far too low.

"Shit"

Perhaps it was but the cue for the events that were about to follow.

His vision started to become cloudy with a green haze surrounding everything as his mind became more and more chaotic.

Those slow and poison influenced movements of his opponent which he was keeping an eye on till now, were now too hard to follow.

Bane would have expected that his tired muscles would be falling down along with his tired body as well.

But to his surprise, the symptoms didn't follow the common symptoms of stamina depletion.

His muscles which were tensed up but until now avoiding every attack suddenly as if flared up. Fire was burning through his veins and his vision was as if clouded by the green soot of that same reddish fire.

Bane could find his consciousness falling back as something seemed to take over his mind and body.

"Griguek! Griguek!"

The cry of a goblin resounded in his ears.

Was it his own cry? That was strange indeed. Bane wasn't the type to grunt without reason like the other goblins.

'I can't control.'

Bane's body moved on his own. He wasn't really sure what was happening but he could feel drool on his lips wetting them along with the mud on them making them sticky.

The sniffing nose of the goblin could smell the blood of the injured bear causing it to drool even more.

His body was famished and anything would do to quench his hunger.

His body took a step towards the beast. Bane immediately panicked knowing what was going to happen.

He would be a fool if he didn't know. After all, something like this had happened to him before.

'Wait, wait no!! It's dangerous.'

Bane screamed somewhere inside his consciousness but his body never heard. It didn't even react to his scream in any manner as if Bane was mute.

It was quick to charge towards the beast. It grabbed hold of its leg and curled its own legs around it latching itself to it as if its life depended on it!

"Grigurek! Griguek"

Opening its mouth wide, it took a huge bite onto the bear's flesh covered by its fur.

His newly born teeth which appeared far less rotten than his peers sunk into the beast's flesh.

The green fur of the bear brushed against its nose causing an irritating sensation.

But nothing to compare to the satisfaction that he felt as the blood pouring out seeping into his mouth dying his teeth and face in a crimson hue.

The canines sunk even deeper while the incisors tried to pull the flesh apart from the main body.

Bane's body shook his head left and right in an attempt to tear the flesh apart in smaller pieces to swallow.

'No No No No no!!'

But unlike Bane's body that was sinking in pleasure, his mind was crying in horror.

'This is no time to eat. Much less a beast like him!'

From the very start the bear was food to the goblins. It was being hunted to be kept for the winters and to feed a large tribe.

But that didn't mean Bane could consume it now! The bear had not died yet and was not completely defenseless.

And while there were many beasts which bit their prey to oblivion but this would hardly work for a goblin's physique!

"Grrr," the bear grumbled in pain.

Perhaps because of the poison but it could roar like before anymore.

The bear lifted its leg and as it did, it carried Bane along with it.

'No, jump! Or else you are gonna die you fool.' Bane instructed his body as if it was a separate entity.

But his body had no business to listen as it was consuming flesh with upturned eyes.

Had its body attacked the bear at its neck with the same bite, the bear might have collapsed. A lot of things could have been done to prevent the current scenario. But without Bane having any control on his body, Bane couldn't do anything anymore.

*Bam*

The bear slammed its paw against the earth. And as it did so it slammed Bane along with it.

HIs body couldn't react in due time.

"Grig!"

Pleasure was suddenly followed by pain.

The shock along must have broken his back bone.

His veins in his hands and legs seemed to have burst open causing him to immediately lose any sensation in them. Under but a single attack full forced attack he had turned into a cripple.

The debris swayed around with the crash causing a painful irritation in his orifices.

But even as such unbelievable pain shot through his body that caused his nerves to ring out aloud like alarm bells, there was something that kept him alive. Perhaps it was the confidence of having been gone through greater pain but it was also...

There was something in his mouth.

A morsel in his mouth.

The pleasure of consuming flesh was easing out the pain that his body felt.

It was as if the flesh itself was some kind of anasthesia!

"Griguek"

It chewed onto the flesh.

There was nothing good about the food.

It was hard and coarse... and he had to chew so much with his small teeth.

The large layers of fat around it made it even harder to reach the sweet meet inside.

But as his teeth and saliva tore through the layers... little by little the meat inside was exposed.

It was sweet. But it wasn't the type of sweet to make it any easier to eat. The flesh was still hard and coarse in texture.

At least compared to the foods that Bane have had before. Even the worst food would be better.

But even such a food gave pleasure to his famished body.

The pleasure was enough to drive away some of the pain.

Be it the thunder of the dragon God or the pain of his mother that was transmitted to him before his birth, he had to bare all of them gritting his teeth. There was nothing that eased those pains.

But this time the meat in his mouth, gave him a form of mental strength and fortification to bear onto the pain.

Bane had already lost control of his body so he didn't know why... but his body seemed to have tears of pleasure welling in his eyes.

*Gulp*

The chewed morsel went down his food pipe with his buldging neck.

Bane could see his SP growing automatically.

Soon it got outside of the 'red zone' entering yellow. But the morsel wasn't enough to shoot it to green.

But that wasn't the only change.

Bane could see his HP falling drastically.

This was the second time after he had got the heal spell from the goblin shaman.

But this time as if 'yellow' wasn't enough, it shot to the color red.

With Bane's fleeting consciousness and pain shooting through his body, he couldn't really make out the exact numbers against the colors.

But he knew one thing...

"This is bad...."

As if to immediately show the effects of his changing status, Bane's upturned eyes refocused as he gained control over his body. Perhaps it was because of the physical shock he received or perhaps it was because his SP bar was somewhat full.

*Cough* *Cough*

Bane began splitting out the clotted blood.

Finally he could act himself!

But unfortunately the flying debris around his still blocked his vision and Bane had no idea where his friends or foe were.

But as one would have it, whatever goes up is bound to come down.

The dust too began to slowly settle as sedimentation took hold. Bane's vision was cleared soon enough.

"Grrrr"

The bear came to his vision just in front of Bane.

The bear's chest heaved up and down. It was having trouble to even breathe.

For a moment Bane had trouble believing that those stupid goblins pushed this monstrosity so far.

It was as if the bear was begging to die.

'But I can't help myself. Would it kill me?'

Bane didn't know its intentions. But Bane couldn't even move a single muscle.

They stared into each other's eyes.

From one monster to another.

A message was conveyed.

'You are satisfied?'

Perhaps the forest bear was satisfied that it had took down Bane in the end.

Till now it had chased after Bane disregarding everything else. Finally its struggle came to fruition.

'Why be happy in killing a stupid goblin, when you are of such a size? And... I am not going to die here anyway.'

Things didn't really proceed as Bane had planned.

The bear was going to die but...

If the goblins chose to toss him aside after this, there wouldn't be much he could do against them and he would die a hopeless death.

His body was beyond in tatters.

There were no spells the goblin shaman had in his disposal. There was no way he could heal.

But things could have been worse.

Thankfully he hadn't received any bleed status effect or else Bane would have been dead by now.

The goblins who were stricken with fear status after the bear going in a frenzy were slowly recovering back.

After a while they would catch up with them and finish off the bear along with the other survivors.

But Bane had something else in mind...

'I won't let you take my kill though.'

Bane moved his lips a little as he whispered under his breath.

"Limit Break."
