As Caxon was wondering if Alire was going to show up at all today the teacher arrived while telling the class to stop talking.
However instead of teaching the class he simply took out paper work and started to sign and look over papers without giving any information to the class. The students sat patiently, assuming that since he had told them to stop talking, he would say something but the time never came.
Eventually one female student worked up the courage and asked him directly.
"Excuse me sir, what will today's lesson be over?"
Using the nicest voice, she could muster the student asked what was on everyone's mind."
Alire looked up from his desk in obvious anger as he gave the student a death glare.
"Did I not tell not tell you yesterday my plan? I will wait until the tournament until you prove to me if any of you are actually worthy of teaching, until them be quite while I do my work. I am sure Alfyr told you the arena schedule, just be sure you show up to that I don't want him breathing down my neck on thinking that I just let you run around and miss class."
Caxon noticed the hate in Alire's voice when he said Alfyr's name, he also thought it as very ironic that the teacher wanted them to show up to the one helpful class so that no one would think he was doing exactly what he was currently doing.
After he said this, he simply went back to his paper work and continued to ignore his class.
"When do we get to leave the academy' are there any breaks?"
This time it was Caxon that asked this, he hadn't thought that this school would be so useless and he was thinking about how he could leave after the tournament. Plus, there were too many high-level mages on the campus which kept him from training to the best of his ability.
Once again with an even angrier face the teacher looked at the student who was bothering him.
"Yes, every weekend you are free to do whatever you want just be back to class Monday. On the last week of every month, you also get Monday and Tuesday off. Since none of you have important family meetings or events to attend, I don't understand why you get this privilege but luckily for you this academy gets the same privileges as the Royal one."
Caxon had to work hard not to laugh in the teachers face as he said this school was privileged but he was able to control himself. After Alire went back to doing his work Caxon stood up and walked out of the classroom.
The students were shocked at the bravery of this student and all stared at him as he left. After taking a few steps Caxon quickly heard footsteps behind him.
"You didn't have to follow me Will."
"Hey where are you going what if the teacher notices that you haven't come back in a while and looks for you?"
"Trust me that won't happen, if he doesn't care enough to answer questions, he won't care enough to check who is missing."
Will almost tripped when he heard Caxon's explanation but he quickly caught back up and continued his questioning.
"Well, what are you going to do instead."
"Go to the library."
The two made their way to the library as Caxon answered the endless barrage of questions.
When the two walked in the gnome librarian looked up from his own book,
"Oh, it's you. Don't forget the rules, I will be here."
Although the librarian was not rude like the other teachers it seemed as though it wasn't because Caxon was a commoner but more just because he didn't care for anything other than the massive book in front of him.
"What book are you looking for."
"Anything"
Caxon once again had to answer Will's questions as he began his search for more useful information about anything that could help him.
"Wel.."
"Listen Will I am going to start reading some of these now so I can't really answer your questions. If you want to read go find a book and read. If not, I suggest you go back to our room and practice with your sword."
Before Will could ask another question, he was cut off by Caxon who gave him suggestions on what to do. As Will looked around at the falling apart books and bookshelves on the first floor he smiled before saying he would be in their room and left.
Finally with a peaceful and quite environment Caxon could quickly flip through the pages of various books to see if any of them were of any use.
After searching for another whole day, the only book, he found was titled, "Introduction to elementals"
From this book Caxon learned that elementals were a creature born from a large source of an extremely pure element. Usually, the first elemental was made in a strange natural phenomenon where a huge amount of mana in the form of one element suddenly compressed and made a natural elemental core with a high purity.
From there elementals could actually form from the original elemental when they compressed their own mana into a small space.
The older an elemental got the more powerful it was, the problem was that the elemental cores that kept them alive also acted the same was as when a mage created one artificially like Amon had explained during the academy's trials.
The fact that mages could hunt down an elemental kill it then study its core to improve their own understanding of that element made them a valuable creature to hunt.
A mage also eventually created a mana formation to seal an elemental core so that it wouldn't decay until it was needed to be used. This made the hunting of any elemental extremely valuable even to mages without the need for that specific element.
All of this led to elementals' and especially old and powerful ones with more advanced cores, rare to find anywhere.
He also learned that golems were basically the same as elementals except they are artificially formed by a mage and the "Elemental Core" they ran on was just the summoning mage's mana core.
After another all-around disappointing day at the library Caxon returned to his room.
This trend continued for two weeks. Two days a week Caxon would go to the arena and watch Will fight as he started destroying his opponents thanks to Caxon's words. The other three days a week he would go to the library but after looking at every book on the first floor he had not found anything useful.
On the weekends Caxon would leave the academy and then the city as he went far enough away to where he could improve his mana core and elements without fear of being seen. After just two weeks of this schedule the time for Caxon's first tournament was tomorrow, and it would be a lie to say he wasn't at least a little bit excited to crush some of the students who laughed at him every time he forfeit a spar during weapons training.
