Chapter six:
As soon as she touched down, Lois Lane knew something was wrong. The Metropolis dock's were usually bustling, with workers, and traveling ships.
So, why was the area deserted?
He's coming! He's coming now! Please, help me!
This time, Lois Lane could tell that the screams were close, so close that, were anyone else present, they would hear them too. She used her x ray vision again to try and locate their source.
However, there was a problem, all of the warehouses were impenetrable to her super speed vision.
Lead... She muttered. Same old Lex.
She then began to walk across the docks, instead using her super powered hearing to locate the hostage.
Can you hear me?! She called out, I'm Eradicator, and I'm here to save you, but you need to let me know where you are!
Please! Please help me!
Lois Lane heard the call, but did not recognize it as a reply to her statement. The hostage could not hear her.
She closed her eyes, and took a deep breath in. She concentrated her super hearing, trying to focus, trying to block out all outside noise.
Help me! He's almost here! Help me!
Lois Lane's eyes opened quickly. She paused for a moment, and then sped towards one of the largest warehouses. As she reached the iron doors, she delivered a serious of punches to them. Three punches later, they were nothing more than crumpled sheets on the warehouse floor.
The main hall of the warehouse had floor, walls and ceiling of stone. On the left wall, were a series of four sets of doors, also made of iron, and as Lois Lane soon found out lined with lead.
Is someone there!? Please, help me! Please!
Lois Lane turned, to the final set of doors, at the back wall. The hostage was being held captive behind them.
Please! Please, help me!
Lois Lane entered the large stony room, which was lit only by the windows circling the upper portion of the walls. Almost instantly, Lois Lane could see the huddled figure of the hostage, cowering underneath behind one of the windows, hidden from the sunlight.
It's okay! Lois Lane called, as she slowly hovered through the air towards the hostage. I'm here now, don't worry.
She landed before the hostage, and placed her hand upon his shaking shoulder.
It's alright now, sir. You're safe. Said Lois Lane.
But you're not! Said a unfamiliar voice.
Lois Lane turned to face to hostages captor. As she slowly advanced towards him, Lois Lane instantly recognized the android.
Metallo... Said Lois Lane.
Oh, I've waited so long for this! Replied Metallo.
Metallo then broke into a run and ran towards Lois Lane, who charged forward in flight. They made contact, and Lois Lane forced him with full speed towards the nearest wall.
Who is he? Yelled Lois Lane. What do you have to gain from taking him hostage?
Oh, much more than you can imagine, Eradicator.. Replied Metallo.
Just then, Metallo's chest opened, to reveal a large green, glowing rock. Lois Lane grasped, and then groaned as the kryptonite began to take affect.
What's wrong Eradicator? You don't look good! Replied Metallo.
A concentrated ray shot from the rock, sending Lois Lane hurtling back through the room. She slammed the wall hard, and Metallo sprinted towards her as she fell.
Lois Lane quickly struggled to her feet, but a punch to the stomach forced her to her knees. Metallo grabbed her by the throat, and began to throttle her as he raised her aloft. He then repeated to punch her repeatedly in the stomach, before forcing her down hard onto the concrete floor.
Lois Lane gasped for air as Metallo's grip loosened, before she could make a move, Metallo's hands clasped around her arms like shackles. The androids legs then pressed down against hers, pinning her to the ground. With the kryptonite continuing to weaken her, Lois Lane found herself unable to move, and suffering intense agony.
She's secure! Said Metallo.
Excellent... Replied Scarecrow.
Lois Lane looked upwards as she heard the footsteps approach. She gasped as she saw the masked man stand over her.
Oh my! I can't even imagine what pain you must going through right now, Eradicator. Replied Scarecrow.
Scarecrow knelt down by beside Lois Lane, who stared at him in shock as his masked face approached hers.
If you think this is unbearable, though, just wait until I'm through with you... Said Scarecrow.
