Goblin kids

It has been more than fifteen days since I lost my way. I couldn't return to the base nor could I find a safe place to live. My searches were futile in the vast jungle that could take my life whenever it wanted.

With that in my mind, I tried my best to survive. The first and foremost thing I did was to concentrate my attribute improvement towards strength and dexterity.

Now my stats were as follows.

Human: Advanced(Evolving)

Strength:788

Dexterity:544

Mind: 340

Energy:[680]

System-Points: 5609

It was a lot higher than how I was before coming into the dungeon. Especially my strength.

Now I could defeat a goblin barehanded easily. I could even hunt deers without any weapons. 340 in mind also increased my range to 34 meters.

I was slowly moving towards being a C rank mutant.

But my life was not easy. In the forest, I will always be attacked by something.

At times it would just be a small spider that could kill hundred people with its venom or at times it would be carnivorous cats the size of a cow.

So, As usual, I packed my belongings and readied for a trek. A new day for me meant finding a new place to survive the night. Sticking to a place always meant more danger from predatory animals, the mana beast that roamed the jungle.

Securing my tools and backpack tightly, I bent down to pick up my new spear. This was a spear I created by using a treant branch that I picked up.

It was long and durable. Perfect for a spear.

The pointy spear tip was made just by sharpening it with the alloy knife that I brought along. If I really wanted to, I could have attached the knife at the tip.

Early mornings in a forest meant breakfast time. For me and everything in it. They were trying to eat me while I tried to eat them.

From small birds like woodpeckers to large beasts, Everything became more active.

—-----------

Hiding behind the lush tree branches, I looked down at the forest floor.

At the bottom, there were goblins.

Goblin brats giggled while collecting nuts and berries from the undergrowth. This was not the first time I had come across goblins, I knew that they had a village nearby. But, I have never seen goblin kids foraging before.

This might mean I am close to their village.

There was no GPS inside a dungeon. It might have been the reason I was lost.

But before I could disappear into the trees. I felt a predator eyeing me.

No, it was not me.

The pack of wild dogs were eyeing the goblins. The kids who were not much larger than my knee was a prime target for these dogs. With their sharp teeth, they could easily tear through the kids in seconds.

It was a morally conflicting position for me to stay in.

I could save the goblins but that jeopardized the survival of the wild dogs. And if I choose to do nothing, it would be on my conscience.

The wild dogs circled around and the goblins before jumping in to attack the goblins. The green munchkins numbered around five. At glance, you could predict that they were no match for the eight wild dogs.

Before I could even think, the largest of the dogs jumped from the bushes to bite a goblin kid. It was so fast and stealthy.

A green arm was bitten off from the goblin, but the blood was still red.

"AAAaaaa" An awfully terrifying scream came from the little goblin's mouth. There was no time even for the tear gland to secrete tears, yet the other dogs moved in a pack to hunt the goblins.

Survival of the fittest was a rule etched inside every living thing. The dogs never hesitated before going for the kill.

This even was shocking.

Without even my knowledge, I leapt down the tree.

A made a loud enough noise that it startled the hunting dogs. I ran into the centre and defended the goblins.

'Was I doing something crazy? Goblins and humans weren't exactly friends. We, humans usually kill everything that comes in our way. What made me think that I can save this goblin from danger?'

I pondered while hearing the pathetic cries from the kids.

Behind me, A tiny goblin was holding a stone knife looking warily at me, Just as warily as she looks at the wild dogs. It kinda woke me up from my thought. I don't have enough time to think anymore. I need to act.

The combat experience I had from all those days surviving in the jungle came rushing to me.

I focused my mind on the location of all the wild dogs. There were eight and I can only make one fire arrow at a time. That meant that I had to dodge as much as I can buy me enough time to attack.

A wild dog jumped from my back trying to attack my blind spot.

Too bad that I dodged it and kicked it in the head.

34 meters around me was my domain. Nothing with energy can sneak up on me. It was not strength that helped me survive the jungle, but the sensing skill that increased in potency due to the mind attribute.

[Ding… 600 units of energy absorbed.]

The system notification sounded.

There was seven more to go.

Although the dogs had the energy of about 600 units in them. They were weaker in strength than me. The system only shows me the energy inside the enemy. So, I had to make an educated guess and plan for the attack.

The next wave of attack from the dogs was different. Just like how I learned to form their movement, this was proof that they were learning from me too.

After knowing that attacking me from behind wouldn't matter. The dogs circled me trying to find an opening. They just had to bite me in the neck once and I would be dead.

Holding my wooden spear, I carefully analyzed their movement. It almost looked like the dogs were running circles around me trying to hypnotize me with their erratic movements.

The attack this time was three dogs coming at me from three directions.

Two from my sides and one from my back. The dogs were showing battle awareness of a pro. They knew that I can kill them with just a kick, so they were careful.

Too bad for them again.

Before they reach me, I jumped towards the dogs that were coming towards me from behind and skewered them with my spear. While releasing a large area of heatwave towards the side burning the hair of the dogs that attacked me.

Before they could even process what happened, I ran to the closest and killed two more wild dogs.

Now, the smell of blood permeated the surroundings.

But I couldn't stop. Stopping now means losing if more wild dogs attack me.

I focused on creating a fire arrow with the time I bought by attacking the dogs. A fire arrow took a second to make, I added more energy into it to make it more powerful before shooting it at the enemy.

Like that, I killed three more.

Now, there was only one wild dog left. The shining pairs of eyes looked at me from behind scrutinizing my every movement. The goblins were panicked by my sudden show of strength. They didn't fully believe I was here to help.

Before I could take action. The remaining dogs ran away in fright.

I could run after them. But it would be dangerous too in a forest. So, I looked at the little goblins.

The wailing goblin kid with a bitten arm was pouring tears to fill buckets. He clutched a little goblin girl next to him while the remaining looked at me warily. While shadows emerged from the undergrowth.

It didn't take long before the appearance of adult goblins. The shrill screams seem to have alerted them.

[10,000 system points are collected. System upgrade available.]

An advertisement from system came while I trying to find a reasonable way to communicate with goblins.
