Arc 4 Chapter 4.7 ( The Prince and The Eunuch )

Northern Niption Empire _

Captain Antoño Reyes squinted his eyes as he watched the camp of the enemy far away from them . He commanded about four platoons with a maximum of two hundred soldiers . Right now , they are in the first step to colonize the Eastern Prosperous Empire. 

Today is already the first week of the war and this is only a warm up for the high ranking officials who commanded from behind .

As an aspiring soldier who wants to achieve big merits , Captain Antoño naturally doesn't want to do this battle half-heartedly . He always watched and observed the behaviour of the other camp .

The camp of the Eastern Empire has the same strength as them and both has the same amount of soldiers.  It was clear that the latter's ability to collect information couldn't be underestimated .

" Prepare for the first wave of battle this afternoon. Colonel Diego wants us to eliminate as many soldiers as we can and lessen their numbers . "

The second lieutenant , platoon leader Troy nodded and went to call the squad leaders and prepare all the soldiers to wear their armor .

Captain Antoño stared at the map of their battle location and bit his lips .

The easterners unexpectedly has a lot of natural trenches that is very advantageous in a war.  Their empire has long been coveted by their emperor , because of their natural fortress environment and they wanted to own it and colonize western kingdom after  this war finished .

Eastern Camp _

" Major Liu , the scout squad has detected movements from the other camp . "

The face of the officer immediately turned serious and shouted . " Defend! "

The whole troop immediately readied their shields while the archers started drawing their bows .

Major stared intensely at the prepared seige weapons of the other camp .

" Watch out for the ballista's giant arrows and balls of rocks.  "

They already knew about that . A few minutes later , the Northerner's attack started . Sharp sounds of arrows being released resonated one after another as a solemn atmosphere gradually enveloped the battle area .

Numbers of the wounded soldiers keep on rising as their numbers were slowly about to drain . They cannot engage to melee with the enemy because of their lack of weapons and supply of medicines .

" Use the smoke screening  . " Major Liu commanded .

A squad leader heeded his command immediately went out and created smoke screens that hindered the sight of the enemy .

" I'll go climb up a tree , fire to the direction of my index fingers . "

Major Liu immediately climb up a tree from the blind spot of the enemy camp's vision .

The troop waited for Major Liu's index finger and saw that he was pointing to 3 o'clock direction . Archers immediately fired at their front right side and fired .

" Squad no. 2! 12 o'clock!! "

On the other side , a bit of panic flashed on the surface of Captain Antoño's face when the smoke screen appeared in the battlefield .

But he was confused why is the other camp could still target their soldiers .

" Defend! "

All of the northerner soldiers crouch down and put their shield at the front to block the enemy's arrows .

Not two far away from the small battle that was happening between two groups of troops . Two different groups of battalion was currently marching from opposite sides towards the center .

The battalion coming from the eastern Capital and the battalion led by the northerners from the north .

General Lin has already advanced to the battlefield to observe with secrecy while dragging his grandson along to teach him along the way .

Suddenly , Lieutenant Colonel Fang recieved a letter from the captain of the first group of troop that was settled in the borderline between the Eastern Prosperous Empire and Northern Niption Empire .

The Lieutenant Colonel immediately reported to Great General Lin that their numbers was about to get drained from the all night battle . For now , they tacitly ceased the battle temporarily to tend to their wounded comrades .

They have to immediately rapidly drive to the borderline or the Northern Niption Empire's battalion might arrive first and eliminate them completely .

This is a race against time . General Lin immediately sent his grandson out to give them assistance from the rear and decided to just wait for the brigade that was stationed at Crimson Town .

Lieutenant Colonel saluted to the Great General and then drove his horse rapidly towards the norther borderline together with the battalion .

Qiang Quiyue licked his lips and drove his horse following the back of the Lieutenant Colonel .

" Aren't you nervous? " Mo Xun asked hugging his waist from behind .

Qiang Quiyue shakes his head.  " No , I don't "

The battalion spent three hours resting for a while before heading out again . Eventually , Qiang Quiyue felt fatigue from constantly driving all day . Mo Xun beside him also complained inwardly thinking that modern world is really much better than the ancient world .

The moment they arrived at Niao Gu ( Bird Valley) . They recieved a bad news .

The troop led by Major Liu was defeated . Now , their battalion is now advancing towards the town they were at .

The best thing they could do now is to reinforce the fortification of the town and plan for tactics to deal with the incoming battalion .

Qiang Quiyue sat down on the corner and watched as the Lieutenant Colonel Fang analyzes the map of Niao Gu and argues about the information they got about the officer that was leading the incoming enemy battalion that they would soon face with his officers.

Lieutenant Colonel Fang commands a maximum of 1000 soldiers and he is known for his careful actions when making strategies to deal with enemies.  This is the first time for him to lead the battalion alone not under the command of a Colonel and he was a bit under pressure because of the information they got. 

The leading commander of the enemy battalion this time is a talented young man who has risen through the ranks of the military in fast speed .

He constantly achieved great merits at a very young age and he has good control over his own soldier.

They are arrogant and full of confidence . Their morale is good because they were the attacker , and as the defensive and passive side . Lieutenant Colonel Fang couldn't just carelessly give commands that could endanger the lives of his soldier for no reason , and just because of a mistake .

Mo Xun couldn't help smiling at the hard working military officer and rubbed the body of his wife .

" What do you think of their situation ? " Asked Mo Xun. 

Qiang Quiyue stared at the officer in his early thirties and answered . ", They are too tensed , and their morale were too low compared to the opponent.  I'm sure their performance will not be as effecient as their full capability.  '

" Do want to do something for them? Uhmm , giving them words of encouragement? "Mo Xun

Qiang Quiyue snorted and shook his head . " I'm not that type of person to give words of encouragement . It will only intensify their tensed nerves if i told them to work hard and not feel nervous . "

Qiang Quiyue stood up and beckoned to Mo Xun.  " I heard that Niao Gu has a lot of good musicians here? Let's go and check them out ."

A few minutes later , Lieutenant Colonel Fang massaged his temple and suddenly realized that someone was missing .

" Where is his highness the third prince? "

The troop leader at his side shrugged his shoulder similarly clueless about the whereabouts of the third imperial prince .

Lieutenant Colonel Fang has witnessed that young teenager's combat prowess and didn't bother on him too much , he would rather focus on the battle than take care of an imperial prince who suddenly disappeared like a bubble without noticing them .

On the norther camp's side , the said commander could be seen leisurely eating barbeque around the campfire together with his battalion . Unlike the former determined Captain Antoño . This lieutenant Colonel was already drowned by the pleasure of being at the top over others and constantly recieving praises about his abilities as a military officer . Captain Antoño was wounded because of the eastern camp's last resort to damage their camp .

The young Lieutenant Colonel didn't even visit the captain or congratulated him for working hard . One would really sigh in dismay about the big changes of the once humble officer , in front of attention and flowery praises , he unexpectedly gave in and became arrogant.

Early in the morning , the whole battalion of the eastern camp led by Lieutenant Colonel Fang , busied themselves with building and installing fortifications ordered by the Lieutenant Colonel .

A black clothed youth watched them from a far together with his eunuch .

" Won't you assist them just like what your grandfather want you to do? "

Qiang Quiyue smiled to him . " I'm already doing what i should do ... I would rather help them with my own means , than join them to carry those heavy things . This teenager has his own way . Why would you think i can't help them through the back with secrecy? After all , my presence must not be known by the enemy forces until the situation forces me to . "

" Let me play ... The mysterious black clothed hero too , my love . "

Mo Xun uncontrollably laughed and squeezed a certain man's butt .

But he would never dare think that the one he's molesting was actually still a teenager .

_, this is crime ... Shet _

Mo Xun watched as the little guy stealthily went to the supposed battlefield and planted landmines that the Lieutenant Colonel had not thought about.

Of course , as his lover , he would never allow someone to let anyone else proclaim the merit as theirs and sent Lieutenant Colonel Fang the movements of the prince through letters .

They moved out of the battalion and lived in one of the dilapidated house of Niao Gu.

Mo Xun strolled out of their house while his lover was playing with landmines and booby traps .

Several villagers of Niao Gu saw the handsome face of the eunuch . They couldn't help on starting to murmur with glee and giggle with bashful faces .

Mo Xun gave them a gentle smile and approaches them . The young ladies started pushing each other with flushed faces trying to force each other to confront and lead them to respond the gentleman's talk .

" Excuse me beautiful ladies , this scholar wanted to ask . If there's really a hidden creek that was hidden in the map that was produced by the town? "

The group of young villagers blushed at the gentleman and shyly nodded . " Y-yes sir , there's indeed a creek often used by us villagers . The creek was not drawn on the map because it was pretty hidden and no one could find it unless someone got lost there . Only a handful of the villagers could actually find the creek to wash their clothes . "

Mo Xun nodded in understanding and clasp his hands to them with a smile . The naive villagers flushedly bowed to the gentleman and hurriedly scurried away to talk in a hidden area and gossip about the handsome man with restrained scream and adoration.

When Lieutenant Colonel heard this from the eunuch . Lieutenant Colonel couldn't help clapping and laughed as he patted the young man's shoulder and didn't noticed because of tears of joy that the Eunuch's body doesn't feel as feminine as other eunuchs who had long stopped growing male hormones ( such as pubic hair and muscles.)

" That's great Eunuch Mo! This is a great merit to the military . I'll record it in the Military Book of Merits to report it to his majesty . "

Eunuch helplessly shook his head . Actually , he wanted to have his lover's name written on it but thinking of his small status in the military .

The more respectable image he had , the more his presence beside his lover to be more well suited . As long as his merit wasn't as exaggerated , it is already good for him .

He doesn't really want to leave a lot of marks and traces in the military just like the eunuch officials that had once led the military before in history books of the modern world .

All he cares is to protect his lover and complete his mission of raising his cub until the reign of the new emperor .

As for the thought of making his lover ascend to the throne . There's no way he would let that happen, emperors actually weren't as powerful as they were said to be in fantasies .

They were restricted by the daily court and affairs of the empire . If there's a prefecture or small village that encountered drought or pandemic , the emperor would bear the calls of his subjects .

He doesn't want to make his lover manage an ancient empire .

And especially doesn't want his lover to collect concubines to his inner palace and select one young lady as his empress and give birth to imperial heirs .

Thinking of that possibility makes the Eunuch feel more irked .

" The scout sent a signal! The enemy battalion has come! . "

The first group of eastern battalion immediately positioned themselves over the newly made temporary fortress made of stones that was piled up by the soldiers . Theses stones looked old and strong , they were especially put in here from the place where the big stones originated .

Gun powders weren't yet as developed as in the future and cannons have yet to exist . However , bombs already existed in this era .

Unfortunately , they only have limited bomb supplies .

Mo Xun stands beside the soldier in the watch tower that was in charge of alerting the military if there's an incoming army from the horizon .

The soldier beside him was actually his lover in disguise . Naturally , Lieutenant Colonel Fang knew of this . Eunuch Mo also wearing an armor followed his lover to descend the watch tower .

" The enemy uses the heavy seige weapons this time . "

Lieutenant Colonel Fang nodded solemnly. " There's no way they had unlimited supply of ballista arrows. Let's endure this until they ran out . Archery , focus and especially aim at the soldiers that operated the heavy seige weapons . We can't afford to have a melee battle for now . "

" Once they charge , immediately send a decoy to lead them to the killing field ."

Mo Xun nodded in agreement . As long as there's a way to limit the casualties , Lieutenant Colonel Fang would execute it .

Charge and melee usually has a high rate of casualties and that situation will only occur once the supply of ammunitions/ arrows were drained out .

The second battle stage of the war between the two kingdom has finally started commencing .

A young Lieutenant Colonel watched the battle commencing and ordered the soldiers to charge forward .

The front cavalier unit charged forward together with their spears . Their roar of excitement and bloodthirst intimidated the battalion in the fortress. Lieutenant Colonel William smirked .

" Intimidate them! "

" Oooh!!! "

The baritone shouts of the front cavalier together with the left and right infantry of the northern army struck the chests of the new infantry in the eastern camp .

Lieutenant Colonel Fang knew that the soldiers he was leading weren't veterans like the field army that was led by the great general .

But that doesn't mean that this battlefield won't cause his infantry to grow and be baptized by the bloodshed of the battle .

The morale of the battalion led by Lieutenant Colonel Fang was low , however , no one retreated .

" Hang on , swordsman unit . Let's do the hit and run tactic and lead them to the killing field as planned . Start! "

The rows of swordsman ran forward to meet the cavalier of the enemy. Mo Xun inwardly commented that cavaliers are more hard to battle than infantries .

But the purpose of the Lieutenant Colonel wasn't to meet them head on , but to lead them to the booby traps planted by his hidden lover .

The front cavalier unit charged unto the soldiers of the eastern camp . The sounds of the horses hooves on the ground struck the chests of these soldiers .

The right flank of the enemy camp lagged a bit behind , probably the formation ordered by the northern lieutenant Colonel .

The right flank of their army immediately separated from the front and followed the left flank of the northerners . A gap was found in the middle as the front unit immediately passed that area and surrounded the cavalier .

When the front cavalier thought that they were surrounded , they started counterattacking but ...

* Boom!!!!

The bomb has been successfully triggered after they successfully stepped into the killing field on the left area of the battlefield .

Many trees burned and fell down . Chaos descended unto that area as several wounded horses started neighing in panic .

" Shit!!! Be careful of the landmines!!! " The northerner Lieutenant Colonel shouted .

" Yes!!! "

Several troop leaders punched their shields in joyful celebration .

But the battlefield was not over yet .

" Defend!!! Do the Shield Wall!"

All the units immediately positioned their shield upward to block the rain of arrows that was released by the archery unit of the enemy camp .

Mo Xun then said to the soldier beside him . " It seems that your plan on playing the drums are not needed . "

" It will be useful in the future . I'll use them on the next wave of battle . "

Mo Xun chuckled and hugged him .

Qiang Quiyue pushed away the perverted Eunuch's face and went to the military physician unit to help the physician volunteers to tend the wounded .

" Bullshit! "

Lieutenant Colonel William stomp his halberd on to the ground in anger .

" Retreat!!! " He agrily shouted.

The northern camp retreated and a temporary ceasefire happened between the two enemy camps and revised their new strategy to deal with each other again .

But who would have thought that lieutenant Colonel Fang would be so bold as to do the exhausting strategy .

The small units of soldiers sent to the enemy camp always taunted them , use hit and run then the archer would fire at them from a hidden area after they successfully attracted the aggro .

The norther Lieutenant Colonel almost burst out of anger because of the constant stream of news about his army being victimized by the harassments of the 'exhausting' eastern camp squad .

The high ranking generals who recieve the reports of the Lieutenant Colonel Fang's battalion battle situation immediately felt satisfied and marked the name of the Lieutenant Colonel within their head to promote him . They also began to use the hidden creek as their route place to thread when sending reports back and fort .

The eastern camp lieutenant Colonel Fang was so astounding that even Qiang Quiyue just watched from the sidelines .

Of course he was just not watching , he was also learning at the same time .

A blonde haired mysterious man woke up and roamed his eyes around the camp he was in .

" Zone "

The mission target must be in the enemy camp right now . Although they couldn't obliterate his existence entirely , they could still wound and weaken his power . He was already a threat to the eyes of their lord god , they must immediately obliterate that demonic existence.

" General? "

" Hmm " the blonde man responded and took out his coat .

" Let's go . "
