Qin Shui

Decisions, Qin Shui thought, were the hardest things in life. No matter how abundant the number of options, the lingering effect of not choosing a certain one will stick with you all throughout your life. Once the certain timeframe is over, going back is impossible.

Qin Shui hated making choices. Sometimes, he thought it'd be nice if someone could just take over his body and make those choices for him. He'd relish in the idea of not having to choose. It wasn't up to him in the first place.

That, is what he thought at the current moment. 'A'? Or is it 'C'? He frowned, twirling his pen every few minutes. "No, it has to be 'D'", he muttered. His fingers turned white as a result of his tight grip as he lightly traced his pen over the choices repeatedly. Qin Shui underlined the same few words, but in the end, ended up back to square one.

His head grew fuzzy trying to absorb the words. Mentally, he fought against the background noise of pencil against wood and the flip of a page of paper. Seeing that the sentences were traced over so many times that half the words were covered in lead, he gripped the eraser and rubbed it fiercely against the paper.

That was when a sharp idea hit him. His eyebrows undid itself, in contrast to his previous mood, it could even be seen that there was a trace of mirth in his lips. Turning his eraser around to examine both sides, he stopped twirling his pen and decisively wrote the letter,' D', on one side, and 'C' on the other. For now, he could eliminate 'A' for being too short of an answer.

Having boldly printed both letters on each side of the eraser, he placed it against the table on its side. '3...2....and 1!' He counted in his head before flipped the eraser with his wrist. The said eraser rolled a few times, from the back of the desk all the way to the front, until it hit a small dent engraved into the table for the purpose of storing writing utensils.

Quickly, he snatched the eraser, careful not to turn it from its original position and observed the side facing the ceiling.

'D'

Qin Shui grinned. This time, without hesitation, he circled the answer choice. As soon as that was over with, he flipped his exam papers back to the start. Confirming that his name was at the top, he put down the pencil that had turned warm and sweaty under his hands and folded his arms, putting his head down.

From his point of view, he could see the whole left side of the classroom. From where he sat, two tables to the left would lead to the window. On this side of the wall, there was a total of two big windows. These windows would remain half open throughout the year until winter, then would return to its original position, back to being half opened.

From what Qin Shui could remember, someone had once tried to pry the window down further. Unsurprisingly, the window had made a sharp creaking sound that pierced the ears of many, the rust that had formed during the many years of this window was tainted on the persons hand. When this found out, it was accompanied by scolding and a full season punishment. Qin Shui smirked as he remembered it.

Aside from that, the view outside wasn't half bad. Especially from Qin Shui's classroom on the upmost floor, his whole class had the view of the school entrance which was almost always littered with leaves. Green, orange, or yellow. Unlike other schools, Qin Shui's school walls were white. Not brown, not red, but white. It had the appearance of a prestigious school to outsiders. This earned the envy of many other schools, but not only that, it had somehow even boosted the image of the students who go there.

Though there really wasn't anything to be prideful of other than the schools exterior, the school's teachers and students fed off of this. Despite this school not being specialised, the teachers were determined to maintain the atmosphere of a prestigious school. They were strict, and more often than not, gave demanding assignments. They were adamant about exams. Piling one every two days. Though this wasn't a fruits without labour type of situation. Grades rose and overtime, this schools reputation boosted.

Qin Shui neither loved this school nor hated it.
