VIVIAN

Ever since we came over to my world, Jacob and I have been carefully keeping track of the Jewish calendar. Luckily my world and his world seemed to have their seasons synchronized and the same length of years, months, and weeks. Even the weekdays were the same. The only difference was using a different calendar to keep track of time. That made it much easier for us.

Since giving birth we counted every day, and the fortieth day was swiftly approaching. I knew the wait was difficult for Jacob. I could see it in his gaze, and sometimes in the bulge in his pants. It was difficult for me too. I yearned for his touch, his embrace. However, I also appreciated the time apart. I needed time to rest, to recuperate from the ordeal of the delivery, without the pressure of my husband's needs. Even after all these weeks, I still hadn't fully recovered back to my previous state.
