Blueprints

After lunch, as soon as Jacob was gone, I started working. I pulled out large sheets of paper and began drawing on them. I wasn't some great artist, but decades of designing my own clothes have given me a decent hand for simple sketches.

The first sketch was of water pumps. I had two versions of those. One was similar to what existed in Jacob's world, using a rotating fan to push the water along, except in my sketch the rotation was created not by electricity, but by an artifact that sent kinetic energy to spikes that came out of the pole the fan was attached to. As each spike passed in front of the output of the artifact, it would receive kinetic energy that pushed it away from the artifact. Since the spikes came out of a circular rod, they would rotate the rod, and thus the attached fan.
