Chapter 5: Old Man...

Being unconscious sucks ass...

To be honest, if someone is unconscious, it's pretty much just another form of sleep. Only, it involves blunt force trauma to the head or the use of other forms of physical harm to the cranial. So, after being struck in the head with a flying body, I would assume I would wake up in a few moments.

Of course, I was wrong...

Instead, I was now floating in a vast white void.

Luckily, I still had my physical form. I felt a sense of ease, knowing that I won't be floating around in an invisible body. Just the thought drives me to shudder as I flew aimlessly in the void. I crossed my legs as my hands lazily locked behind my head. I gave off a tired yawn as I continued to float around, my eyes gazing at nothing.

Slowly, seconds turned into minutes...

Then, minutes slowly turned to hours...

At one point, I thought it would be a good idea to train with some of my force powers. Sadly, I had no idea how to train, and the only thing I could do was push myself around with just the wave of my hand. It was fun at first until I accidentally placed both of my hands together.

It was cool at first...

No, scratch that...

It was fucking horrible...

I didn't know a human body could fly that fast...

So, after a session of vomiting later, I was now trying my best to steady my spinning mind. I was glad that my vomit was magically gone, and it gave me relief knowing I was not floating around with it. The last thing I need is to get a faceful of my own vomit.

God, that would be disgusting...

Shivering in disgust, I gently pushed myself around as the tingling within my head was just at a moderate level. Yawning, I raised my hand in a 'finger gun' and shot a small wave of the force in front of me. Suddenly, the white void in front of me exploded in darkness. My eyes widened in panic as a shockwave suddenly struck me at full force. I was thrown across the void and was now spinning at incredible speeds.

"FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKK!"

Oh no...

I'm about to vomit again...

I placed a hand over my mouth as I continued to fly across the void. As my stomach began to churn, I was suddenly stopped. It was so sudden that it caused my insides to move, kinda like when you go down a rollercoaster. I felt bile fill up my throat and burn the back of my esophagus. I tightly closed my mouth and forcibly swallowed back down the vomit. I gagged in response as the burning sensation sent shivers down my spine.

Spitting, I gazed back up at my surroundings and felt hairs on my neck stand on end. The white void was gone and was replaced by black space. It gave me an uneasy feeling and caused my heart to thump loudly in my chest. As if I had to explain, the white room gave me a sense of peace and comfort, while the darkness gave me a sense of anxiety and discomfort. I was cautious as I gazed around the void, my eyes taking in every single detail.

Well, at least I tried too...

There isn't much to look at, so I pretty much just stared into the darkness, hoping to find something abnormal.

And guess what?

I actually saw something!

I felt my gaze lock onto a figure floating a few yards away. They were currently sitting at a wooden desk. I gently used the force to propel me forward and watched as the figure slowly came into view. He was an elderly man with weathered features and greying beard and hair. He had slightly bushy eyebrows and dark green eyes. He was wearing a white button-up t-shirt, along with some black slacks and a pair of black dress shoes. His figure was bulky, and I could see his rough and calloused hands holding a small pencil.

Currently, he was writing away on a thick stack of papers. He had a smile on his face, causing his mustache to cover his upper lip as he continued to write. He was oblivious to my approach, well at least I thought he was. After getting a few feet away from him, he suddenly stopped his writing and turned his head toward my direction. I felt my entire body freeze in place like an invisible force was constricting my movements. I felt my heart thump in panic, but slowly the feeling vanished, and the man's smile seemed to grow bigger underneath his facial hair.

"Goodness, it's been so long since I've had company."

He stood up from his desk, his movements somewhat slow, as he gave off a muffled groan in response. I could hear his bones creak in response, but he gave off a satisfied sigh as he fully stood up. He was rather tall, and his body seemed even bigger from when he was sitting down. Smiling, he slowly walked around his desk and towards me. Watching his approach, the desk and chair behind him seemingly vanished, but it only surprised me for a second before I returned my gaze back to the old man. At the moment, as I watched his approach, only one thought came to mind.

"Are you God?"

The old man's eyebrow quirked upwards before he suddenly chuckled in response. His broad shoulders shook as he rubbed the back of his neck. Slowly, he shook his head and gazed at me with a kind and gentle gaze.

"Nope, I am not God...Rather, I can say that I'm somewhat like you."

I cocked my head to the side and asked in confusion, "What do you mean?" The old man continued forward and stood directly in front of me, his figure towering over me. He placed one of his calloused hands on my shoulder and replied, "I was brought into this world...Just like you." I felt my eyes widen in realization as I whispered, "So, did you die too?" The old man shook his head and gently pushed me back. I panicked as I started to fall, but suddenly I felt my back hit something soft, and I blinked in surprise. Glancing down, I found myself sitting on a leather couch.

The couch shifted, and I glanced to my right to see the old man sitting down beside me. He gave off another sigh of satisfaction as he leaned his back against the soft cushions.

"We aren't dead," The old man said as he massaged his shoulder, "We were just sent here by some otherworldly force." I blinked in response and said, "How?" The old man chuckled and said, "I don't know?" I deadpanned at him, which only caused him to smile.

"So, you have no idea what or who brought us here?"

The old man nodded in response.

I sighed and leaned back against the cushions. I felt myself feeling somewhat, and to my surprise, the old man noticed it immediately. I felt a large hand plop itself onto my head before it roughed up my hair. I turned toward the old man to see him smiling.

"Down feel down kid," He pulled his hand away and continued, "At least we aren't reborn as babies or some sort of grotesque alien?" I gave a wry smile as I replied, "Yeah...I rather not live out the first years of my life shitting in my diapers."

The old man chuckled and slowly stood up from the couch. He stroked his beard and peered over his shoulder at me. "So," He said, his tone sounding cheerful, "I think it's about time for you to wake up." I raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"Huh?"

His smile grew as he raised one of his hands. Suddenly, there was a small flash of light, but it quickly vanished, and a medium-sized orb was within his palm. Upon closer inspection, I found my eyes bulging open. Yet, before I could speak out my thoughts. I felt my vision suddenly explode in light as my body was suddenly lifted off the couch. As I was magically flung somewhere, I heard the faint voice of the old man.

"We will meet again! Also, try not to die before then ya hear!"

Before I could scream out my response, my mind went blank, and the last thing I heard was the loud laughter of the old man.
