06 - Putting tactics into practice

Arthur knew that the task he had given the disciples was something very difficult, mainly because he knew that even in this world, where people were trained from childhood to become warriors, they still fight Low Mortal Core monsters while you are a Low Mortal Core is extremely difficult.

The default rule for this world was that as long as a monster and a human with the same Mana Core level fight, 8 out of 10 battles the monsters will win.

So he knew it was nearly impossible for players to complete the quest on their own, but that was his plan from the beginning.

First he would let them fight the monsters and feel the despair of defeat, then he would teach them the skills he knew verbally, but as the system had a way of transmitting those skills by a simpler method it made his plan a lot easier. .

And after the players learned the skills, Arthur would personally go with them to help the players kill enough monsters that they could be accepted, thus showing the sect Master's magnificence.

The plan was actually pretty good, in case Arthur was judging normal people, but he had forgotten that at this point he was dealing with players from Earth, who have the most creative minds for trying to find bugs in games.

Unaware that his plan would be thwarted, Arthur would talk to System and change some things around the library.

The structure of the place was still decaying, but for now it would be enough to serve the purpose of it.

With a satisfied smile on his face, Arthur observed the changes in the library with great satisfaction.

Currently in the library there were 5 ATMs, each ATM had a library of skills that the player could choose to learn. To make this more interesting for players, Arthur decided that players could use Contribution Points to trade skills in these ATMs. Of course, the first skill would be free.

Contribution points would be the points players would receive for killing monsters, i.e. the points Arthur would receive from the System. In that it would be up to the player to decide to use these points to get stronger and improve their own Mana Core, or use these points in the library for skills.

Each option had its pros and cons, which were pretty obvious. The stronger the player, the more power he could wield and kill more monsters, but when he died his Mana Core would revert back to the Low Mortal Core. Abilities, on the other hand, would be permanent, but would come at a high price.

When the player chose the skill he wanted at the ATM, Contribution Points would automatically be deducted from the player's account and a scroll would be delivered.

As soon as the player opened the scroll, the skill information would pop into his mind and he would instinctively know how to use the basics of the skill. Of course, using the skill effectively would take practice.

Arthur was so intent on the library that he was startled by a notification.

[Ding, a Low Mortal Core monster was killed by a disciple, the user received 2 Contribution Points.]

"What?! They managed to kill a monster?! How is that possible?" Arthur was shocked and walked out of the library in the direction the players had gone to find out what was going on.

As he passed the sect square, where the Temple of Resurrection was located, Arthur saw 12 players chatting excitedly.

"Did they make it?" One player said while looking at the Temple of Resurrection hoping no one else would show up.

"I don't know, but that might have been possible." Another player said in a thoughtful way.

"It's pretty scary to deal with goblins, but after dying once to them I feel calmer." Another player said as he sat on the floor to calm down, after all, this was his first 'death' experience.

"Yes, the third time I died I didn't even care about those little monsters' claws anymore." One player laughed when he saw how shaken up that player was by 'dying' the first time.

'Has this player died three times? No, maybe he even died more times!' Arthur thought and was shocked.

'Shouldn't these players be trying to find a useful strategy to kill the monsters with the fewest kills? Why are they talking in such a carefree way about dying, don't they mind missing out on the opportunity to play?'

Arthur looked at the disciples and continued walking towards the forest of monsters.

On the way he saw some marks of blood and was able to understand a little of the battle that had taken place.

After some searching Arthur found a large group and was shocked once again by what he saw.

---

Mongold was commanding this group of players to get as much information as possible from the goblins.

"Quickly, test his resistance to blunt attacks!" He yelled to a group of players who were carrying some rocks to hit the goblins, as they didn't have hammers.

"Test his resistance to slashing attacks!" He yelled at players to use sharp stones and try to cut through the monsters and see if that could pierce the goblins' skin.

"Great, now test his regenerative ability!"

The players made a big cut and watched the wound healing speed and were happy to see that it wasn't fast.

"That's good! Now just test his intelligence the way we planned!"

Players were a little shy about it, after all, this game was so realistic that it was a little weird to do something like that to yourself, but they still decided to do it.

One player threw the gun away and stood with open arms.

Another player did the same thing as the previous one but turned his back.

And finally the last player took off his shirt and stood with open arms looking at the goblins.

The goblins were a little worried when they saw the humans were doing strange things and watched warily.

But after seeing that the humans were doing nonsense things they attacked the humans and killed the shirtless player, then they attacked the one with their back turned and finally the unarmed player.

Mongold was surprised by the artificial intelligence of these goblins but he was not dismayed, on the contrary, he was more excited than ever.

"I have an idea!"

The players were surprised by what Mongold said, but were even more excited after hearing this and huddled close to Mongold, ignoring the goblins who watched them warily as they dragged the corpses of the other humans.

Seeing how these humans were acting, the goblins were a little scared, as they could see that these humans didn't care one bit for their dead comrades, which made it seem like they were too selfish and not acting the right way to these monsters, after all, even monsters know that they must avenge their dead companions or at least take that companion's corpse before returning to the tribe.

But unlike the goblins thought, the players ignored the corpses because they knew those players should already be in Seita Square, so those corpses should only be considered as puppets by the players.

"The goblins are more perceptive than I imagined, but that won't stop us! If we try to act all together the amount of monsters we will have to encounter will be too large for everyone, so I suggest we split into groups of 3 to 9 people and we started hunting the goblins to test the tactic I thought." Mongold explained patiently.

Upon hearing Mongold's tactic, the players were shocked, even Arthur was lost for a while after hearing that player's tactic, but after thinking deeply about it, he was surprised to find that the success rate of this tactic is more than 50%, a very high value for players who will be facing Low Mortal Core monsters and some Mid Mortal Core monsters.

'Is this really going to work?' Arthur asked himself shocked.

Taking advantage of the superior Mana Core he had, Arthur began following Mongold's group from afar without them noticing him to see if it would actually work.

Mongold has reunited with 2 other players and they run towards the forest. After the tests they ran, players picked up sharp stones to use as weapons.

If anyone saw how these players were acting, they might even think that these people were from some Indian tribe that had no contact with iron weapons.

But when they saw a group of 3 Low Mortal Core goblins, those players didn't despair. The number of goblins was more than they expected to find, but it made these players excited to give it a try.

Without thinking twice, these three players took off their shirts and hid the sharp stones under their pants behind their backs. If they moved too abruptly like that, the chances of getting cut were pretty high, but that was their tactic.

The goblins saw these unarmed humans and squealed happily as they ran laughing towards the humans.

By testing the players, they found that the goblins really were smarter than they thought, but their intelligence was simple and limited.

The players made scared expressions and began to walk slowly backwards, pretending to be very scared of the goblins.

When the monsters saw this, they started to laugh even harder and approached the humans slowly too, as if a tiger was just playing with its prey.

This went on for 30 seconds, until the players saw that the goblins guard was too low, and slowly they approached the goblins until they picked up the sharp stones and hit the goblins head with it.

The goblins didn't expect such a quick reaction from these humans and counterattacked as quickly as possible, but their big head was a very easy target to hit, and with very thin skin. As soon as the stones cut their heads off, the goblins began to scream in pain and fell to the ground. Their claws only lightly scratched the players before turning back to their head and starting to scream in despair.

The players didn't just watch this, they took the opportunity to keep hitting the goblins with the stones.

In a minute the goblins' screams stopped and they were dead. Each player had received 1 Merit Point.

Arthur had decided with the System that every monster that players killed, of the 2 Merit Points Arthur would receive, he would get 1 Point and would give 1 Point to the player.

So the players' development would be fast, but Arthur's would be even faster!

But now that the players' crazy tactics kicked in, instead of going out to look for other goblins, the players took the goblins' blue blood and rubbed it into their own bodies, even using the stones to make small cuts and look like they were injured. .

With this, players would act as if they were exhausted and badly injured from the battle to entice other goblins to fight them.

Arthur knew that this technique had a problem, the goblins had a very keen sense of smell and by smelling the blood of their species, a larger group of goblins would come each time, making it increasingly difficult for players to survive.

'It's a risky tactic for common people, but for these players maybe it's really possible!' Arthur thought excitedly as he watched these players try. 'Since they don't care about dying to the goblins, maybe today is a day of goblin slaughter by these immortal players.'
