An everyday day

The question of the astounding biological properties of his new body could wait. Zora had more pressing matters, considering the void in the middle of his body posed no threat nor disfunction in his physiology.

No, the more interesting thing was his feelings about the nature of magic. It was quite volatile, but easy to direct too. Magical energies were way easier to manipulate in this world than in others. But that must mean that almost anyone should be able to use it, no?

Zora had no idea if that is true, at least his family members didn't seem to use magic, or magical appliances even. Thus he had no way to know the truth. At least not right away.

Every day it was getting easier and easier to move the magical energy, that is dubbed 'mana' in most worlds, in his body. Soon he was so confident he felt like he could start using mana outside of his body. First he tried to move his sheets a bit, something that was the closest to him physically, and only when he was alone.

With a bit of practice he was able to exude energy out of his body and could move the sheets and clothes he was wrapped up in. Though with only this much he exhausted himself completely and blacked out.

He woke up to his parent running around above him, clearly agitated, their facial expressions bordering terror. They only came to a halt when Zora gave them a small giggle. They seemingly got very scared by his inactive status, something he could understand. It was a mistake on his part.

For the rest of the day he focused only on them, he craved their attention like any other baby would, something the parents could only hope to be temporary.

In the next few months Zora tried his best to pick up the language of the new world, together with the small customs and oddities that were practiced, things he will be required to know about while growing up.

A usual day for Zora would start by waking up next to his parents, as he slept in a crib in the master bedroom. He always waited some time before waking his parents, just as long as he was willing to bear the hunger. The he would get fed, then taken to the main room where everyone may have breakfast, then usually Lilly plays some with him. Next he is passed down to his sister, whom being the oldest, must watch for both of his younger brothers while Lilly and Ezakiel work on something.

Sometimes neighbours show up with their kids to pool them, so less people are needed to care for many young children. This might seem irresponsible, and it kinda was, but all the kids were well off with each other, barely any accident happened. From time to time accidents happen though, and Zora had to use some 'force magic', as he likes to call it, to avoid serious injuries.

When the adults finish the workday they get back inside to have fun with the children, or teach them something useful, like a trade or some everyday skills. Tilly will be required to know how to sew, while Drac was still too young for anything, but he will have to learn to butcher animals at least at a basic level, and much more. With most of the day being done, everyone went to their own rooms to sleep in. Actually the family must be quite well-off to have 3 bedrooms, while they also had a barn for the animals and a separate shed to store food and another for the tools.

Every night, while the others slept Zora practiced both inner and outer mana manipulation. His control was getting better and better, but his magical capacity always remained the same. He noticed though, that instead of pushing what little mana was inside him, if he used a fraction of that same mana to guide the natural mana around him, it was way easier to finish the same tasks.

But the seemingly tiny mana capacity concerned him. In his previous lives every living cell of an intelligent organism was able to contain some amount of mana, meaning the internal capacities of mages could range from huge to exorbitant, but here, that wasn't the case.

Anyway, the frequent emission of all his internal mana exhausted him greatly, and replenishing it took a long time, and a ton of nutrition too.

This meant, that he ate food like a black hole. Usually this wasn't a huge problem, his parents could provide for him, but quite a few times Drac fell ill, thus he needed more food to fight the disease, meaning less food for the glutton.

For those time periods Zora would have to stop training unless he wanted to starve. And starvation was no joke to him. He had his fair share of that from before.

Out of sheer boredom he started experimenting with sending tendrils of mana into his family's body. At first he used the most minimal amounts, due to his fears of foreign mana being harmful to their bodies. This being a really risky operation he was extremely careful, but even after many days of exposure to his mana, his parents, showed no signs of 'mana poisoning'.

Thus he kept increasing the emission levels and tried to do the same as he does with his own body. He started feeling through their bodies with his mana very very slowly.

First, he had to do this at a distance, which complicated things, also he wanted to stay undetected, so the progression was painfully slow.

In the end, after a whole month of exploration he only noticed a few bone or joint deformation, or a few batches of mostly inactive viruses and bacteria. These things he didn't dare fix, because even if he knew how to treat them properly, he had no idea how the changes would've affected their bodies. But the more interesting thing he found was the same void in the middle of their bodies that he found in himself. And this got him thinking.
