Year 2020...

The Robots are Coming

NEW YORK— Robots are no longer just the realm of science-fiction. Today's robots are actually becoming more humanlike, or capable of doing many of the things humans do. In the next decades, robots are even expected to take over various manufacturing-related jobs. According to the global forecasting and quantitative analysis firm Oxford Economics, machines will displace approximately 20 million manufacturing jobs globally in the next 10 years. This means some 20 million people are likely to be jobless within the decade. Oxford Economics, however, clarified that automation will ultimately help create just as many jobs....

"Tss. Nonsense" I snorted and didn't finish the news article on the internet.

I am not a fan of science. In fact, for me, science is just a realm of fiction. It is full of speculation. Yes, some of it may have an evidence but how sure we are that the evidence itself is pure and not just one of their works? I really have no time believing those scientific things. They're just a fiction—I mean, duh? Robots that are humanlike? Tss, they're so impossible. We can only see it on TV, but not in reality.

I sighed. Instead of thinking nonsense, I better get some tea to start writing my novel. I'm currently with my fifth novel since I started writing. Usually, I am writing a mystery-thriller and such things related to mysterious stuffs. But now, what I am writing is all about science fiction. I want to share them my opinions about the existence of science. Maybe I would find some people who believes what I believed in. Some people like me.

I am currently writing the synopsis of my sci-fi story entitled "Realm of Science."

I started typing on my laptop.

Synopsis

Let's look further in the future when robots take over the lead role in humanity.

Will they be able to succeed in their mission? Or will humans be capable of protecting their worth against them?

I am writing this novel not to promote science but to show its negative sides and some of its possibilities that they are not considering. No, I am not a hater, I ain't just a fan.

I heard my phone beeped. It's a message from my editor.

The producers want to meet up with you. They are interested in your thriller novel and they want to talk about making it a movie. When are you free? This will be a big hit for sure.

I rolled my eyes. How many times do I have to tell them that I don't want them to buy my novel? They will just mess it up 'til my novel's plot is gone. They will just use the fame of my novel just to catch the eye of the viewers and to increase their ratings. Tsh! Pathetic.

I suddenly lost the urge to write.

I heave a deep sigh and stood up, getting my shoulder bag and left the house. I need to unwind.

I am currently walking on the sidewalk when my phone suddenly rang. I planned to not answer it but the caller is just really persistent. So I opened my bag and find my phone in it.

Busy finding my phone in my bag, I heard a loud engine coming up at my direction. My eyes widened in fear that it might roll into me.

I can't move my body out of shock and just closed my eyes, praying God to save me from this wreckless driver.

I waited for the car to bump me but minutes later and I still feel no pain. I slowly opened my eyes.

"Sorry! Your fault though!"

A baritone voice spoke. I felt my heart fluttered. It's beating so fast than it's normal phase.

But he didn't even took a glance at me and started the engine again and drive like he's a character in fast and furious.

"What a jerk!"

I made the taxi stopped and get into it. I told the driver to follow the white car and he did.

But minutes later, the car just vanished from my sight like a bubble. I've lost him... bullsh*t!

I realized where already far from the city but I insisted to just got off here. I walked without any direction at the seashore, feeling the cold waves caused by the sea.

I sat down the sand and didn't mind if I will get wet.

I just stared at nothing.

My phone rang again for the second time. I remember I haven't answered it awhile ago.

I abruptly answered it now but what the person said send chills and havoc in my whole self.

"The city was bombarded by the government and there is no survivors..."

My tears flowed as pain consumed me.

No... my family... my friends.
