Enjoyment.

Lena has got drunk and so is the old man next to her as they both laugh at silly jokes the other is making. At first Lena was hesitant to even drink, but soon enough she gave in and end up drunk. Lena isn't much of a drink usually, but with how exquisite the king's beverages are she just had to give them a try, and the old man behind her rushing her to do so wasn't helping her self-control either.

As they both drink their worries away not a single person has entered the room nor knocked. Lena did feel that something was out of place, but as she got drunk she had completely forgotten all about her objective.

Finally hours later they sober up a bit and for the first time the king talks striking up a conversation.

"*burp* So Lena... How long do I have?" The king asks with his head downwards.

"..." Lena immediately sobers up as she understands the meaning of those words.

"Do not worry dear Lena, I know why you are here, and I know that you are here without much of a choice." The king says as he puts down the beer he was drinking.

"Then... why..." Lena questions the man with his words rotating in her head.

The king then stands up and walks towards a terrace that has a view of the entire kingdom.

"I'm just like you Lena. I too did not have a choice." The king says with his grip tightening.

"How... How would someone like you end up with no choice but death?!" Lena questions the insanity of the situation.

"Lena, what is a king?" The man turned around.

"Huh?"

"What do you think a king is?" The man says as his kingdom shines behind him.

"I... I do not know..."

"Well you see. I believe a king is one who lives for his people, for with no people there is no king. My people's suffering is my own suffering, and my people's prosperity is my own prosperity, but while I might one day pass on my people won't. My kingdom won't. As for that for what reason should I think about myself first? Why should I care more about myself than those who are going to eternally represent me? I stand here not for my own achievements, but for the succession of my people. Now lena, Allow me to Ask you a question. Have you ever heard of evulsa?" The man says with no hint of his previous drunken state.

"E-evulsa?" Lena questions the word given to her.

"Then I'm guessing you do not know of The Empire either... To no one's surprise that is." The king speaks dissatisfied as he turns to face the outside.

"What does something called evulsa have to do with anything?!" Lena almost screams questioning the king's words.

"I was given a choice. Either my people or myself. Someone would think such a threat is nothing but a bluff, but not them for they had already done it. The kingdom of evulsa a kingdom which once stood at the heights of humanity now gone reduced to nothing. The mere mentioning of it these days is considered a taboo." The man says as he continues looking down.

"So you chose yourself. To save what will represent you and your achievements you chose yourself." Lena says as her expression dims.

"Well I might have over ornamented my words since that isn't the only reason. Do not get me wrong for I do adore my people, but even then I'm nothing but a human too myself Lena, I will always think of myself first, but you see. Even in humans there is an exception for that, Someone who I would die for, and that is my son." The king says as a the edge of his lips raises.

"T-The prince!" Lena says as she had fully forgotten about such a person.

"Indeed. I would die for him Lena, my own son. Even though he isn't of my own flesh and blood, I have risen him as such and for that I see him as such. You see Lena, this world has taken from me the ability to make young ones which had completely ruined me at some point. The desire to watch over your own young ones is something implemented in every human, from those who barely pass their days to those doing nothing but drink and laugh all day, from the strong to the weak. From the controlling to the controlled, and nothing could hurt one more than watching their own hurting. Sadly there are those who have such a thing taken away from them, and I happen to be one of them. Even with all the riches that I have amassed even with all the people I have on my side. That couldn't even stand to fill the void left within me when I wasn't able to bring life to a child of my own. It was then that one day by pure chance while going around the kingdom I had found a poor orphan about to starve to death. I had him have a meal with me at the castle. As I watched him eat all that clouded my mind was the desire to protect this child at any cost, To give this child in front of me a life where he can experience all that life has to offer. When I had made a background check on the kid it turned out that his parents had left him behind as they left for god knows where. Hearing those words all I could feel was resentment towards such people, To leave their own behind and leave for their own good! What selfishness!" The king face turns red as he continues.

"Even monsters wouldn't do that! And with how I was the way I am I couldn't stop myself from despising their mere existence. To take such a precious being as nothing but granted! If I had known where they've gone an execution would've been the least of their concern!" The king says throwing his hand around gesturing and then heaves a strong sigh to calm down.

Lena listens in silence.

"Sadly I won't be around to see him grow into a fine king to succeed me, but I believe he will be doing a great job. So choosing myself was the only real reasonable choice don't you think?" The king says as a gentle smile forms on his face.

"So Lena, I shall ask you once more. How Long do I have?" The King asks.

"Until sunrise..." Lena says evading the king with her eyes.

"I See... So we still have time! Let us drink and enjoy ourselves until then Lena!" The king says as he walks back in to enjoy what life is left in him.

Lena nods and joins in with him.

An hour before sunrise.

Lena and the King have stopped drinking a bit ago. They didn't want to risk getting drunk at the promised time. They are both enjoying a normal conversation with each other. The king tells Lena embarrassing stories about the prince, while Lena listens as a laugh surfaces here and there.

"Ahh... It's nice talking normally every once in a while without all that high and might stuff." The king says enjoying the little things.

Lena nods

"Lena." The king says with surprisingly embarrassment on his face.

'huh?' Lena is confused.

"Would you accept my son's hand in marriage?" The king says out of nowhere.

"What?" Lena says almost instinctively.

"I'm sure you would make a great wife for him!" The king exclaims.

"H-how exactly?" Lena questions the king's logic.

"I do not know! But I would like to at least know who my son is going to marry before I pass!" The king says.

"T-that's quite a hard request..." Lena says as she awkwardly rubs her right cheek with her index finger.

"Also wouldn't you want your son to have a much prettier wife? A man looking muscular head won't work right... I'm... lacking and an eye of mine is basically missing..." Lena says with a depressed tone.

"hmmm... yeah I guess it won't." The king says without holding back.

"Hey!" Lena says offended.

"You told them not to interrupt us, right?" Lena says.

"Yeah... I wanted my last hours to at least be peaceful ones." The king says.

"Then why didn't you bring your son? from how much you talked about him I'm sure you would've wanted him here." Lena questions the king.

"He would never agree to what I am doing. He would most likely present ridiculous idea like hiding me while pretending I'm dead, or even sacrificing our people and himself for me." The king says with a slight smile.

"I feel terrible for what I'm about to do to him, but I'm sure he will grow through it and become an ever greater king than me." The king says reminiscing.

Lena looks down as she remembers her own parents or what she knows about them at least.

"Now! hmph." The king says as he stands up.

He slowly walks towards a chair that is near the center of the room and sits down.

"Why don't we get it done with?" The king says as he sits down.

"A-already?!" Lena says.

"Lena look outside." The king says facing the terrace.

"the sun is about to rise." The king says.

"B-but!" Lena says beggingly.

"NO BUTS! It's now or never Lena, Remember I'm not doing this for you, but for my son and people." The king says as he glares at Lena.

"I-I don't have a weapon!" Lena creates an excuse.

"There." the king says this time looking at the display of a sword on the wall.

"Use that."

"W-what?! Aren't displays j-just replicas? Right they are Replicas!" Lena again excuses herself.

"I made sure it's real before you got here. Now get along with it." The king says again with no regard to what Lena is going through.

"B-BUT!" Lena doesn't want to lose herself.

"DO IT LENA OR I WILL MAKE SURE YOU REGRET IT!" The king shouts.

Lena then slowly stands up and staggers towards the display.

"Faster." The king orders.

For the first time since entering the room The king finally feels like an actual authority as he watches over Lena slowly stagger.

"N-no..." Lena says as she continues.

"I-i-i d-don't want this..." Lena reaches out her hands pulling out the sword from it's scabbard.

"T-T-This isn't what she wanted..." Lena's existance slowly disappears in her mind as she slowly reaches the dormant king.

"Now, quick." The king orders.

"W-what will i be... is this truly what living is... I couldn't finish her first request yet here I am about to break the second... is this truly what she wanted..." lena says as she barely reaches the king.

The king who has heard everything has been saying talks.

"Lena, before i pass I have to give you a bit of advice."

"where you are heading there is nothing but unfairness and misery, you are going to start questioning your sense of self."

"But... You've got to know one thing. People of the past are stuck in the past, so do not worry yourself with them. While they are not given a chance to see this moment, you are. So move."

"huh?"

"Also... the people who sent you here, They will most likely never contact you again. But even then I'm sure as you move on this word will be brought up again. Remember Lena, Remember 'evulsa'" The king says with a straight glare as Lena finally has the sword to his neck yet she still shakes.

"I see. So that's how it is with you." The king says.

"What?" Lena says as the sword slowly moves towards the king's neck.

"You won't be able to kill me. Not just me, But any human as long as it lives." The king says as he stares straight into Lena's eyes making her feel as if her soul is being seen.

"W-what do you mean?" Lena questions the king.

"Lena know one thing."

"If you refuse to kill me."

"I Will Make Sure Both Trestina and Toto are in the depth of hell." The king seconds before getting his throat turned into a blood fountain.

Lena falls to her knees.

What seconds ago was a living talking human emotionally talking and laughing with her.

Is now nothing but a "thing".

The is on the ground right to her, Her hands are on the ground holding her from falling on her back as she had fell to her knees. Tears flow from her eyes as she tries to reason with herself. This was her first time taking a life.

The ground underneath her slowly floods with the blood of the "thing" in front of her. A thing that gives Lena nothing but feelings of despair. She watches as blood rains over her while tears stream from her. She barely gets herself to stand barely stable enough to think rationally. As she watches the fountain slowly run out of blood she screams. As hard as she can she screams. If their was a limit for screaming she would have hit it 20x over.

Just then the door that had been left unopen ever since is finally opened as 2 guards run in concerned. They see the corpse of their used to be king showering a towering monster with a huge metal gauntlet on it's right arm with it's brown hair being half covered with blood. The monster gives them a quick glace from over it's right shoulder and runs towards the terrace to jump off. They run towards the terrace and look downwards only to find the usual green of the garden with no sign of such monster.

Quickly they alarm as much people as they can.
