"Hey I never got your name"
"Oh right, my name is Miya," she smiled back at me.
We got to the cafeteria and I bought her some breakfast because our school "does not have enough money". Which is total bullshit by the way. Nearly all the kids that go here are rich and their parents pay a lot for the, to come to this high school. But whatever, no one will ever speak up about it.
I paid for Miya's food and went to look for a seat so we could sit down. We end up finding a seat out to the side of the cafeteria. We sat down.
"Hey, are you sure you're okay? Do you get picked on often by them?"
"Yes and no, well I always get picked on. Im a low rank" her ears went down
"And? Just because you're a low rank doesn't give them a right to pick on you."
"It's not like i'm strong like you, i'm small and quiet all I got is my brains. I bet you're strong and smart and people look up to you and wish to be in your shoes. You don't know what it's like to be a low rank." She said with tears rolling down her face.
"I know I'm not the same rank as you but I do know what you're going through. It feels like you're not being seen or heard. I get that in my own home my father never seen me for who I am it feels like I'll never be good enough for him, but what I learned is two things fake it until you make it or smile and nod. It will be hard at first but trust just tell them what they want to hear and eventually they will leave you alone."
"Really?" she said while wiping her tears away.
"yeah really" I smiled and handed her another napkin.
"You're really nice to me, why?"
"Am I not allowed to be nice to my friends?"
She smiled, "of course you are".
The bell rings...
