Day One - Alfie (1)

WARNING: 18+ content ahead.

Alfie was in bed, currently listening to soft lo fi music while in his sleeping state. His alarm however ceased to wake him up. Alfie opened his eyes, the lo fi music blasting in his headphones. He took them off and went on his phone.

"No service, weird." A strong Italian accent came out of his mouth, he slid a hand into his red curly hair as he used his other hand to turn off his phone. There was no internet either. This weirded him out even more. His green eyes gazed towards his mirror.

"Let's see what is happening." He stood up, and made his bed before walking over to the window. He reached for the curtains and pulled them to the side, his eyes widened in horror to see that the surface just below him was covered in this type of yellow gas.

Loud thumps from below could be heard from inside of the gas, he couldn't spot the thing making the sounds as a loud roar occurred, then more roars came along. "What the fuck…"

The night before the incident, Alfie was in a club with his friend Flavio, he held a radlers in his hand. Listening to the bass echo in his ears. "You seem down." Flavio looked at him, his straight green hair, almost down to his shoulder as he titled his head. Flavio's blue eyes pierced him in a detective way.

"No, I am just thinking." Aflie sipped the radlers, knowing he would feel like shit afterwards. "Is it about Alice? I know you liked her and all." Flavio sipped his corona. "Oh yeah, her. She's been ignoring me since I confessed to her and all." He chuckled and took a bigger sip, he wanted to feel happy.

"Well come on, don't be sad." Flavio pointed over at a purple curtained space. "No, no. I am not like that." He sipped again. "Okay, okay. I will see you later. I am going there." Flavio hopped off of the club stool and walked off.

He turned around and waved at Alfie before walking inside of the curtained room. "Weirdo." He chuckled, Flavio has been there for him since he was a kid. He hasn't changed one bit.

Alfie closed his eyes and listened to the music, trying to mimic a guitar using his fingers only. He heard the stool next to him squeak and he opened his eyes. A beautiful girl looked at him. "You seem to be in your own world." She giggled and turned to the bartender. "Hey, can I get two shots of cynar?" she tapped her fingers onto the counter.

"Right away." He turned around and grabbed the cynar bottle, pouring two shots. Alfie looked at her. She had short raven hair and light raven eyes, she matched her hair and eyes with the same colour lipstick.

She seemed to be wearing what seemed like a very expensive purple dress. The bartender handed over the shots. "Thank you." She handed it to Alfie. "You seem like you need it much more than I do." She chuckled and downed the cynar, he analysed the brown liquid before taking the shot.

"The name is Emma, yours?" Emma smiled. "Alfie." He was embarrassed due to the little guitar thing he did. "Why do you seem down?" She analysed Alfie carefully.

"The good old friendzone nobody likes." Alfie answered truthfully. "I see, why did they friendzone you?" She frowned. "Well, she just didn't like me like that, and I am assuming she now cut contact with me." Alife chuckled.

"My boyfriend, now ex, cheated on me with my best friend. I caught them in bed." Emma sighed. "Oh shit, I'm sorry…" Alfie frowned. "It was during an expensive party and he kicked me out so I have to stay in here for as long as I can." She chuckled.

Alfie felt bad for her. "You can come stay at my place for a bit till you get yourself figured out." Alfie smiled, Emma looked as if she didn't expect that offer. "Thank you." She smiled. "Well, should we get going now?" Emma asked and he looked over at where Flavio went.

"Yeah, sure." Alfie hopped off and exited the bar, soon they entered his apartment. "Nice little place you have." Emma stared at a group of guitars hanging around the walls. There must have been at least 7 of them. "You play the guitar?" She looked at him.

"Yeah, I do. I'm not very good at it though. These are my old guitars." He chuckled and pointed over at the first one, just near the entrance. "That one was my dads, it has a special place in my heart ever since he passed away. He gave it to me when he knew he was diagnosed with cancer when I was around 10?" Alfie had a straight face, Emma frowned. "Oh dear, I am so sorry." Emma pursed her lips, analysing the guitars. "What about the other ones?"

"Oh, the other ones… they are just old ones I used to use. The second one won me my first prize at a talent show." He chuckled and went into his room. It was a small dimly lit room, and the only source of light was the lava lamp.

"Do you think you can play me a song?" Emma sat on the bed, smiling. "Oh, of course." he walked over to a case and opened it, pulling out a guitar with a snake design, the colour was black mixed with red strings and a blue outline. "Looks cool." She kicked her legs and watched as he sat down next to her.

"Have you made a song?" Emma smiled and Alife nodded. "It's still in development. But it's about my ex. It's not really good" He chuckled. "Okay, play it for me!" She stared into his eyes and he nodded, and began gently playing the guitar in a smooth and gentle way.

"I'm sure she'd make a really excellent mother, cinemas

Would she go down on your shoulder in a theatre" He switched the rhythm. "Drinking,

hate the thought of you being with someone else, talking about kids, It's knowing that she knows you now after only guessing."

Emma just watched, humming the tune. The lyrics weren't exactly good but him playing the guitar was. "Drink at a club,It's been seven hours and fifteen days. A cheater, Of the mess you left when you went away." He looked down. "Drink all alone on a Sunday morning, talking about kids, just the memory of your face." He stopped singing and he held the guitar. "I know it isn't the best but-" Emma cut him off, pressing her lips against his. Her lips felt soft. Alfie was in shock and he gently lowered the guitar, kissing her back.

She lowered on the bed and reached for him. "Let me help you forget her." She smiled.

Alfie looked over at the bed, Emma wasn't there and his new guitar wasn't there either. His wardrobe was opened. Some things were missing. "For fuck sake." He opened the door of his bedroom and looked around his apartment, making sure she wasn't hiding before walking in the hallway. "Where is everyone?" He questioned himself before walking down it. "EMMAAA?" He yelled as he inched towards the upper staircase.

"Fuck, it's like everyone disappeared." Alife heard a loud gunshot from up above. "What the fuck is going on." He rushed up the staircase and heard another one, same with arguing. "YOU FUCKING SHOT HIM!" An older woman screamed. "SO? ONE OF THOSE PLANTS GOT EM HE WAS GOING TO TURN INTO ONE OF THOSE MONSTERS IN THERE!" A young man screamed back at her.

"DON'T MAKE ME SHOOT YOU TOO!" He continued as Alife reached the rooftop entrance and opened it, seeing a group of 5, except for the young boy who was on the floor, his eyes widened as the young boy poofed into the yellow gas, with the gas fading seconds later.

The young man turned to face Alfie and aimed his rifle at him. "Who the fuck are you?" The group looked at her, within that group was Emma. He decided not to yell at her and to make things worse, Emma gave him a fearful look. Knowing full well she had been caught.

"The name is Alfie, you?" He walked over and the young boy kept his finger on the rifle. "DON'T MOVE, I WILL SHOOT YOU DEAD!" Alfie looked at the older woman, she was one of the landlords. Her name was Louise. There were two young boys, both probably between the age of 13 and 16. "Are these Mr. Pat's boys?" Alfie asked.

He looked at where the young boy used to be. "What's your name?" Alfie continued to ask. "Leonardo." He replied. "Yes, these are Pat's boys. He didn't make it." Louise looked down. "Okay." Alfie's heart was beating as he looked around, the ground and around 35 feet was covered in this yellow gas, though some smoke due to fires was visible. "Can someone tell me what the hell is going on?"
