Alex who was about to wave away Evian stopped his hand and moved his head towards the direction in which Evian was pointing. There on the same cold floor, shone a ball of silver hairs, glistening in the fervent rays of the clear white moon.
Words that were about to come out of Alex's mouth, got stuck in his throat and he gulped his saliva. Moving towards the wolf step by step, his sleep started to effervesce, his eyes that were blurry from his sweet dreams started to focus again and soon enough his brain realised what was in front of him.
Alex pointed his finger at the wolf's body and then looked at Evian up to down. "You killed this thing?" His left brow raised as he looked at Evian's pathetic condition. He was giving off a very bad smell and there was a sticky green substance covering his whole body. Even his face.
Evian shook his head left to right. "I was not the one that killed this monster. I was just lucky enough to be present at the right place at the right time. Anyway, that is not the point, please give me my compensation so I can on be my way."
Alex narrowed his eyes and then after taking a deep breath he nodded. "Ok." He said and turned around, moving inside the dimly lit treasury, he moved towards a box above which there was a key and some pages. He first picked up the pages and then started looking for something in them.
"What was your name again?" Alex asked as he started to flip through them.
Evian also moved in front of Alex, "This one is called Evian. I just got the job of beast hunting this month."
"Hmm..." Alex didn't speak any further and started looking for his name. He actually didn't ask anything about how Evian has killed the beast as it was a daily occurrence for him. Many beast hunters come to his courtyard to exchange their beast for money. He thought that Evian was one of those hunters that have got the beast hunting training before he got the hunting job.
After few seconds of searching Alex finally found Evian's name. He then picked a quill from a table left to him, dipping it in some black ink he scribbled some words that Evian couldn't see. After that, he placed the quill and the papers back to their places.
"You have completed your task for this month, now you have thirty-five more days to bring another beast like that if you want to stay in the chief manor," Alex said while he turned around and picked up the jingling keys from the box. He picked out one key and opened the wooden box.
"Here take your salary." He fetched ten copper coins from the box and directed his hand towards Evian.
Evian moved and with a slight bow accepted his salary. It was a gesture of courtesy that everyone followed while receiving money. After taking his ten copper coins, Evian turned back and pointed at the white wolf. "Do you need any help moving that thing?" He asked.
Alex smiled at his words. "Thanks for your concern. But I have servents to help me with these things. You can go away now, I will take care of this." He said and then pulled a rope that was connected to the golden bell.
Evian nodded and quickly came out of the treasury, he then instead of going towards his room, got out of the Village manor again and appeared in front of the Rhino tree. "I can't bring this cobra to my room, in case anyone sees it. I have to finish it here."
He moved towards the bottom of the giant rhino tree, and started to move the soil away with his hands. This was the place he has buried the snake at.
Picking up the red cloth from the soil he placed it on the flat ground and unwrapped the snake's body. After some moment of happiness, a frown appeared on his face. "Although I got my hands on a tire three beast, but eating it in one sitting would be impossible and If I waited for few days to eat it piece by piece every day then it may rot or some other beast my dig it out from it's smell. I wish there was some way."
He wished and looked at the snake with hopeful eyes. And just as he was thinking of a solution a glow appeared on his hand and an explosive seal formed. He felt like all the Qi from his body got sucked away by the seal. He even felt dizzy headed and almost facepalmed on the dead snake.
Taking in some deep breaths he controlled his stumbling body, after that he wiped out sweat from his forehead and then looked at his right hand. "What is this?!" A panicked expression appeared on his face as he saw a yellow coloured bubble moving out of his hand, the bubble then got out of his contact and by enlarging, completely enveloped the snake's dead body that was on the ground.
"What is happening?" Evian backed up by rolling his body back on the dirt. His eyes focused on the bubble as it lifted and floated a meter above the ground and inside it was the opaque body of the snake, which was in many pieces already.
"Boom...! Boom...! Boom...!"
Soon many blasts happened in the bubble with a light that focused on Evian's face making his eyes glimmer. With each blast, the body started to disintegrate and soon enough a loud flame, filled the whole bubble making it impossible to see what was happening inside.
Evian stood up from the ground and wanted to smash his head on the Rhino tree. "My ticket to being a level one martial artist!" Blood almost sprut out of his eyes as he saw more and more blasts happening in the bubble. He wanted to break the thing and get the snake body out of it. However, he was afraid if the blasts that came out of it hurt him too.
As he was lamenting on his bad luck, suddenly the blasts stopped in the bubble and one-fourth of the snake body dropped on the ground. Evian looked at the black tail of rolling stone cobra and quickly extended his hands to catch the tail.
Picking it up he moved as far away from the bubble as possible whilst it still being in his sight. "At least I was able to salvage this tail." He looked at the thing in his hand and a frown appeared on his forehead. "Why is there no marks of blast on this Tail? I am sure it was also sucked up by the bubble."
As more questions were about to form in his head he looked ahead and found the bubble has suddenly busted and something glowing has dropped from it. He moved towards the place with cautious steps whilst holding the snake tail against his stomach tightly.
Coming close to the place where he previously was he narrowed his eyes to focus on the glowing red object on the ground. "A pill? Is this a pill?" Evian moved his face closer to the round glowing object with a frown on his face and the closer he got more excitement filled his heart.
He has read about the pills in the tattered cultivation manual he found. He knew that they had miraculous properties and could assist martial artists to advance to the next level.
"Don't tell me that this bubble has compressed the snake's body in a pill, and it has even removed all the impurities." Evian looked around the red coloured pill, there were many black spots of impurities scattered all around.
He then placed the snake tail aside and picked up the pill. There was a glimmer in his eyes. "Can I eat this directly? I hope nothing unexpected happens when I do so." Forming that bubble has completely emptied him of his Qi.
His eyes then landed on the snake tail that was laying on the ground. "Looks like my Qi was only enough to refine three fourth part of this whole grade three beasts."
Evian picked up the tail and went up on the Rhino tree. Sitting on its peak, he placed the snake tail in the hole again and looked at the shinny pill. "Let's use it according to the cultivation manual."
The manual he found had a detailed study on how to absorb a cultivation pill. Placing it in the back of his tongue, he engulfed it in his stomach. Closing his eyes he started to focus on his Dantian.
Soon enough energy started pouring into his body and then he started moving it according to the manual throughout his meridians.
After three hours when the sun was about to rise from the horizon, Evian opened his eyes and there was an excited expression on his face. "Finally! I am a Level One Martial Artist!"
