He Asked If She Was Afraid

Qi Jing was planning to hire her a tutor.

However, as she had just woken up from a vegetative state, he was concerned that the tutor may say something harsh when she didn't understand the concepts.

So, he scrapped the idea and didn't share it with her.

"Sure."

After a pause, he added, "You can't rush your studies. Take your time. You're not familiar with China's education system, so it's expected that you can't see the results shortly."

"I know, I'm not in a hurry. If there's anything I don't understand, can I ask you?"

"Yes."

When he found out that she had been in a vegetative state for five years, he didn't sympathise with her much.

He just felt that her life had been a little rough.

But now, he actually sympathised with her a lot.

If she grew up in the Qi family, she would definitely have been doted on by the entire family, especially with her likeable appearance.

She loved to smile so much that it influenced others around her to be happy too.

How could she committed suicide?

It seemed that there was another reason for her fall.

Perhaps, he should get someone to investigate.

He knew that it wasn't good to investigate her past privately, he needed to know her better in order to raise her like his younger sister.

He did not need to know everything, but he must be prepared to protect her when her family appeared in the future.

Now that he didn't know much, he could only stand aside and watch helplessly.

The two of them held hands for a while before walking back.

At the entrance of the main building, Xia Yunshu let go of her hand first.

Qi Jing stopped in his tracks when his hand was empty.

As he watched the girl walk away from him, his hand that she had held unconsciously rubbed against itself lightly.

Deep down, he felt something strange in his heart, but he could not tell what it was exactly.

Xia Yunshu couldn't read his mind and wouldn't know his thoughts.

She headed up and went straight back to her room.

Qi Jing was going up as well, so the two of them went together.

When they separated on the second floor, Xia Yunshu waved at him.

"Brother, I'll go back to my room first. It's been tiring for you since you went on a business trip. When you go upstairs, don't immediately sit at your workdesk. Take a good shower and get some sleep. Good night."

Qi Jing found her waving to be very cute.

"Good night," he said.

He was still expressionless when he said that.

However, he still stood where he was and had no intention of going upstairs.

Xia Yunshu smiled and urged him, "Brother, hurry up and go upstairs."

Qi Jing looked at her and asked, "Are you afraid of living alone on the second floor?"

That was when he realised that the corridor on the second floor was empty, and there were only the two of them in the entire building.

It didn't matter to him, but to a girl with the mind of a thirteen years old, she was still very sensitive.

Furthermore, she was probably afraid of living in an unfamiliar place.

He had overlooked this matter previously.

Xia Yunshu was a little surprised that he would ask this.

She took a look at the empty villa and quickly understood why he would ask this.

Afraid?

Feeling afraid was not possible here.

Not to mention the empty villa, she was extremely sleepy.

She could even sleep in a pile of dead people.

But of course, she wouldn't say that she wasn't afraid.

What a great opportunity!

She initially thought that she would have to wait for a while before she could set foot on the third floor.

After all, the third floor was completely his private territory.

It wouldn't be good for her to set foot on it too soon.

But now, it was different when he started this conversation.

She restrained her smile at the right moment so that it looked a little forced. "Umm, it's okay. I'm not very afraid."

She was still afraid then.

Qi Jing frowned slightly, blaming himself for his negligence.

"There are still empty rooms on the third floor. I'll have Aunt Song to get someone to clean them up tomorrow, and then move all your stuff to the third floor."

Before Xia Yunshu could answer, he said, "Forget it. It's still early. I'll get Aunt Song to get someone to clean it up. You take a shower first, then come upstairs after you're done. We'll move your stuff tomorrow."

Xia Yunshu, "..."

There wasn't a need to be so rushed.
