Yes, Ma’am

I groan again, trying to block out the memory of the dream, still fresh in my mind, as I roll out of bed. I didn't really want to keep David waiting any longer, so I hurried through an abbreviated version of my morning routine. I sprayed in some dry shampoo my sister and I hide in the bathroom from my mother and used a wet rag to wash off my face and then a bit of sweat clinging to my under arms. Finally, I applied a generous amount of deodorant and hoped my mother wouldn't notice I didn't shower this morning.

As I rush downstairs, I hear David's deep alpha voice coming from the sunroom. "And then his mate told him, 'You don't need pants; you're a rogue!'" I turn the corner to see the familiar sight of my family plus David laughing around the breakfast table.

My father and mother sit close together picking off each other's plates like they're still teenagers. My sister is smiling brightly at David, still giggling from whatever great joke he just finished. Even my older brother and sister-in-law are there, visiting the pack for another week before heading back to college for the start of fall term. It's an idyllic picture of the perfect family, and David, despite his differences, fits right in.

At 6'4", he's taller than the rest of the family and darker in coloration, with dark wavy hair and obsidian eyes. Where my family is lean and slender, he is thick and buff. Definitely a dominant werewolf among submissives, but he's more than that. He's an alpha and the first-born son of the Alpha. However, he doesn't domineer or lord his position as the future leader of our pack over us. Instead he is perfectly comfortable and at ease amongst his life-long friends and pack members. What makes him fit with my family? His infectious smile which is mirrored on the faces of my entire family.

He breathes in deeply and his smile broadens to ear-splitting as his gaze turns to me. He looks at me with such adoration that I feel guilty for the unfaithful thoughts I had this morning. I walk over to him as he reaches out and catches me by the waist. He pulls me into his lap and buries his nose into my neck, inhaling my after-heat pheromones deeply. "You smell so good this morning, love."

I chuckle nervously as I peek up at my mother. Sure enough, she is glaring at me, and I know she knows I didn't take a shower. If looks could kill. I try to ignore her as I focus on my boyfriend. "Sorry to keep you waiting. I didn't hear my alarm go off." I hope this excuse placates my mother for the moment.

Ellie snickers. "Yeah, he was deep under. I practically had to jump on him to get him to wake up." She grins playfully and I know I haven't heard the end of her teasing today.

"It's ok. I haven't been here long," David says sweetly. "And besides, I was enjoying chatting with Nico. Got to get my fill of my favorite future brother-in-law before he heads back to college!"

"Again, Davy, I'm your only future brother-in-law," Nico replies evenly.

"Still can't believe you and Daisy are both thinking of doing medical school! Don't get me wrong, you're both hella smart enough and Dr. Redy is approaching the age where I'm not sure he can see the babies he is supposed to be catching. Having two pack doctors after he retires sounds amazing, but I was hoping for some cute nieces and nephews soon!" He pokes Nico in the stomach playfully and the older man swats him away, refusing to rise to David's teasing.

"Sorry. You're just going to have to wait. Daisy and I don't want to even think about starting a family until after residency," Nico says seriously.

But Daisy is grinning as she says, "Honestly, I think it's more likely you and Cameron will be giving us the nieces and nephews first than the other way around."

David squeezes me tightly at this. "You've figured me out! I can't wait to for us to have pups of our own. Don't you think Cammy is gonna look so cute with his tummy rounded out, pregnant with my pups." I try to suppress a flitch as he plants a kiss on my neck where his mark will be in only a week. With his face buried in my neck, he whispers in my ear seductively, "And I can't wait to fill you up with my seed." I shiver in his grasp, but he must misinterpret my response, because I can feel him smirking against my skin. "Let me get you some food," he says in a normal volume, before plating me up a pancake with mixed berries and syrup.

"Cammy, sweetie," Mom starts carefully as I begin to dig into the food. "It is important that you schedule yourself enough time in the morning to shower and do proper morning care. Set your alarm earlier tomorrow, please."

"Yes ma'am," I mumble as I slip off David's lap into a seat next to him, slowly chewing the too sweet breakfast.

"And couldn't you have worn something a little bit more…" She struggles to find the right word or maybe she is just trying to find a synonym for girly that doesn't directly refer to girls. "Appropriate to your station," she finally settles on, "for your first day of school." I actually think I look hot as fuck in my light gray button down with my charcoal blazer, black slim-fit jeans, and Converse, but I don't think Mom would be happy unless I wore a dress to school. Ok, that's a bit unfair. She is probably just upset at my lack of color diversity, but I know Ellie would agree I look good! After all, she helped me pick out this outfit when we bought it together.

"Sorry, Mom." I look down, trying to appear small in the hopes she will let the matter drop.

"Give him a break, my dear," my father suddenly sighs. "He looks fine and, besides, Davy said likes his natural musk. Boys don't need to shower every day." I smile weakly at my father's attempt to defend me, but my mother isn't having any of it.

She looks at him like a wounded deer. "How could you say that? He is the future Luna of this pack! He needs to be presentable at all times!" Her voice grows in intensity without necessarily yelling, because "omegas never yell". It isn't proper. "I love you, Will. I really do, but sometimes you can be so... so... socially inept!" And with that she picks up her plate and leaves the table, storming back into the kitchen to "stress clean".

"Love you too," my father mumbles, before giving me a half-hearted smile.
