His Name Is Toshiro

I stayed silent, observing his features through my shadow.

He had one light blue eye and one dark blue eye, the differences so noticeable it was impossible to say they were the same color.

He had a pale face and blond hair, his eyebrows matching his hair color.

The silence grew, and the man shifted nervously as he awaited my reply.

"I'm an assassin."

The man's eyes widened, and he scrambled away from me, falling off his chair.

"But I'm not here to kill you. I was hired to kill your boss, but something I heard about you intrigued me, so I took a detour." I said, looking down at the man calmly.

The man's demeanor slightly relaxed, but he still observed me warily with a tense body.

"What's your name? Or should I call you Sam?"

Haisha had called him Sam, but I doubted that was his real name.

For one, because Haisha probably didn't care enough to actually remember the chemist's name.

Secondly, since this man new Nen, he probably wouldn't reveal his true identity.

Of course, these were all speculations, but I had learned that it's best to trust your brain and instincts, and they both agreed on this one.

"Toshiro."

The man replied tensely, not letting down his guard as he studied me.

Since I had dedicated this entire day to this chemist and getting drugs, I wasn't in a hurry.

I pulled up a chair, making myself comfortable as I stared down at the man.

"Toshiro, huh? That sounds more realistic. So, since I'm here to learn more about how you make these pills...enlighten me."

I said in a carefree manner, although I was completely serious.

I had determined I had to pretend to seem like I wasn't serious in order to let down his guard.

If I didn't make any hostile moves, he wouldn't be so wary of me, and hopefully tell me his secrets with just a little "push" from me.

Toshiro carefully stood up and sat down in his chair, his eyes not leaving me at all.

My lab coat made me seem less like an assassin, which was a plus since Toshiro might forget to be wary of me eventually.

It wasn't like I was here to kill him - I just wanted to learn his method of creating pills, get some pills, and maybe even make Toshiro join my side.

It would be very beneficial if I managed to get him to make pills for me, or at least whenever I requested them.

"Why do you want to know?!"

Toshiro asked as his eyebrows scrunched together, his voice raising slightly as what I imagined were bad thoughts rushed through his mind.

"Just curious."

I say in a relaxed posture.

"Listen. I'm not here to hurt you. I just want to learn more about the mysterious genius chemist Haisha acquired, and what makes him so genius.

"I know Nen too, so don't bother trying to hide that from me. I want the whole truth, and if you try to lie, I'll notice."

I said, my eyes still closed.

"Oh, and don't worry about any eavesdropping...I've made this room soundproof."

Toshiro's eyes widened as he looked around, noticing the shadows in between the cracks and under the doors after using gyo.

He swallowed, and my lips lifted as I continued talking.

"I won't judge you, and no matter what, you'll leave this room alive. Maybe I'll even help you, depending on your answer. I'm sure you didn't resort to making drugs when you have Nen for no reason."

Toshiro's shoulders relaxed, his tense posture fading away.

He seemed to be lost in thought, so I let him ponder until he finally spoke up.

"If I tell you everything... will you promise not to tell anyone, and to help me with one thing I ask after?"

A flicker of surprise disturbed my calm emotions, but it was gone as soon as it came, and my shadows weren't affected by it.

I wasn't expecting him to immediately agree, and even be so audacious as to ask for a favor from an assassin, but I chuckled as I agreed.

"Sure...depending on your answer and request. As long as the request doesn't require me to go out of my way too much."

Toshiro nodded, serious.

I crossed my legs and settled into my chair more comfortably, ready for a long conversation.

Toshiro opened his mouth, and began talking....

A/N:

I released this because of a flash of inspiration... and now I'm going to be stuck figuring out a backstory for Toshiro.

Wish me luck...

Hopefully the backstory and conversation turn out okay, and not too unrealistic.

Am I being too honest?

If there was anything that confused you, feel free to comment and ask.

And if there were any mistakes, feel free to tell me!

I don't always catch them!

Bye, and sorry this was so short, again.

Expect a lot of dialogue in the next chapter!

I'm off to take a break.

Don't expect a chapter too soon... sorry...
