CHAPTER 3 - Coming home

The last bus to my city is half past eight at night. Because of that, I'm the only one present in it.

The trip should take about an hour, I should get home around ten at night.

I'll get off at the bus station, until I find my own house it should take some time.

On the way back, the bus stopped only once. At that stop, a strange man got on the bus.

He wore a cap, a shabby jacket, jeans and a boot. Plus, he had a bad beard.

He had every other seat available, but this guy sat next to me. I felt a little uncomfortable with his presence.

I activated my spider sense and kept an eye on his every move. Suddenly he reached inside his jacket.

I thought he was going to pull a gun and threaten me. Maybe he wanted to rob me.

It would be perfect, just me and him on the bus on a quiet road.

Because of that, I prepared to knock out the man next to me.

An open-handed blow to the neck and then a punch to the jaw. That was my strategy to defend myself.

Slowly, he began to take something out of his jacket. My tension increased, I am a human being of flesh and blood, a weapon would kill me easily.

As soon as he pulled the object, I moved my hand. I stopped halfway when I heard a cat noise.

'Nyaa'

"Look at this kitten how cute he is." The man said.

"What!?"

In front of my eyes was the man's cell phone. On the screen was a video of a kitten falling.

"It's really cute, isn't it?"

The man's voice showed excitement when talking about the video, he had a happy smile.

My God, I know this kind of people. Cat fanatics, they are scary when it comes to these animals, but show no real threats.

I bet he has several cats at home.

I sighed and let my guard down. The only thing this man can threaten is my patience.

I had to put up with this guy watching the cat video the entire way.

Finally, I arrived at the bus station. Fortunately, there was a city map here. I knew the street name of my father's house, I just didn't know how to get there.

I looked at the map and located the street. It wasn't far from the bus station, I could walk.

I started walking. I noticed that the streets in this city are very busy. Most were college teenagers drinking and smoking.

I cannot understand what these young university students think. Today is Sunday, what's the use of getting drunk today when there's class tomorrow.

My walk took about twenty-five minutes. At ten past ten at night, I arrived in front of my father's house.

It was a nice neighborhood, looking around I could see my childhood friends' house.

Irina's house was next to mine. Jay and Ana's across the street and a little further on.

No wonder they're childhood friends, they've always been neighbors.

My house was neither fancy nor modest. It was a normal two-story house.

I took the key out of my pocket and unlocked the door. I entered the house, the lights were all off. Probably everyone was already asleep.

I went upstairs to my room without making a sound. Upon entering I turned on the light, unlike my grandmother's room, this one was much fuller.

It had a bed, a desk, a wardrobe, a bookcase with several books ranging from manga to school books, and a television.

It was a nice room, I was even surprised by the amount of stuff it had.

I went to the desk and opened one of the drawers, inside I found a cell phone.

I pressed the power button. I took off my clothes while the cell phone turned on. I like to sleep naked.

As soon as the cell phone turned on, I accessed the contact list. In the ranking of friends were Jay, Ana and Irina.

In Irina's contact there were several hearts. I sighed.

"Fucking cattle."

There were no other contacts besides these three.

Suddenly I remembered a memory that had shaken old Rick.

It was when old Rick was in his third year of high school.

It was when old Rick was in his third year of high school.

The bullying with him had only gotten worse and Jay had witnessed it all.

One day, Rick asked why Jay wasn't helping him. Jay was the most popular guy in school, a lot of people would listen to his request.

Rick's thinking was simple, since you're my friend, you can help me. The answer he got shook old Rick's heart.

"I never considered you my friend. You're just a guy who lives next door to my house, you're just my father's friend's son. I even felt sorry for your father, I would never want to have a son like that."

That was Jay's speech.

I started to feel the same pain in my chest that the old Rick felt at that moment.

"Damn it, it must be nice to humiliate others like that."

Even though I'm a mobster, I always treated everyone with respect. It doesn't matter if it's an enemy or a friend.

"That son of a bitch is going to pay for this."

I set the alarm and went to sleep. Tomorrow is the first day of school, I'm looking forward to it.

I had a nice night's sleep. My good sleep wasn't interrupted by the alarm clock, but by an annoying voice outside the door.

"Hey, Wake up loser."

Alice started screaming and banging on the door outside the room.

I got up and sat on the edge of the bed. Suddenly, she opened the door and entered.

"I told you... WHO ARE YOU? MOTHER THERE IS A STRANGER IN THE HOUSE."

Alice fled. I sighed, it was an extremely overreaction.

I ignored it and started dressing for school. I had to get my old clothes, the newest ones were too baggy.

The uniform consisted of a white dress shirt, a blue blazer with the school symbol, and a tie.

Only high quality schools have this type of uniform.

Once again, my bedroom door opened. This time it was my father and stepmother who entered.

"Hey hey you wanna hit me with that stick?" I asked.

My dad was holding a bat in his hands. He was prepared to smack the club over my head, but when he heard my speech the stump was dropped from his hand.

"Rick?" My dad said incredulously.

"Yes?"

My father's face was in shock. The same could be said for my stepmother's face.

I looked at Alice, her reaction was the best. Her eyes were wide and her mouth was wide open.

"What happened to you?" My father asked me.

"I did some exercise on vacation. And I cut my hair too." I said.

Max, which is my father's name, smiled the most radiant smile in the world.

"That's my boy. It's good to see you in such good shape. Isn't it?"

Max asked Aline, my stepmother. I think she wanted to combine the names by calling her daughter Alice.

"That's great." Said Aline.

Suddenly the doorbell rang.

"I think your friends have arrived." Said Aline.

I looked at the clock, it was twenty minutes before class started.

"Unfortunately, there won't be enough time for breakfast with the family. Eat on the way." My father said.

I nodded in agreement. I grabbed my bag and walked out of the room, past Alice, who was still motionless.

"This is impossible."

I could hear her whispering it. I could only smile at her.

I grabbed an apple and left the house. Alice came right behind.

Upon opening the door, I came across three people.

It was Jay, Irina and Ana.
