The heart monitor beeped. 

The light flickered.

Her heavy eyelids rose.

Just Another Tragedy

"After two weeks, you have to come again." Anna smiled and nodded. Isobel had a protective arm wrapped around Anna as she rested her head on Isobel's shoulder.  They both stood outside the room, ready to leave and to welcome the warmth of their house. Beca patted Anna on the shoulder and bid her goodbye.  


"Welcome back! How are you now?" The bell on the door rang as a few people walked in. Anna turned her head with a smile, how much she missed hearing that sound. 


"Better! Did you miss me?" she asked, turning back around. Madison's head bopped up and down as her bun fell open. So many seats sat empty as the bright light of the sun invaded the space giving the people inside sun-kissed looks. 


"Should we pull in the curtains? Anna asked, walking behind the counter putting on her apron.
