Fixing Life

Heavenly Partners is a Chinese Gacha Game about Cultivators. The game is about a Male MC who will face the heavens and take as many brides as he wanted.

The player is using a faceless MC, so they can self-insert themselves to the game and think that they are the one interacting with the beauties.

The plot of the game is all over the place, and it can be said that it really didn't have a consistent timeline. Most of the plot is disconnected, and is always centered about a female character.

The player can't even use the MC. The characters that they can use on fights are the beauties that will become a part of the MC's harem.

This game is an incremental RPG, where they just look at the character beating up random monsters and clicking some prompts about events that the girls or the MC have encountered to acquire more points. The points can be used to upgrade the characters, which will further boost the increase of numbers.

It have some sections where they can fight some boss or event bosses, but the basics of the game are just looking at girls beating up someone and upgrading them endlessly. They also collect more girls through Gacha and read their plot points through story mode.

He have picked it at random, not knowing what to do with it. He just felt like trying it and have no knowledge what his system can really do.

After he got that prompt, a new option appears on his base menu.

He tries to open it mentally and is surprised that it responded. Another panel opens in his vision, showing the game logo before it finally starts up.

The familiar loading screen is displayed for a moment before it changes into the game's home screen. He is excited to start a game within his mind when he notices something.

"Wait. Why is there no tutorial?"

The game was supposed to start with a tutorial, with him fighting some great evil with his five wives and being beaten by default. Though this one goes straight to the home menu, without the supposed image of his character there to greet the player.

He browses through the screen and another things that are missing. The story mode is gone, and also the settings menu. Global chat, or even friend request is missing, and even the Event menu is not there.

This is a surprise. The game won't function if it didn't have those missing contents.

"Right... that doesn't matter. I have no time to be playing this time!" He chided himself before mentally closing the game.

He sighs before putting his focus back on his own room.

He didn't know what kind of supernatural is at work that he can suddenly see a panel full of his games, but he decided to stop thinking about that for now. It won't even help him on getting his life back on track.

"Okay. First I have to sell all of this to the nearby store. It seems like it's allowed on the rental shop just on the side of this residence."

"Then, I'll have to clean all of this mess. I won't have a peace of mind having all these trashes scattered across the place I'm going to live in right now."

It is overwhelming, but he decided to take responsibility for it. It might be the fault of the original owner of this body, but right now he IS the one using this body now.

And he didn't want to die in starvation, so he decided to be quick about this for now.

He heard the grumble of his stomach, and he stinks to high heaven. Both the pain of his stomach, and the irritating and disgusting smell makes him prioritize cleaning himself and selling something.

He didn't have the money so he needs to it to acquire some food.

~~o~~

"This stupid motherfucker is a total loser." He mutters, his evaluation on the original owner of this body becoming much lower.

He is currently wearing slacks, a simple buttoned polo, and a beanie. All of it looks so old and lame, and smells so stale. It might be because he just found it on the pile of clothes beneath the stacks of folded rags within the clothes rack.

It is the only decent clothes he can find on the room. Most of the clothes were too dirty, have tears and holes on it, or are just too short for him.

After he was done cleaning himself, he have just discovered how much hard it is to move with this body. This body didn't have energy at all, and it seems like the original owner of this body didn't shave for years now.

It's a good thing that there is still a spare shave on the bathroom and some bathing things like shampoo and body soap so he can clean himself. This took him a long time, trying to take off whatever filth in his body and shaving whatever he needs to shave.

He can't do his own hair, so he is planning to get a new haircut after he is a bit stable on finances.

For now, he have to be satisfied with his long hair. It took him three handfuls of shampoos to take off the roughness in it.

He finds a simple rubber which he uses to tie his hair. He knows this is too cringe, but it is a lot better than letting it flow like an idiot.

He goes out of the place with the two worn out sandals that he have. In his hands are some books that he can sell for a hefty sum, he hopes.

The rental shop is only a few corners, so he manages to reach there after a few walks. Getting inside, he saw some people within looking through books or music CDs. Seeing that the counter is free, he walks straight into it.

"Hey. Can I sell all of these?" He said, taking the attention of the lady behind it.

The counter lady gasps when she takes notice of his appearance. Her eyes widened in surprise.

"Wow... is that you, Klein?"

He stares at the lady for a bit, trying to recall who she is. He finds a bit of a recollection to her from the original owner's memory. It seems like this one is a long time acquaintance since middle school.

"Right.... Nikki, isn't it?"

"Yes!"

"I didn't thought I'll find you here. What possesses you to leave your room now?"

He scratches the back of his head. "Actually, I have no money. I decided to let go of these things, seeing that it didn't serve any purpose in my life anymore."

She gasps once again. "Wow, that's a surprise!"

"I remember you saying that those are your treasures and is unwilling to let go of it. Your just going to sell it like that?"

He smiles wryly. "Yeah. I thought it's just eating up space in my room, and I need food to eat too so there is that." He said with a shrug.

"Okay. I'll take it off of your hands."

She takes the bundle of books in his hands and take a look at the computer besides the cashier area. After checking out something, a receipt was made and she gave it to him.

"That'll be 80$ for all of that."

"Alright, thanks." He took the slips of bills that she handed to him. He heard her gasps in surprise, making him look at her with a raised eyebrow.

"Ah... sorry. I just thought your going to throw a tantrum seeing how low I bought it off of you."

He waves his hand in dismissal. "Don't worry about it. This books are old. I'm even surprised they will sell that much.... what?" He felt a bit confused seeing her staring at him in surprise.

".... Nothing. It's just a shock, seeing you suddenly becoming so thoughtful."

He can only let out a small shy chuckle, not knowing how to explain it. Just having these conversations, he is learning how much of a loser is the original owner of this body.

'We even have the same name. How embarrassing!' He mentally clicked his tongue.

He left the rental shop after chatting for a bit with Nikki. His next steps going to the local market nearby.

~~o~~

It took him until afternoon when he got back to his home. His breathing ragged at the long trek while carrying his groceries.

"Goddamn.... this body is too weak... huff huff..."

It's just two plastic bags of food but he felt so tired just walking on the street. He even take the time to commute on the best, even when the local market is just 200 meters in distance.

He can't help but mentally curse at the original owner of this body again. He really hates how he just destroys his life just because of his obsessions.

'Even I know when to draw the line!' He thought with a grit of his teeth.

He took a deep breathe before releasing it with a sigh. He knows nothing will change even if he complains all day about the original owner of his current body.

"I am Klein Vernil of this world now. I have to live with it... even take the burden of his past..." He mutters, feeling overwhelmed at all the things it relates to.

He stood up, and goes straight to the refrigerator. When he opens it, he saw nothing other than some insects crawling on it. It might because it hasn't been used for a long time.

"Shit!"

With all of the mess within this house, he have to take care of it first before even starting to arrange his groceries.

"Well, I have already eaten a burger on some fast food restaurant near the market, so I think I have enough strength to take care of this."

With that in his mind, he decided to start cleaning right now. He knows it will be night soon, but he didn't care. He'll finish this even if he lost some sleep because of this!
