Witches

Elora's point of view:

I shuddered as I felt someone hugging me, my mind went blank for a few seconds before I could think clearly again.

I returned the hug and allowed myself to drown in that feeling of comfort and security I'd been missing so much for the past month. I let the tears I had been holding flow, letting go of all the anguish I felt.

"Sorry" I heard the restaurant owner sigh above my head and slowly pull away from the hug "Let me introduce me, my name is Sabrina, your grandmother, Alanis, and I have been known for a long time" She paused as she realigned her emotions before continuing "Let's go upstairs to have a proper conversation"

I nodded and turned to Arthur to thank him "Thanks for guiding me, see you later" I said goodbye to him and followed Sabrina upstairs.

Walking a few steps behind her, I remained silent as I followed her.

Soon, we arrived at a comfortable room, which was possibly an office, with a rectangular table next to a window and two small sofas in the center, where visitors would be received.

"Sit down and make yourself comfortable, I believe our conversation will be a little long" She turned to me saying and looking into my eyes "At least now you will be safe for a while"

I nodded and sat on the couch waiting for her to start asking her questions.

"Could you tell me what happened to Alanis, to she to send you here?"

I stared at her for a few seconds trying to organize everything that had happened in the last month, I didn't know why, but Sabrina gave me a familiar and comforting feeling, like a family member. Shaking my head to avoid digressing too much, I organized my thoughts and reported everything that happened from my birthday until my arrival in the capital"

* * *

After a few minutes, I finished my account and Sabrina was silent, mulling something over.

I looked at her expectantly and a little pain in my eyes, I still hadn't gotten over everything I'd been through.

*Sigh*

I heard her sigh heavily, as if to release her turbulent emotions.

"Where to start?" She began "Looks like they started acting sooner than expected *mumbles*, there's nothing we can do but prepare"

"Elora, you may have noticed that, to you, I seem to convey a pleasant and familiar 'aura', right?"

I nodded in agreement waiting for her to continue.

"As Alanis tried to tell you that day, there are people a little more special in the world we live in, these people can observe and influence the natural balance of things and this 'ability', if you can put it that way, after discovered, 'we' were in imminent danger"

"In short, me, your grandmother, your mother and even you are one of these 'beings', people who can threaten the current balance, which can be considered a blessing or a curse for us"

"Because of this influence we have, some have labeled us with a sort of title, meaning we're also known as 'witches'"

I listened carefully as she stared into Sabrina's eyes in amazement, not looking away.

It finally looked like the answers to my maelstrom of questions were finally going to be resolved.
