The Tournament (Part 3)

Will stood across from another student with a sword who seemed terrified to be facing against terrifying young man in front of him.

"Fighters prepare yourselves...Begin!"

As soon as the fight started Will once again showed why he would win this fight. He coated his weapon in mana as he turned it into the water element as slashed at the empty air in front of him.

At this moment a few students, Caxon included, and even a few teachers stood in shock.

As his sword slashed the air in front of him the water element created a deadly arch of water that traveled through the air at a ridiculous speed.

This was an attack that Amon had recently explained to Caxon who had been trying it ever since. The earth element wasn't compatible with this attack so Caxon had been trying it with the fire element. Even he wasn't confident in successfully carrying out the attack, and for him to create an arch as powerful as the one Will made just now, he would have to rely partially on luck.

Every teacher was also surprised that such a genius was here in the National academy since being able to do something like this showed an immense talent.

Alfyr did not even wait to see if the other judge would do his job or if the student would be able to block this as he suddenly appeared on stage and sliced through the wave with his hand destroying it in the air.

"Victory goes to William Ravilot."

At first the opposing student was upset but when he remembered the speed of the wave and he looked at William who was in perfect shape and didn't even seem fatigued he was glad the fight was over.

Caxon watched as Will calmly walked back to his seat. His view on this strange roommate went back to being very suspicious.

"Where did you learn to do that?"

"Oh... haha I saw my mom do it long ago and I have been trying to recreate it ever since?"

"You talk about your mom a lot who is she?"

"Oh well she died pretty recently so."

Caxon gave Will a pat on the back but in his head his mind was racing. He didn't sense any lies coming from Will but he had not answered his questions. He didn't know if he purposely used the death of his mother to avoid a question but if he meant to then he did it masterfully.

Caxon wanted to believe the 'young kid who is bullied finds out he is super talented' story but it was getting too convenient. It may soon be time to leave this monstrous talent, he had already received as much information from this academy as he was going to get.

He could always leave and go back to adventuring while improving his strength, even if it seemed riskier on the surface it was better than staying here and finding out Will was a participant. As he saw more of their abilities his chances of winning kept going down. If it turned out Will had a reincarnation advantage that gave him any kind of battle strength or if he had more tricks to show, then Caxon would most likely die.

While he was thinking, this round of fighting was over and only 16 students remained. It was also at this time that both headmasters had shown up and were sitting in the front of the teacher section.

After just one fight it was Caxon's turn once again. This time he fought a massive student who wielded a two-handed hammer that had previously been breaking his opponents' legs and arms before they could surrender before he eventually won.

"Fighters prepare yourselves...Begin!"

The huge body still moved relatively fast as the student charged at Caxon. This was by far the strongest opponent that he had faced so far since he wasn't able to instantly see an easy victory for himself. With this in mind he simply bought time by using his higher speed to dodge while sending unsuccessful probing attacks at his opponent.

After defending himself for a while Caxon finally saw an opportunity. The large man had just raised his hammer above his head as he prepared to strike at him. However, he dashed forward creating two small pillars under his feet to propel himself forward as he swung his sword at the burly neck of the other student.

Unprepared for the sudden increase in speed and out of position to defend with his hammer there was nothing the oversized student could do to stop him. As his sword got closer and closer to the man's neck it was suddenly stopped dead in its tracks.

Caxon narrowed his eyes at Alfyr who had appeared before him and stopped his bladed mere centimeters away from its target.

"You have some very scary eyes for someone your age did you know that. They look like the eyes of beast, focused solely on the hunt. I am glad it is not me who you are hunting."

"Why did you stop me?"

"I think you know why, just because you weren't going to kill him doesn't mean you wouldn't have been in trouble."

Caxon simply narrowed his eyes further before he sent a glare to the brutal opponent, he was looking forward to delivering some repentance on and walked away.

"Victory goes to Caxon."

As he walked away the large man wiped his lip as the blood from Caxon's sword ran down his face.

"Why didn't you stop him before he cut me?"

"Be glad I stopped him at all or else he would have taken your nose."

The large man was still recovering since he truly believed he was going to die when he saw the look on his opponents face and their sword coming for his neck, until at the last moment it changed direction straight for his face.

As Caxon walked back to his seat Will once again congratulated him before he also went to his own match soon after.

As he sat in the stands watching the fights it took all of Caxon's will power to focus his attention on the fights, that was because he could feel a kind of presence looking at him from the teacher's stands, one that he had felt before.

Finally breaking down from the need to confirm what he already knew Caxon looked to where the teachers were sitting. At first, he looked at the spot he thought it was coming from in confusion since no one was there but then a teacher walked directly in front of where he had been looking and there right behind the headmasters was Alarat Stormbreeze with a knowing smile on his face.

It seemed that he was not supposed to notice the teacher there but he had looked anyways. Just like the time when he sat in the cart as someone who supposedly had no mana core and Caxon looked at him in doubt, once again he and Alarat were the only people that knew Caxon had seen through the lie, now the only question was what would Alarat do after testing Caxon.
