The Library

"You have quick thinking and know and estimate of how much nen to divide when defending and attacking, but in the split second it takes you to think about it, I have a chance to defeat you.

You have to be careful when fighting seriously strong opponents, like me. When you have to divide nen into defense and offense in your body to make your attacks more effective and defend at the same time, try to make it more instinctive.

When your body instinctively splits to protect an area before you command it to, that's when your defense will be great enough that you can focus more on attacks and defeating you opponent.

Do you understand?"

Currently, I was going over the spar I recently had with Maha.

I was giving him advice on things I noticed and how to improve, and Maha seemed grateful for it.

"Thank you, sister. I didn't even realize I was doing it until you pointed it out! Is there a way to make it instinctive, or does it just come with practice? I haven't had as much experience fighting strong enough opponents on my missions, unlike you, so you have more knowledge on it.

Should I ask father to assign me harder missions or to allow me more fighting experience?"

Maha was mature enough to understand that he needed powerful opponents in order to get better, and I was glad he was so quick to catch on.

Maha was also very powerful - so powerful that I needed to actually try in order to win, which was good because except for the Zoldycks, no one else seemed to put up much of a challenge.

"Yes, you should. I can fight with you for now, and I can spar with you when I visit, but when I leave you won't have as many opportunities to fight stronger opponents than you who don't actually want to kill you.

You'll have to find nen users who are on your level or slightly more powerful, and if you're lucky, someone who would be willing to have a friendly fight with you, without killing.

Heavens Arena Floor Masters are too weak to put up enough of a fight for you, unless a genius comes, so you should ask father for help."

Maha nodded, reflecting on my words.

When we were talking about serious stuff, Maha took my words to heart and thought about them deeply, which made me feel appreciated.

"Alright, I'll do that. Thank you, Mizuki. I'll go now, and thank you for the match."

Maha bowed slightly, before turning and leaving to father.

In the meantime, I should actually start to look for a library or somewhere that I could use to obtain knowledge from.

My first adventure would be finding the Book of Wisdom, and to be able to use it effectively, I needed to find somewhere with lots of knowledge. I could always memorize it, but sometimes I can't remember exact words, just the general meaning, and some books need lots of analysis to be able to understand their true meaning.

From what I've heard, the Book of Wisdom stores all knowledge, so I can add further knowledge as well as extract it. It was like a book with I infinite pages, although if I needed to look something specific up, I could think about the context of it or what it's about.

It's kind of like a portable library with a librarian but with a lot more knowledge.

As I thought about finding a library, I wandered deep into the mansion. I remembered there being a restricted section with guards, so I wandered in that direction. I noticed some guards receiving orders from a butler, so I went to the butler and asked if there was a library nearby.

I had never expressed much interest in what was inside the mansion, so the butler seemed surprised, but he quickly recovered and answered me respectfully.

"There is, but it's rather hard to find as it contains important and rare books. This corridor is dedicated to protecting the library, but seeing as it's you, Miss Mizuki, I'll escort you. I'm sure you would have no trouble with the traps, but the library requires a specific way to get in, so please don't take offense."

The butler says, visibly worried I would be offended by his suggestion.

"Very well. Take me there. I might visit constantly for the remainder of time I am here if it contains good knowledge, so make sure to tell me every detail of the traps and how to get in."

I reply, following the butler.

"Yes, Miss."

The butler replies, glancing back at me before leading the way.

As the butler explains details about the traps, how to trigger them, what the traps are, I carefully memorize every detail of the wall. I would need to be able to get here alone in the future, and I might even need to teleport here if teleporting straight into the library is impossible.

We stop at a wall, and I watch in silence as the butler taps on a stone. I memorize the stone, watching carefully.

The butler then kicks four stones toward the bottom, and the footprints stay for a few seconds before the wall transforms into a door.

I memorize the direction of the way he kicked the wall, and how his foot was positioned, before turning to the butler. Before him appears a keypad, and he types it in quickly, saying to me,

"Master Ankoku made it so the code must be typed in under 10 seconds. The code is rather long, so I'm afraid I cannot slow down. Would you like me to say the code after, or are you able to see it?"

I smirk at his worry.

"It's fine, I can see it perfectly fine, even with your hand covering it."

The butler finishes, and the door swings open.

"It's ***********..., right?"

The password was indeed quite long, but it was easy enough to memorize.

The butler seems slightly surprised, and replies.

"Yes, Miss Mizuki. Please enjoy the library to your heart's content."

The butler bows before leaving, and his image blurs before he leaves, most likely to give further instructions to guards.

I step further inside the library, mentally filing away every in inch of the space for future use if I were to teleport in here.

I had noticed that there was a big empty space, and seeing as there seemed to no traps inside the library, I had deemed that teleporting in here would be safe.

I started browsing through the shelves, memorizing the titles as I went.

I noticed one book that had a gold spine.

The title was, 'Nen and It's Unknown Secrets'.

I grabbed the book off the shelf, and began to read.

***

An hour later, I set the book down. The book was rather thick, and contained surprising information.

It mentioned that it was possible to form spirits from nen if you were an enhancer, and there was a nen user who had such talent in his emitter type that he had made many spirits who roamed free to this day.

His love for the spirits was so deep that his nen that formed the spirits didn't fade away, and the spirits stay hidden away from humans unless they find someone they feel a connection to.

The book also mentions the dragon Chie had told me about, but it also had new information, such as some of the dragon's powers.

The book itself states that the dragon's entire collection of powers was too large and mysterious for the book to have all of them, but it does say the dragon can transform into a human, change its appearance (like me), fly (of course), communicate with animals (like me), read minds and communicate using telepathy, and can control weather to an extent.

The dragon was so powerful it was categorized as one of the strongest creatures on the Dark Continent before it grew bored and left.

The book states the dragon had communicated with some humans, one being a Zoldyck, and the dragon had sealed itself into a hidden, mysterious and unknown cave shortly after speaking to the Zoldyck.

The book's information was so large and accurate, I was amazed.

If all the books were like this, this was an amazing find.

I put the book back, promising myself I would come back here when I obtained the Book of Wisdom, and I would put the information of all the books here into the Book of Wisdom, as well as Chie's knowledge.

After I put the book away, I start looking for another one, but a knock resounds from the door.

"Miss Mizuki, I apologize for interrupting you, but Master Ankoku requested for you. I believe it is for your next mission. Shall I escort you, or can you go yourself?"

Perfect timing, butler. Commendable.

"I'll go myself, thanks. Bye."

I teleport to father's office, bowing politely.

"You requested for me, father?"

Father looks up, slightly surprised, but regains his composure in under a second and replies.

"Yes, Mizuki. You have your next mission; it's a drug dealer who is my client's rival. He runs a casino with drugs behind the scenes, so he's involved in gambling, too. You'll find him at the casino quite often. Here's his file."

Father leans forward, placing a folder labeled 'Futoi Haisha.'

I grabbed it and skimmed through it quickly; I would read it in detail later.

Futoi Haisha was 45 years old, and he ran a drug business.

He was associated with the Underworld, like almost all my targets, and ran a casino as his front and cover, as well as a way to earn extra money.

Father had obtained extra information, like where Haisha currently resides, and how many people he usually had at his house.

In two days he is holding a meeting with some of his clients and partners to discuss about financials.

"Your client asked to you kill him on the night he's holding the meeting. The client said it should be fine to kill anyone else, like the other people in the meeting. He doesn't care as long as the target is dead, so feel free to choose how to kill him. And dispose of the body."

I smirk settles on my lips.

"Yes, father. Thank you."

I already had an idea of how to kill Haisha silently, efficiently and effectively, as well as where to dispose of the body.

Father had given me many options, and I knew he must have requested it at the very least to get such good conditions.

"You may be excused now, Mizuki. You don't have to inform me when you're leaving, but after you finish the job, check back in with me."

Father waves his hand, dismissing me, and I accept his final words.

"Yes, father."

With that, my figure blurs and I vanish. I teleport to my room; it had my weapons, clothes, and assassin stuff. I organized my bag with what I would need, and add some needles.

While I could conjure basic needles and infuse them with nen, and sometimes even poisonous needles, it was still easier to just bring needles, especially if they were not ordinary ones.

My assassination needles had a poison on the tip, so deadly I had only managed to become immune to it after several months.

The poison would kill instantly, leaving no traces of any wounds on the body unless the needle was in an obvious spot.

I would never make such a mistake, but I would be disposing of the body anyway, so it didn't matter much anyway.

A smirk forms on my lips once again; I was looking forward to assassinating this Haisha.

Author's Note:

If you have any suggestions, like more nen secrets, some ideas for more books in the library, I might include them.

The next chapter will be the assassination, since someone requested for a chapter with Mizuki assassinating a target.

I will gladly accept any suggestions, but I might not see the comments right away.

Thank you!
