Prologue

As I had accepted to participate in the Competition between Realms, from next week, throughout the month until the day of the competition, all students would have some special classes to properly prepare for the event.

Morning classes would still take place without interruption, as would practical classes every other day, however, those who would compete would have extra practical classes in the afternoons off and pre-debate classes in the morning on our day off.

In the end, the competition would be divided into three phases: 1st Distance Combat, 2nd Melee Combat and 3rd Knowledge.

To participate in the 1st and 3rd phase, it was necessary the recommendation of a teacher, while the 2nd phase was open to anyone who wanted to participate.

The week went by quickly and at the beginning of the next one the intensives officially started.

All students received intensive hand-to-hand combat classes as all would travel together, either to watch or participate.

Days passed and when we least expected it was the day we left.

All students and representatives of the Academies would will meet in a neutral city called Brigido that bordered all five kingdoms, namely: The Kingdom of Aran, Kingdom of Genevieve, Kingdom of Avalon, Kingdom of Vaughan and Kingdom of Aodh.

And then, on Monday morning, a month after the bimonthly exams, all the Royal Academy students met in the main square awaiting our departure.

I sat in the usual bench and watched the students around me, as I already imagined after seeing the results of our first test, there were few students, about 500 students, 400 in the first year and only 100 in the second year, I could see how difficult it was to stay here.

After waiting about 1 hour this year's representatives finally showed up, there were three teachers and I unexpectedly knew two of them: Breno and Lana. The third teacher was a middle-aged gentleman who looked nothing like a teacher, he looked more like a sovereign and his posture indicated that he was a person of the highest level of nobility.

I narrowed my eyes slightly and reflected that this person could be Aran's former emperors.

My grandmother had already told me that the Royal Family was divided into two parts, one being the emperor's family after marriage and the other being the previous emperor, the emperor' father, mother, brothers, grandchildren and other blood relatives .

While the first was in charge of taking care of state and political affairs, the second dealt with smaller cases and took care of the simpler needs of the people.

It was a mystery why he is disguised as a teacher and I was sure about my assessment.

"Emperor Renan Mordha, what are you planning?" I thought as I watched him from afar.
