Rebecca's school resumed classes after the holiday, so she went back to living in her dormitory, but she had Jacob use the computer to send her whatever I gave him so that she could continue to study my language there during her rare moments of free time.

"Jacob, how much do these books cost?" I asked him one evening. He picked one up and showed me something on the back.

"The price is printed right over here. Looks like this one is 50 shekels", he said. I looked closely and saw that it said 49.90.

"That's not exactly 50", I pointed out.

"Yes, but that's just a trick they do to make people feel like it's cheaper than it really is, so I say 50. It's practically the same", he replied.

"How much is a shekel worth?" I asked.

"Well, I don't really know how to answer that. 50 of them bought this book. About 6 of them will buy a loaf of the cheapest sliced bread or a bottle of milk", he answered.
