Having arrived at the village Caxon walked to the guards once again this time with antlers in hand and a full backpack.
"Well look who it is, the adventurer kid. What are you doing this time?"
It seemed the guard had recognized him as he had been in the village for a while now and an adventure his age was not the most common thing.
"Just turning in these antlers for a guild mission."
The guards nodded and continued their own small talk after they allowed Caxon to enter. The first thing that he did was go to Adventure guild to turn his missions.
By now he was not surprised by the environment of the adventures guild and simply stood in line to claim his rewards. Although he looked strange holding the large white antlers while standing in line he didn't have much of a choice so he just continued to wait.
Before he got to the front of the line the manager of the guild that helped him last time came up to him with a smile on his face.
"Hello once again sir, it seems like you have more business, I would be happy to help you like last time if you would follow me."
Once again, the manager led him to the back room so they could have privacy. The guild leader was aware of all missions in his guild and recognized that the antlers were from a pretty impressive mission for a rank 5 mage. The manager thought that his previous guess was right and Caxon was a promising youth so he wanted to show him favoritism in hopes it would pay off later.
"I see that you completed the White Elk mission I will go get your rewards please give me a moment."
"Wait, I have also done the mission to find the ant queen."
As he said this Caxon dumped the contents of his backpack on the table in front of him. Caxon knew that the whoever made the mission for the queen couldn't have known about the guards or how strong the queen truly was so revealing that he was able to complete the mission wouldn't be too suspicious.
The manager looked at all the contents of the table as his view on Caxon went even higher. To be able to kill an entire ant hill by himself no matter the level was impressive for someone his age.
"Then I will gather the rewards for both and be back as soon as possible."
The manager left to retrieve Caxon's money, the manager soon came back with a fairly large bag full of money.
"I have your rewards however I have a suggestion. These missions were both for class 1 beasts, if you happen to have their cores the guild will pay you if you want to hand them over. You can of course always sell them to others if you find a better price but the guild rates are rather good."
"Thank you for telling me this but I already have something in mind for the cores so I will only be taking my rewards at this time."
The manager and Caxon soon shock hands before Caxon went out to the main lobby to look at the missions one last time before he left the village for good. His attention was caught by a mission that was perfect for him.
The mission was to escort a caravan to the capital and the payment would be given at the adventure's guild branch in the capital so Caxon would not have to come back. The payment was nothing great but it was convenient to have a guide to the capital and he was planning on leaving the town anyway.
The caravan didn't leave until tomorrow morning so he left the guild hall and went to the store to finally buy his storage ring.
"Well, if it isn't my favorite normal kid. Have you brought the rest of the money?"
The same catman once again stood behind the counter, while he smiled when he saw Caxon he did not change his lazy posture as he slumped in his chair reading a book.
Caxon dumped his sack of coins on the counter as he started counting the exact amount he needed out since he had a little extra.
"Yes, it seems I have been very lucky lately."
The store keeper shook his head something told him that he did not rely on luck to get the money. The impressive part of it was how fast Caxon had gotten the money, most rank F adventures would take much longer to afford a storage ring. Although the store manager had lowered the price a small amount for him it was surprising that he was able to afford it so fast.
The catman walked up to the counter as he threw Caxon the ring and swiped some of the gold into his own storage ring.
"Just send some of your mana into the ring and you will be able to see what's inside. To take stuff out just use a mental command and it will leave the ring. You can't put living creatures into this ring but to put anything else in just connect your mana to the object and the ring and think about it going inside and it will."
Caxon caught the ring before he put it on and then tried to see what was inside. When his mana entered the ring he felt like he was inside of a square room about half the size of a car, that was bitch black and empty inside. It was strange at first to be both in the real world and feel a connection to the subspace but he quickly got used to it.
The space also reminded him of his soul in a way, he could feel that both had a maximum space the only difference was that his soul space was taken up by his necromancy bonds and the ring was taken up by physical objects.
Caxon immediately tried to his backpack and leftover gold in the ring. The items disappeared and he saw them in the ring space he also noticed that he could still interact with the items in the ring, he was able to empty out his backpack and spread out the contents so he could see everything he owned.
As Caxon was about to leave he suddenly thought of something.
"Sir do you have any masks by chance?"
The store keeper looked at Caxon before he removed a mask and threw it on the counter. The mask covered just over half of his face with a jagged diagonal pattern from the top right to the bottom left, that crossed over his nose and ended at the left edge of his mouth leaving his whole left eye uncovered and whole mouth covered. There was another diagonal line from the bottom right to the middle of his nose, above this line was colored red and the bottom was black. The line that separated the colors ran along the edge of the mask as well, and was a golden trim.
"The mask has some mana formations to keep the mask on your face unless ripped off by force or you take it off, they don't need to be charged and will function until the mask is completely destroyed."
"It looks high class how much is it?"
Caxon liked the look of the mask and thought it would be necessary at some point. Although he was nervous at first that a mask may attract more attention than not wearing one he had noticed a few mages wearing them just while spending time in the village.
Even if the mask drew attention it would only be attention for Ghost, the name he would use while adventuring. Cason would also only where the mask when using this name to avoid anyone from connecting it with his real name. Of course Caxon would have to wait until after the current caravan mission to begin using this since he had already showed himself in the village.
"Not many people come in here to buy masks and you are the largest customer I have had in a while so I will just let you have it."
"Thank you, not just for the mask but for everything, it would have been difficult to carry around as much gold as I had without being noticed, and now I won't have that problem again."
The Catman stood straight and seemed to get serious as he extended his hand out to Caxon with a smile. Caxon took it and smiled back at the shop owner, after the two stopped and he was ready to walk away he saw the shop keepers smile grow even further as his grip tightened.
"Oh, and if you ever decide to drop this silly, weak little boy act maybe we can talk as two fellow mages. If that time ever comes search me out, my name is Natsuko Takime."
Caxon did not sense any threat from Natsuko and he stood perfectly still so he simply dropped his smile, nodded his head and left.
