Eos sat with his legs folded, his posture straight and his palms resting on his knees. He was surrounded by an aura of Celestial Qi, which flowed around him and into him, creating a dazzling spectacle of colors that sparkled in every shade imaginable. The room was filled with otherworldly energy that pulsed and vibrated with each breath he took.
Nephele watched in awe as Eos sat there, looking like a divine being that had descended from the heavens. She had been instructed to keep an eye on him, but it was difficult to focus when he was glowing like a god. She couldn't help but stare at him, mesmerized by his beauty and the energy that radiated from him.
As she gazed at him, she noticed that his eyes were closed, and his breathing was slow and steady. She wondered what he was doing, and as if sensing her curiosity, he opened his eyes and looked at her with a serene expression. Nephele felt a jolt of electricity run through her as their eyes met, and she quickly looked away, feeling embarrassed for staring.
Eos smiled at her, and Nephele felt her heart skip a beat. She knew that she should focus on her task, but it was hard when he looked at her like that. She felt as though she was under a spell, and she couldn't break free from it.
As Eos closed his eyes once again, Nephele tried to concentrate on her duty, but her mind kept wandering back to him. She couldn't help but feel drawn to him, and she wondered if he felt the same way.
For the rest of the time, Nephele remained vigilant, watching over Eos as he meditated. However, she couldn't shake off the feeling of being enchanted by him, and she knew that it would take some time before she could regain her composure.
---------------
Suddenly the door opened and no more than five cultivators entered. Without a word, they rushed towards them. Nephele took a step towards them and her qi exploded outwards, throwing them back so that three of them were thrown into the wall behind them.
She moved her arms in a circular motion and two qi swords appeared in her hands. The blades glowed with a brilliant blue light, illuminating the room. She advanced towards them, and with a single slash, she bisected one of the cultivators in two.
The remaining four were on their feet, but Nephele was too quick for them.
She lunged forward and plunged one of the swords into the chest of the first cultivator, twisting it before drawing it out. Blood spurted out of the wound and onto her face, but she didn't flinch.
The next attacker tried to retaliate, but Nephele was already on him. She used her telekinetic abilities to lift him off the ground and slam him against the ceiling. The sound of bones cracking echoed through the room as his body went limp.
Nephele summoned a qi sword out of thin air and hurled it toward the fleeing cultivator with lightning speed. The blade impaled his back, pinning him to the wall. A gurgling scream escaped his lips before he crumpled to the ground, lifeless, as the sword dissolved into nothingness.
The last attacker was now alone and facing Nephele. He knew he was outmatched, but he refused to back down. Nephele smiled wickedly as she raised her remaining sword and charged toward him.
Her sword met his, and they engaged in a fierce battle. Sparks flew from the swords, filling the room with a brilliant light. Nephele moved gracefully and quickly, dodging every swing of his sword as if it were nothing.
Nephele summoned her qi pressure field effortlessly, lifting the man off the ground and spreading his limbs out like a cross. Her sword glowed with a pale blue light before she swiftly sliced through his stomach, causing blood and organs to spill out and filling the room with the sound of his agonizing screams.
Before he fell to the ground, Nephele's arm moved and she delivered a fatal slash to his neck, severing his head from his body. Once the man was dead, she deactivated her pressure field and her swords disappeared, leaving behind five mangled bodies, each one missing a major organ or limb.
Nephele turned around and looked at Eos, wondering if he was alright. He was still sitting in the same position as she had left him, his eyes closed and his breathing steady. Nephele felt a sense of pride swell within her as she realized that Eos was safe.
"Are you alright?" she asked, placing a hand on his shoulder. The touch sent shivers down her spine and she felt an odd sensation run through her body. She knew that she shouldn't feel that way, but she couldn't help it.
"I'm fine, Nephele. But maybe you didn't have to kill them all. Maybe we could have gotten some information out of them. But actions speak louder than words. The only question is why they send so few people after us. They were only in the early Nascent Realm." Eos said with an expressionless voice.
Nepheles' face flushed with embarrassment as she realized the consequences of her impulsive actions. "I'm sorry, I didn't think," she stammered.
Eos smiled kindly and reassured her, "It's alright. Now we know the intentions of the Dragon Sky Sect towards us."
He approached Nephele and gently wiped the blood from her cheek, a gesture that sent shivers down her spine. She felt a strange sensation of warmth and comfort emanating from him, and she couldn't help but feel drawn to him even more.
"Thank you," she said softly, her cheeks blushing.
Eos smiled warmly and replied, "You're welcome."
Eos walked up to the fallen and began methodically searching through their belongings, trying to find any clues as to why they had been attacked or if there was any connection to the Dragon Sky Sect.
After a few minutes, he found a small, piece of parchment in one of the man's pockets. On it was written a single word: 'Firefly'. Eos held it up for Nephele to see, who gave him an incredulous look.
"What does that mean?" she asked, her brow furrowing in confusion.
Eos shrugged, "I'm not sure. But whatever it is, it's something we need to investigate further. Come on, let's go and find Ciri."
"But, you should go and wash yourself up," Eos said, noticing the dried blood on Nephele's clothing. "I'll wait here."
Nephele nodded, not wanting to argue with him. She walked away, the words 'Firefly' echoing in her mind as she went. What could it possibly mean? She had never heard of the word before and it seemed to be connected to the Dragon Sky Sect in some way.
