49. An Eyesore

And the one who silenced her was equally not saying anything. For a long while. She didn't ask about it. Didn't want to question him when he was this vulnerable just to satisfy her prying. 

"I …" his voice shook, shattering her heart.

Aruna couldn't hear him like that. Not like that. Hendra never showed his weakness to her, not to anyone. She turned to her side, holding his head to her chest, fingers running through his brownish hair.

"Sleep … I know you're exhausted," and Aruna caught a glimpse of the tears on his face, "I want to rest, so let's just sleep."

They were silent then. The clock ticked away, not caring of the young woman who kept her gaze on it. Staring at the gradual turning of the clock hand. She couldn't force her mind to rest. Not when her mind kept wandering to the man who wet her chest until sleep claimed him.
